Chapter 29 A Little Tampering

Liu Shi and Grandma Jiang desperately tried to stop Chen Yuezhi from leaving. With no other option, Chen Yuezhi poured some of the medicinal powder and gave it to the man. "Take this first, rinse the wound with clean water, then sprinkle this powder on it. If the fever hasn't subsided by tomorrow morning, come find me again."

The man quickly took out a few copper coins. "Sister-in-law, we're having some difficulties at home right now. Please don't think it's too little."

Chen Yuezhi waved her hand. "No need. In this situation, we should help our neighbors as much as we can."

The man felt too embarrassed to leave without paying. Seeing Jiang Wan standing nearby, he tucked the copper coins into the small pocket on her clothes and turned to leave.

Jiang Pan quickly called out to him, but the man didn't look back.

Jiang Wan's eyes darted around. "Dad, I'm going to return the money."

Without waiting for Jiang Pan's reply, she chased after the man with her short legs.

She had a brilliant idea, a way to teach that troublesome family a lesson!

However, she was small and her legs were short. She couldn't run very far before she lost sight of the man. Jiang Pan caught up, intending to carry her back.

Just as Jiang Wan was fretting, Sanlang suddenly appeared from the side. "Wanwan, where are you going?"

Jiang Wan's eyes lit up. She turned to Jiang Pan and said, "Dad, I'm going to return the money with Little Brother. You should go back quickly and watch Mom, don't let her get bullied."

Jiang Pan, worried that Chen Yuezhi might be harassed, instructed Sanlang, "Take Wanwan to return the money to Uncle Tieniu's family, and then take her back to sleep."

Before Sanlang could even react, Jiang Pan had already turned back.

Jiang Wan reached out and grabbed Sanlang's hand, gesturing for him to bend down. "Little Brother, I've thought of a way to make those annoying people afraid to bully our family anymore."

Sanlang's eyes brightened. "Really?"

Jiang Wan nodded confidently. "Really, but I'll need your cooperation."

Sanlang agreed without a second thought.

Thus, the siblings set off together for Zhang Tieniu's family's lodging.

When they arrived, Zhang Tieniu's family was cleaning and dressing the wound of his injured father, Old Man Zhang. The process was painful, and Old Man Zhang, biting down on a wooden stick, was sweating profusely from the pain.

Jiang Wan couldn't help but tut. Such a method was too harsh, and cleaning the wound with plain water was quite reckless.

But considering the current conditions, what else could be done besides cleaning the wound with water?

Jiang Wan and Sanlang waited quietly nearby. During this time, Sanlang tried to cover Jiang Wan's eyes, fearing she might be scared, but she impatiently pushed his hands away.

After Zhang Tieniu's family finished, Jiang Wan took out the copper coins and deliberately walked up to Old Man Zhang before speaking. "Uncle Tieniu, my dad sent me to return the money to you."

As she spoke, she placed the copper coins on Old Man Zhang and said, "Grandpa Zhang, does it hurt a lot? Don't be afraid, it won't hurt for long. Mom's medicine is very effective; it will surely heal your wound."

As she spoke, she gently patted Old Man Zhang a few times.

Old Man Zhang had used too much force biting the wooden stick and was now too weak to speak. He could only manage a slight twitch of his lips.

After speaking, Jiang Wan turned and left, with Sanlang quickly following.

"Wanwan, Sanlang, take the copper coins back."

Zhang Tieniu chased after them, but the two little ones ran incredibly fast.

After running a distance away, Jiang Wan looked back in the direction of Zhang Tieniu's house and smiled, a hint of slyness flashing in her eyes.

She had deliberately gone close to Old Man Zhang earlier to touch him and use her special abilities.

Although her contact with Old Man Zhang was brief, her special abilities proved quite useful. In less than two days, Old Man Zhang's wound would show improvement.

However, for her plan to be complete, she still needed to do something at Jiang Laosan's place.

Thus, the siblings headed towards the Jiang family's residence.

Before they even arrived, they heard a pig-like scream, interspersed with Liu Shi's shrieks.

"Husband, husband, what's wrong with you?"

"Sister-in-law, is this method of yours effective? Can your medical skills truly heal my husband?"

Grandma Jiang, even more anxious, pushed Chen Yuezhi. "You black-hearted woman, are you deliberately tormenting my son? You're doing this on purpose, aren't you!"

Chen Yuezhi stumbled from the push. If Jiang Pan hadn't caught her in time, she would have fallen.

Jiang Wan was so angry she almost exploded. Without thinking, she rushed forward like a little bull and butted Grandma Jiang hard with her head.

"Don't you dare bully my mother, you old hag! You were the ones who insisted my mother come!"

Grandma Jiang was so stunned she almost lost her breath and couldn't stand steadily.

Jiang Er immediately jumped up and raised his hand to hit Jiang Wan. Sanlang, quick as lightning, pulled Jiang Wan aside, dodging the slap.

Jiang Er, missing his target, immediately changed direction. However, Jiang Pan grabbed his wrist. "What do you think you're doing? You dare to lay hands on my children in front of me? Do you think I'm dead?"

With a surge of strength from Jiang Pan, Jiang Er felt his wrist bones about to shatter. He yelped and jumped in pain.

Old Man Jiang's face turned dark with anger. "All of you, stop!"

Jiang Pan flung Jiang Er away, then turned and picked up Jiang Wan. He also pulled Chen Yuezhi closer and instructed Sanlang, "Take the medicine, let's go home."

Sanlang nimbly grabbed the medicine that Chen Yuezhi hadn't yet applied to Jiang Laosan and followed behind Jiang Pan.

"You can't leave!" Old Man Jiang hurriedly blocked their path. "Laosan's injury hasn't been treated yet, you can't leave."

Jiang Pan said coldly, "It's none of our business. Find someone else."

In this situation, where could they find someone else?

Old Man Jiang refused to let them go.

Jiang Pan decided to scare him. "Aren't you afraid we'll do something underhanded? Don't forget, I still have scores to settle with that old hag and Jiang Er and his daughter!"

Old Man Jiang was genuinely intimidated.

Jiang Pan sneered and left with his wife and children.

On the way back, Jiang Pan repeatedly warned Chen Yuezhi, "From now on, no matter how much they cry or beg on their knees, don't meddle in their affairs."

Chen Yuezhi sighed. "I'm just afraid that if they make too much of a scene, it will affect your and the children's reputation."

The reputation of being unfilial could have a significant impact.

Jiang Pan snorted dismissively. "What reputation? Why worry about all that! In this day and age, just surviving is difficult, why bother with all that! From now on, our family will stay far away from them. We'll never see each other again. No matter how badly they spread rumors outside, it won't affect us."

Jiang Wan nodded vigorously. "Dad is right, Mom. Let's ignore them. Let them die! If they dare to come and bother you again, I'll fight them!"

She then gritted her teeth, appearing quite furious.

Chen Yuezhi smiled, took her into her arms, and kissed her tightly. "My good daughter, Mom truly didn't dote on you in vain."

Jiang Wan wiped the spit from her face with a slight look of disdain and glanced back in the direction of the Jiang family's house.

Tomorrow, there would be a good show to watch.
