Chapter 138: Attending Anniversary Party

Chapter 138: Chapter 138: Attending Anniversary Party

The next day, it was time for Victoria to face her greatest enemy at her father’s company anniversary party. Of course, she didn’t want to let her stepsister take over the company her biological family had worked so hard to build. Moreover, she still remembered her father’s harsh rebuke and sarcasm for never resolving work issues. Therefore, it was impossible for her father to inherit the company for an incompetent person.

Before going to the hotel, Victoria put on her makeup first in the room. Thanks to her husband giving her a Scarlet Heart necklace makes her smile more confident even though she is still angry at her sister who still doesn’t know herself.

"Victoria, you’re so beautiful. I’m sure seeing you now will make everyone fall in love with you."

Victoria laughed gracefully, swinging her husband’s hand. "Even though I haven’t changed yet. Your lips are getting sweeter."

"Whatever you want to wear, I will definitely like it." Matthias winked his right eye.

"Matthias, if you keep sweet-talking me, I won’t hesitate to drag you along with me later."

"I actually wanted to accompany you. But I have to go home because my mother invited me to have lunch there." Matthias kissed his wife deeply on the forehead, then moved to her cheek. "After the party, I want to play with you. I want to take you on a date somewhere beautiful, as a gift because I can’t accompany you to the party."

"Me too. Don’t worry. I definitely won’t be home late."

"If Ansel does anything naughty, you report it to me immediately."

"Ansel won’t do anything to me. He’s a very good man and he’ll definitely listen to you."

The D&C Group’s anniversary party finally arrived. All the guests attending were Fransisca’s closest friends and all the business partners she had collaborated with over the years. Many were gossiping, curious about who would be the ultimate heir to the group. Many supported Victoria as the ultimate heir, despite her lack of contribution to the company.

Victoria had appeared confidently at this venue, looking her most radiant, thanks to her beloved husband’s purchase of a beautiful dress and shoes for her. She had desperately hoped he would accompany her. However, reality, however, was far from her expectations.

Today, Ansel would be accompanying her. She had been waiting for her ex-fiancé for about ten minutes, but he still hadn’t shown up. Victoria finally called Ansel while walking around the hotel lobby for some fresh air.

"Ansel, where are you now?"

"Victoria, I’m sorry. I’m actually still stuck in traffic. Would you mind waiting another fifteen minutes?"

"It’s okay. You should just focus on driving. Ignore me."

"Are you okay? Can you walk by yourself?"

Victoria rolled her eyes. "Ansel, am I a child in your eyes? Don’t worry, nothing will happen to me."

"Because Matthias will kill me if I don’t take good care of you."

"Matthias wouldn’t be so cruel. Besides, aren’t you two good friends? I can talk to him about this."

"Well then, I feel a little relieved now."

"Don’t worry about me anymore. I’ll hang up now, okay?"

As Victoria finished talking with her ex-fiancé, she accidentally ran into her greatest enemy, causing her blood pressure to rise. The enemy who suddenly appeared before her was Amber. She was curious about the connection between Amber and the D&C Group, even though she knew nothing of it. Was Amber actually attending this party because she was specially invited?

"How did you come to this party?"

Amber smiled sarcastically, staring at her enemy’s dress, which shone even brighter than her own. "Of course I have the right to attend this party, because I’m Fransisca’s friend."

Victoria furrowed her brows. "Since when does my stepsister want to hang out with you? How do you two know each other?"

"It’s a long story. What’s certain is that you have no right to stop me now." Amber brought her lips close to her enemy’s ear. "I’m going to marry Matthias soon. You have no right to approach him like you did before."

Meanwhile, Victoria wasn’t afraid of Amber’s incredibly stupid remarks. She leaned her lips close to Amber’s ear. "Really? Congratulations! I’m really looking forward to your wedding with him. Don’t forget to invite me to your wedding."

"You’re not angry?"

"Why would I be angry? When you said your wedding vows, I was curious to see what Matthias would say to you. If he had rejected you outright, I wanted to hold back my laughter so you wouldn’t be even more embarrassed! He only loves me."

"You are so incredibly presumptuous, Victoria!"

Victoria slowly felt Amber’s white dress. "I wonder how you’ll react when Matthias publicly humiliates you. I bet you won’t have the courage to face his mother again."

Amber smiled sarcastically. "You act like you know her mother well. Have you ever met her in person?"

"No. But I’m sure his mother would defend me over you. All this time, you’ve only been using cheap tactics to get close to Matthias!"

"It was actually his mother who really supported me marrying Matthias because I was pregnant."

Victoria laughed so hard her stomach ached. "You’re lying, Amber. You haven’t shown any signs of pregnancy. If Matthias’s mother finds out you’re lying, she’ll hate you for the rest of her life."

"So you two are here," said Fransisca as she walked gracefully towards her main guest.

Amber smiled kindly and patted Fransisca on the shoulder. "Thank you for inviting me, Fransisca. It’s an honor."

"I’m actually very happy to be able to hang out with you, it’s an honor for me too." Fransisca’s gaze briefly focused on her sister’s radiant appearance. "Victoria, you look so beautiful today."

"Thank you, Fransisca," said Victoria with a forced smile.

"By the way, I would like to talk to you more freely, do you mind?"

Victoria shook her head nervously. "It’s okay. But where are we going to talk?"

"How about we talk on the balcony first? There aren’t many people passing by there."
