The other party was clearly stunned. They felt the cold iron object pressed against their palm, pushing their hand back out of the car window.
As their hand was pushed out, the others finally saw that a gun barrel had followed it out.
Behind the gun barrel was Xia Qingtian’s expressionless face.
“Want to die?” Xia Qingtian’s stern face and clear eyes held a naturally cruel aura. “I only have one gun, with 14 bullets. Why don’t you line up?”
These people were originally hired for a kidnapping. They had intended to cause some trouble and lure Xia Qingtian out of the car to abduct her by force.
Who knew Xia Qingtian would actually have a gun, and it was clearly a real one?
Weren’t they supposed to be kidnapping a relatively unknown minor celebrity?
How could this be…
Seeing the real weapon, these people were somewhat intimidated. They each took a step back. Before they could figure out what to do next, they saw the car surge forward with extreme dominance, forcefully shoving aside the car blocking their path. It then reversed and sped towards the car that had blocked them from the side.
After the front of that car was dented inwards, this car, with the people watching, sped away at full throttle and soon disappeared from their sight.
The driver sitting in the passenger seat was trembling, one hand gripping the seatbelt across his chest, the other tightly holding onto the car handle above the passenger seat.
This car was driving too wildly!
Xia Qingtian, sitting in the back, held the gun in her hand, her whole body jolting with the car’s full-speed acceleration.
Soon, the car re-entered normal traffic. There were many vehicles on this road, which somewhat restricted Wen Jiu’s speed.
Both the driver and Xia Qingtian felt a sense of relief.
“Tsk.” Wen Jiu, however, seemed unsatisfied.
“Um, the rest of the way… I’ll drive,” the driver said weakly.
Wen Jiu didn’t refuse. She stopped the car by the roadside and gave the driver’s seat back to him.
As the driver got out, he walked around the front of the car and saw that the car’s front, which had been sparkling clean last night, was now severely dented. He silently shed about a liter of tears in his heart.
But he also knew that in the situation they were in today, if they hadn’t broken through forcefully, they would have shed more than a liter of blood.
As Wen Jiu sat back in the rear seats, Xia Qingtian returned the gun to her.
Wen Jiu put away the handgun and casually said, “My gun can only hold twelve bullets.”
Xia Qingtian blinked her eyes, then remembered her earlier casual remark. She chuckled dryly and said, “Oh, really? I don’t know much about guns.”
Wen Jiu didn’t say anything further but turned her gaze to look out the car window.
The rest of the journey was much smoother, and they soon arrived at the filming location.
On the other side, Uncle Yu Er could hardly believe his ears. “What? Failed? A gun? Car crash? Broke through the blockade? Are you fucking making a movie? Are you trying to extort more money?”
A group of grown men couldn’t even handle one woman, and they were spinning such a wild tale.
With gun control being so strict in Country Z, how could that Xia Qingtian possibly have a firearm?
What kind of nonsense were they pulling here?
“It’s true! We’re telling the truth!”
“Shut up! A bunch of useless idiots!” Uncle Yu Er said coldly. “I’ll go meet her myself!”
“Uncle, is it alright for you to go in person?” Yu Linwan looked at Uncle Yu Er, her tone hesitant. If Uncle Yu Er went personally, and encountered Gu Yaoyang…
Would that be too problematic?
“Or do you want to go?” Uncle Yu Er glared at Yu Linwan.
He wished he could tear Xia Qingtian apart right now. Anyone who dared to stop him was his enemy!
Upon hearing Uncle Yu Er’s words, Yu Linwan immediately fell silent, not daring to speak further.
She still remembered Gu Yaoyang’s warning. If Gu Yaoyang found out she was opposing Xia Qingtian again, her secret might truly be exposed.
At that point, she would be completely ruined!
Seeing Yu Linwan not daring to respond, Uncle Yu Er only snorted coldly and strode out.
This Yu Linwan was also useless.
He had entrusted his only son to her care, and now she had turned him into a cripple!
After he dealt with that Xia Qingtian, he would come back to deal with Yu Linwan properly!
Damn it!
Anyone involved in this matter, he wouldn’t let any of them go!
They all deserved to die!
Yu Linwan watched Uncle Yu Er’s retreating back, not daring to speak rashly. She could only frown and curse Xia Qingtian in her heart once more.
Upon arriving at the set, Xia Qingtian immediately greeted the director.
“Sister Ning briefed me. I thought you’d want another day or two to rest,” the director said with a smile as he walked up to Xia Qingtian. “We don’t have any scenes scheduled for you today.”
“It’s fine, I can practice my lines and get into the zone,” Xia Qingtian chuckled. “Being able to watch the seniors act is also a learning opportunity.”
“Alright then, watch and learn,” the director said, and left her to it.
Xia Qingtian then quietly watched from the side. Meanwhile, Wen Jiu contacted Wen Ning to report the ambush on the road and the damage to the car.
Wen Ning acknowledged the report and said that other vehicles would be arranged for Xia Qingtian’s transportation.
“Actually, it’s not that troublesome. My motorcycle is quite good, and it definitely won’t give anyone a chance to ambush us,” Wen Jiu said proudly.
“Just shut up,” Wen Ning didn’t even know where to start to retort. After giving Wen Jiu a few stern warnings not to cause any trouble, she hung up.
Wen Jiu, using the staff pass Xia Qingtian had gotten for her, bypassed the ongoing filming and walked up behind Xia Qingtian. “How is it?”
“Why isn’t Xiaoxiao picking up her phone?” Xia Qingtian had just wanted to report her safety to Li Mengxiao and perhaps arrange to have lunch together.
But Li Mengxiao’s calls were going unanswered.
“Maybe she didn’t hear it?” Wen Jiu asked.
“Possibly…” Xia Qingtian had just finished saying this when the call was answered.
“Hello,” seeing that the call was connected, Xia Qingtian immediately put the phone to her ear. “Xiaoxiao, why are you taking so long to answer?”
“Xia Qingtian.” A man’s voice came from the other end of the phone. “Li Mengxiao is in my hands. If you want her to live, do exactly as I say.”
“You can choose not to come, or you can call the police, but…” The person on the other end paused, then let out a short laugh. “Prepare to collect the body of your little assistant.”
Hearing the other party’s words, Xia Qingtian’s heart leaped into her throat, and her entire body tensed up.
She immediately thought of the incident on the way here, and her brow furrowed. “Okay, tell me.”
After Xia Qingtian hung up, she looked at Wen Jiu. “How’s your tracking coming along?”
“It’s alright,” Wen Jiu said casually, with her arms crossed. “Track who?”
“Me.”
