"Quick, over there, stop it, don't let it get away!"
In the woods, a roe deer bolted through the forest in a panic, its hooves kicking up dust. Around it, a crowd of humans wielding various clumsy weapons surrounded it.
Despite their numbers, most of the villagers had no hunting experience. So, with so many people trying to catch one deer, they almost let it escape.
Da Lang and Er Lang also joined the chase. The two brothers shouted excitedly, causing considerable distress to Jiang Wan on Er Lang's back.
Tightly bound to Er Lang's back, Jiang Wan was tossed about by his running and jumping, feeling so nauseous that she almost threw up several times. However, fearing she would vomit on Er Lang's back and make herself sick, she desperately held it in.
What had she done wrong to be forced to participate in such a pathetic hunting activity?
Most of these people didn't know how to hunt. When they saw the prey approaching, their mouths reacted faster than their brains and bodies. They just yelled incessantly, then remembered what to do, and then desperately chased after the prey.
With such skill, it would be a miracle if they could catch any prey.
Yang the hunter was also extremely frustrated by the villagers' hunting skills. Seeing the deer about to escape, he quickly shouted, "Get out of the way, I'm going to shoot!"
The villagers quickly moved aside, clearing a space for Yang the hunter.
Yang the hunter immediately took his bow, nocked an arrow, and shot at the deer, killing it instantly. The villagers were all stunned by this display of skill, and Er Lang's eyes shone as he looked at Yang the hunter.
The villagers lifted the deer and excitedly urged Yang the hunter to find the next prey.
Jiang Wan quickly said to her two brothers, "I feel sick, I don't want to go. Let's go back."
The two carefree brothers finally remembered they had a sister. They turned to look and saw their little chubby sister's face was a little pale, and they were immediately startled.
"Wan Wan, what's wrong? Are you feeling unwell somewhere?"
Jiang Wan didn't really want to talk. Anyone would feel uncomfortable being carried like that for half an hour.
Seeing Jiang Wan looking listless, the brothers lost their appetite for hunting and quickly said to Yang the hunter, "Our sister is not feeling well, we have to take her back."
Yang the hunter looked at their location and pointed in a direction, "Then be careful on your way. Just follow this direction."
The brothers thanked Yang the hunter and hurried off in that direction with Jiang Wan.
Jiang Wan asked from Er Lang's back, "Big brother, second brother, aren't you two disappointed to be going back like this?"
After all, they weren't very old, and it was a rare chance to have fun. If their opportunity was ruined like this, she would surely be unhappy.
Unexpectedly, Da Lang reached out and rubbed her head, "What's there to be disappointed about? We can hunt anytime, but your health cannot be delayed. Are you still feeling unwell? Let big brother carry you."
With that, Da Lang had Er Lang take her down and switched her to his own back.
Da Lang's back was a bit wider than Er Lang's, and Jiang Wan felt much more comfortable.
The mountain forest was densely wooded, making it difficult to walk. Especially since the brothers had to be careful not to let branches scratch Jiang Wan's face, their speed was not very fast.
As they walked, Er Lang's ears twitched, and he turned to look around the forest.
Da Lang asked, "What's wrong? Did you hear something?"
Er Lang's ears were more sensitive than ordinary people's, "Brother, I think I heard someone calling for help."
Da Lang's eyes widened, "Are you sure you didn't mishear?"
Jiang Wan also quickly pricked up her ears and listened carefully. It seemed there was indeed a faint cry for help.
"It seems to be that way."
Er Lang carefully identified the direction and then pointed south.
Da Lang heard nothing, "Could you have misheard? Everyone in our village is to the north, and Yang the hunter and the others didn't go that way either. Why would there be anyone over there?"
Jiang Wan suddenly thought of a possibility, "Another team!"
Er Lang immediately said, "They must have encountered danger. Let's go quickly and see what's happening. If we can help, we should help. If not, we should at least see what's going on so we can report it to the adults when we get back."
Jiang Wan chimed in, "Yes, big brother, let's go take a look. What if it's people from our village who secretly entered the mountain and are in danger?"
Da Lang had no choice but to nod, "Then let's go take a look. But let's agree first, if there's danger, no one is allowed to act rashly, understand?"
"Got it, got it, let's go quickly, don't delay."
So the two brothers quickly hurried towards the direction of the sound with Jiang Wan on their backs.
The further they went, the clearer the cries for help became.
The three followed the sound and couldn't help but gasp.
In the distance, on a tree, a woman was tightly holding a child and desperately shouting for help, while below the tree, four gray wolves were circling!
The woman, standing high up, could see far and quickly discovered the three siblings. She desperately called out, "Help! You two young strong men, please save us mother and child, and we will reward you generously!"
It was fortunate that the wolves couldn't understand human language, otherwise, they would have turned to look.
This place cannot be lingered in!
Da Lang was so scared that he immediately decided to take his younger siblings away. After all, besides a woodcutter's axe and a kitchen knife, they really had nothing to defend themselves with.
Er Lang refused to leave, "Big brother, are you going to stand by and do nothing?"
Da Lang clenched his fists, "I'm not standing by and doing nothing, but I'm acting within my capabilities. What power do you and I have to kill four wolves? Er Lang, don't be reckless. If we charge over now, it will be a dead end. It's better to go back quickly and get the villagers to help."
Jiang Wan quickly suggested, "Yang the hunter and the others are not far from here. If we go to get help now, they will surely make it in time."
Da Lang nodded and was about to carry Jiang Wan and pull Er Lang to get help.
Jiang Wan quickly said, "Big brother, you won't be able to run fast carrying me. How about this, put me down, and I'll climb up the tree. I'll wait for you on the tree."
"No! That's too dangerous!"
Both brothers rejected it in unison, "More than saving people, we don't want you to have any accidents!"
Da Lang simply carried Jiang Wan and was about to leave.
Unexpectedly, as the three turned around, the woman suddenly cried out, startling them into looking back. They saw that the woman had fallen from the tree and was hanging from a branch. The wolves below jumped up like mad, trying to pounce on the woman.
And the woman's child was screaming desperately, reaching out to her mother.
"Mother, mother, come up quickly, Nian'er will pull you up."
"Nian'er! Hold the tree trunk tightly, don't move around! Help! Help!"
The mother and child were in grave danger. Everyone knew that it was too late to go for help now. The woman could fall at any moment due to exhaustion.
Jiang Wan frantically searched the forest. Soon, she spotted the vines hanging from the trees. With an idea, she shouted, "Big brother, put me down quickly!"
"Wan Wan, what are you going to do?"
"I have a way to save them, quickly!"
