Chapter 132: Chapter 132: Hiding Something Important

Meanwhile, Victoria was having dinner with her grandfather somewhere. The client she had been talking to since noon was Charles. However, Victoria had actually lied to her father so she could chat with Charles as much as she wanted. Furthermore, her father had no idea his daughter had been hanging out with a certain grandfather whenever she had free time.

Charles took her to dinner at an upscale restaurant accessible only to the privileged. Even Victoria, herself a member of the upper class, couldn’t afford to dine there. Seeing that everything Charles ordered was extremely expensive, she could only awkwardly enjoy it.

"Why are you so awkward when you eat? Haven’t you been eating with gusto lately?" Charles asked with a confused look.

"I’m actually confused, Grandpa. Why did you suddenly invite me to such a luxurious place? I’ve never been able to set foot in this restaurant unless a client invites me to meet them."

Charles couldn’t help but laugh out loud. "You don’t have to feel awkward. You can eat as much as you like here." His eyes fell on Victoria’s still-unexpected belly. "This is for the health of my great-grandchild, too."

Victoria stroked her belly slowly. "My child, can you hear Grandpa’s request? You need to eat a lot to stay healthy. I don’t care if I get fat; I’ll be sad if you get sick."

"But, Victoria, are you sure you want to maintain your relationship with Matthias?"

"Of course. Now I’ve decided I want to be a good wife. I won’t hate him like I did before. Besides, I remember everything. I used to love him very much."

"Then, does that mean you love him only because of your past memories?"

"No. But my heart was ready for him. I’ve loved him since before I regained my memory. As time goes by, I’m so happy to spend time with him." Victoria stared at her stomach for a moment. "Especially since my family will be growing soon."

Charles took a deep breath, then exhaled slowly. "Actually, I’m relieved to see you two getting along so well. But Lucretia still doesn’t approve of your relationship. Didn’t Matthias tell you?"

"Actually, Matthias had already told me before I was pregnant."

"I mean recently. His mother forced him to marry another woman."

Victoria furrowed her eyebrows. "What?"

"Actually, I overheard their conversation. Lucretia was forcing Matthias to marry that woman named Amber. Moreover, I heard there was a reason for their marriage." Charles gripped Victoria’s hand tightly. "I’m sorry to break this bad news so suddenly. At first, I thought Matthias had already told you."

Victoria shook her head slowly and swallowed nervously. While she had wanted to have fun with her husband, her heart was now shattered again. Why did she have to hear this important information from someone else? Why had her husband been hiding it all this time? This was what made her a little angry. Did her husband still not fully trust her?

"But you shouldn’t hate him too much. Matthias is always thinking of ways to get you to stay with him."

"I know. He won’t let me go easily. Matthias loves me so much that he’s been pursuing me at all costs. I’m sure he won’t be easily swayed by his mother’s words." Victoria smiled again as she poured Charles some green tea. "Don’t worry, I won’t be weak in this situation. I’m used to it."

"Don’t scold Matthias for this. He’ll be very stressed."

"Actually I want him to tell me about this by himself."

Although Victoria appeared confident in front of Charles, she was still anxious because her husband hadn’t told her anything until now. Even before bed, her husband still smiled sweetly at her, knowing full well that it was a fake smile to cover up his sadness. She really hated that her husband wouldn’t tell her anything. It wasn’t that she hated him, but she felt like pinching his cheeks until he was satisfied.

All she could do now was slowly caress her husband’s face before bed. If their relationship didn’t last, she wouldn’t be able to enjoy this beautiful sight before bed, and her child would be without a father.

"Tory, I was wondering what you were up to today. Did you visit your dad again?"

"How did you know? Are you following me again?"

Matthias laughed so hard his face turned red. "My wife, I won’t act as childish as before. Hearing that you want to be my wife, I’m no longer anxious."

"But, your guess was absolutely spot on. You really didn’t order someone to follow me again, did you?"

Matthias lifted his wife’s chin with an intense gaze. "Do I really look like a stalker? Have you forgotten that I can read your mind?"

Victoria smiled shyly and kissed her husband’s cheek. "I like you even more because you know what I want."

"You’ve been missing your father lately and he’s starting to recover, so of course you wouldn’t want to miss this golden opportunity to talk to him."

"Actually, I want you to visit him again. I want your relationship to be closer. You were enemies before, and now you want to start over."

"I’ll visit him tomorrow. I’m not that busy anyway. If you’re not busy either, we’ll visit him all day."

Victoria hugged her husband tightly. "Thank you, my husband."

Matthias smiled casually, stroking his wife’s back. "I love seeing you smile before bed."

"Matty, I like it when you smile before you go to sleep too. But I prefer it when you don’t hide anything from me."

The next day, the stepmother visited her husband, who was still asleep in the hospital. This time, she was accompanied by a top lawyer from the D&C Group. She smiled sarcastically at the old man, who remained in bed, looking around the room.

"Looks like we should end this soon," said the stepmother.

"What?"

"Why are you still asking? You must immediately draft a will stating that my husband wills all his assets to my biological daughter."
