Chapter 4 The Scumbag Best Friend

After being blessed by her luck value, coupled with Xia Qingtian's own diligent review during this period, she actually managed to grasp most of the knowledge from her senior year of high school. The few days of exams went relatively smoothly.

On the last day of the college entrance examination, after submitting her papers, Xia Qingtian planned to return directly to the Xia family. Her father had said he would come home early that morning to celebrate with her.

As Xia Qingtian walked, she heard the sound of hurried footsteps behind her, accompanied by a girl's shout: "Qingtian! Qingtian, wait for me!"

Hearing this voice, Xia Qingtian's brows furrowed, a hint of disgust flashing in her eyes, and she quickened her pace.

"Xia Qingtian! Why have you been avoiding me these past few days!" The person grabbed Xia Qingtian's arm and said breathlessly, "Is this how you treat your best friend? If you keep this up, I'm going to break off our friendship!"

"Then let's break it off," Xia Qingtian said, looking at her coldly, her voice even colder.

"Wh-what?" The other person seemed not to expect Xia Qingtian to say that. She often joked like this before, and Xia Qingtian had never said "Then let's break it off" but would always coax her, buy her bags, and jewelry.

"Mo Jianing, this isn't the first time you've talked about breaking off our friendship. Since you want to break it off so badly, then let's do it," Xia Qingtian said, looking at Mo Jianing.

They had been desk mates in junior high and classmates throughout high school, naturally becoming best friends.

She had always felt that although Mo Jianing was a bit vain and liked to take advantage, her nature wasn't bad, and she often helped her strategize against her stepmother and stepsister.

As it turned out, she was terribly wrong.

"Qingtian, did you not do well on the college entrance exam? Didn't your father hire a tutor for you? It's okay if you didn't do well, your family is rich enough to send you abroad. You're so smart, you can retake the exam for a year and get into your ideal university!" Seeing Xia Qingtian's expression, Mo Jianing no longer dared to act spoiled and immediately coaxed her in a soft voice.

Even a glance from Xia Qingtian felt disgusting, her eyes filled with a murderous intent that couldn't be hidden.

"Wh-what's wrong!" Mo Jianing didn't understand why Xia Qingtian was still like this even after she tried to appease her.

Her eyes darted around, and Mo Jianing thought of something else: "Did Uncle Xia not allow you to enter the entertainment industry? Did you argue with him again?"

"Qingtian, let me tell you, you can only take a detour. You haven't been to school recently, so you might not know, but virtual idols are very popular among students now! Why don't you go down this path!" Mo Jianing's eyes lit up as she said, "Then no one will know you're the Xia family's heiress, and Uncle Xia won't feel ashamed."

"Is that so?" Xia Qingtian sneered. "But someone still needs to manage the account, right?"

"Don't I have me!" Seeing that Xia Qingtian had taken the bait, Mo Jianing immediately patted her chest and said, "Qingtian, we're best friends, don't you trust me yet! I'll manage the account for you first, and when Uncle Xia softens his attitude, I'll return the account to you."

"But what about commercial performances and occasions that require public appearances?" Xia Qingtian asked.

"Then I can attend on your behalf. You sing in the back, and I'll lip-sync for you in front," Mo Jianing said. "Many celebrities do this!"

"Then even if you return the account to me, people will still remember this face of mine, so what's the point?" Xia Qingtian said.

"Wh-why no point! At worst, I'll issue a statement later. We're best friends, how could I harm you?" Mo Jianing raised her voice, as if trying to prove how credible her words were.

Seeing Mo Jianing's clumsy and poor acting, Xia Qingtian smiled.

Hadn't Mo Jianing harmed her enough?

She had done enough work for others in her previous life; one time was more than enough.

"Qingtian, you... you're smiling in a way that scares me a little," Mo Jianing felt a bit panicked. "What, you don't like this idea? Isn't this a good idea? Really!"

"Then I'll consider it." Xia Qingtian gave Mo Jianing a meaningful glance and turned to leave.

Having stepped on the honor and glory she had enjoyed in her previous life, Mo Jianing should now face the consequences.

Seeing that there was hope, Mo Jianing pestered Xia Qingtian, incessantly talking about her plans and strategies, clearly having made thorough preparations.

Xia Qingtian only felt annoyed by the noise. Finally reaching the entrance of the examination hall, Xia Qingtian immediately spotted Aunt Liu and Xia Qingyu.

Xia Qingyu seemed somewhat unwilling, standing beside Aunt Liu with her hands behind her back, awkwardly avoiding Xia Qingtian's gaze. Aunt Liu, however, waved enthusiastically, her face wearing her usual gentle smile.

"Why are your stepmother and stepsister here? Maybe they think you didn't do well and are here to laugh at you!" Mo Jianing had also seen them, her voice sharp to the point of being malicious. "These two bitches have occupied our home and are definitely here to fight with you for the inheritance, pretending to be decent people! Qingtian, I definitely support you."

Xia Qingtian merely glanced at Mo Jianing and then walked directly towards Aunt Liu and Xia Qingyu.

Thinking that there would be good entertainment, Mo Jianing's eyes glinted with a smile as she immediately followed.

She knew Xia Qingtian well; with her fiery temper, she could be set off by a single spark.

After what she had just said, Xia Qingtian would surely want to tear that mother and daughter apart.

She, however, loved watching Xia Qingtian behave like a shrew the most.

"Aunt Liu, why are you here?" Xia Qingtian asked, approaching Aunt Liu.

"It's the last day of the college entrance examination. I saw in past years' interviews that parents would come to pick up their children, so I thought I'd bring your sister to pick you up," Aunt Liu said with a gentle smile, urging, "Qingyu, do you have something for your sister?"

Called by name, Xia Qingyu finally handed over the small bouquet of pale purple hydrangeas mixed with white gypsophila that she had been hiding behind her back: "For you."

Xia Qingyu lowered her eyes, unable to understand why her mother always liked to humiliate herself.

She could imagine what unpleasant words Xia Qingtian would say, and perhaps even throw the flowers back in her face.

Xia Qingtian was always like that.

"Thank you, I like it very much." Xia Qingtian looked at the bouquet, a smile on her lips.

Hearing Xia Qingtian's words, Aunt Liu showed a pleased smile, while Xia Qingyu was full of shock.

Until Xia Qingtian got into Aunt Liu's car and the car drove away completely, Mo Jianing, who remained at the scene, couldn't recover from her shock.

What was going on with Xia Qingtian? Had she taken the wrong medicine? What was happening!

Meanwhile, in an office on the top floor of the CBD building.

"Mr. Gu, this is all the information on that girl," the person standing beside him said.

The handsome man, dressed in a dark suit, fixed his gaze on the screen. On the desk beside him lay a spread-out file. "I understand. You may go."

"Yes."

"Xia Qingtian." After reviewing all the information, Mr. Gu leaned back in his chair, muttering the name, a meaningful smile playing on his lips. "The Xia family's heiress, who was supposed to break her leg in a car accident, then become depressed and disappear from the social circle of socialites, and finally die in a fire due to an accident..."

This was Xia Qingtian's original destiny.

Mr. Gu narrowed his eyes slightly. She was actually changing her fate?

Was it her own ability...

Or...

Was someone interfering with her destiny?
