Chapter 104 Years of Peace

Shen Xuan walked into Afu's room to find him still asleep, breathing deeply, his brow slightly furrowed even in slumber. It seemed the cold had made his sleep restless.

Seeing Afu still asleep, Shen Xuan went to the study where Lu Yu was to find her.

"Wife, I just checked on Afu. He still looks quite uncomfortable."

"I'll take him to the doctor tomorrow to get him a new prescription," Lu Yu said, tidying up the items on her right desk as Shen Xuan entered.

Shen Xuan also skillfully walked over to the desk and sat down. He glanced at Lu Yu's gentle profile, lowered his head, smiled slightly, and picked up a brush to paint on the paper.

It was a picture of peaceful, quiet times.

"Wife, guess what I drew? A poem or a painting?" Shen Xuan gently placed the inked side of the Xuan paper face down on the table, raising his eyebrows and looking at Lu Yu playfully.

Lu Yu was at a crucial part of her writing and didn't have the energy to talk to Shen Xuan. She just looked up briefly, "Both are good."

Shen Xuan's eyes widened at her words. He watched Lu Yu lower her head and continue writing, blinking in disbelief. He then pouted aggrievedly, "Is Wife being so perfunctory with me now?"

Hearing this, Lu Yu realized she might have performed poorly in front of her husband. She quickly put down her brush and sincerely apologized.

"Xuan'er, don't misunderstand. I was momentarily captivated by the key plot of the novel I'm writing, which is why I blurted that out without thinking," Lu Yu said with an ingratiating smile, which made Shen Xuan chuckle.

But he also found his wife's demeanor quite cute and suddenly felt like teasing her. He used a plot from a novel he had read before to tease Lu Yu, and Lu Yu actually took it seriously.

Seeing Shen Xuan turn away as he spoke, Lu Yu thought Shen Xuan was genuinely unhappy. After all, being ignored and then given such a perfunctory answer by his wife, he should be upset.

Wasn't his perfunctory behavior now no different from those men in modern society who didn't cherish what they had once obtained? He really needed to change this behavior; his husband should always come first.

Shen Xuan couldn't imagine that in such a short time, Lu Yu could have conjured such a dramatic scenario. He was waiting for Lu Yu to coax him further, but after waiting for a long time, Lu Yu remained silent. He quietly turned his head and saw Lu Yu staring at him blankly.

Seeing Lu Yu not speaking, Shen Xuan had to take the initiative. He turned back again, lowering his head extremely low, and said in a muffled voice, "If Wife is not interested, then forget it. Xuan'er will leave now."

After speaking, Shen Xuan even sighed and made a move to leave.

Lu Yu grabbed Shen Xuan's hand, "Xuan'er, of course, I'm interested. I guess it's a painting."

Seeing Lu Yu reach out to pick up the painting from the table, Shen Xuan quickly hugged the painting to himself, "Not at all! Wife, you don't understand Xuan'er at all, sob sob..."

Shen Xuan felt he truly had a talent for acting, almost gasping for breath as he held back his laughter.

"Sob sob?" Lu Yu repeated with a look of bewilderment, "Didn't I write that in the novel?"

Seeing Shen Xuan's back trembling, Lu Yu suddenly understood. She turned Shen Xuan's shoulders around. Unprepared, Shen Xuan followed Lu Yu's movement and suddenly saw Lu Yu's face appear before him. Startled, he quickly lowered his head.

Looking at Shen Xuan, whose face was red from stifling laughter, Lu Yu was almost amused and exasperated, "Good for you! You've learned to trick your wife. Let's see how I punish you later!"

Speaking of punishment, Shen Xuan suddenly realized he might have gone too far. But he wouldn't admit fault easily. Even if he were wrong, he would shift the blame to Lu Yu, something Lu Yu had taught him shortly after they got married.

"I didn't trick you at all. You just assumed I was angry. Besides, didn't you write these yourself?" Shen Xuan looked at Lu Yu with innocent wide eyes.

"You even read this?"

The book Shen Xuan was referring to was a novel Lu Yu had recently sold to Sister Feng at Hanmo Pavilion. To think that Shen Xuan had already read this far within a few days.

"I bought this novel the first day it was released. I read all the novels Wife writes," Shen Xuan said, raising his head with a proud expression.

"Since Xuan'er likes me so much, I'll guess it's a painting of me." Before Shen Xuan could react, Lu Yu quickly snatched the Xuan paper from his arms and unfolded it. Indeed, it was her profile.

"Xuan'er, you draw so beautifully. I like it." Lu Yu then placed a big reward stamp on Shen Xuan's face.

"Here we go again." Shen Xuan gave Lu Yu a coquettish look and pushed her twice. When she didn't budge, he nestled into her embrace.

"A'da said A'Xuan will be giving birth to kittens in about half a month. Wife, can you check my pulse again?" Shen Xuan extended his wrist and placed it near Lu Yu's hand.

Lu Yu knew what Shen Xuan meant by his question. She held Shen Xuan's outstretched hand, "Don't worry, the child will be here soon."

Shen Xuan didn't understand the meaning of Lu Yu's words and insisted that Lu Yu take his pulse.

"Knock knock." A knock came from the door, it was A'da's voice, "Patriarch, Main Husband, it's time to eat."
