Xia Qingtian’s beautiful eyes shifted as she picked up her phone and dialed Ling Fenghan’s number. “Idol, are you busy?”
“No, Lu Songtao seemed to have something on and went to find Qiu Xinxue, so I’ve taken a break,” Ling Fenghan replied, placing his water glass aside. “What’s up? Did something happen?”
“No,” Xia Qingtian said vaguely, her mind racing. She simply said she was bored alone and wanted to help.
“You’re still restless even after being bitten by a snake!” Ling Fenghan jokingly chided Xia Qingtian, before reminding her not to push herself and to rest.
“Then, keep this phone call I’m making to you a secret, okay?” Xia Qingtian reminded him, as if an idea just struck her. “I don’t want people to think I’m just trying to get screen time.”
She didn’t want Qiu Xinxue to realize she was suspicious, so she needed Ling Fenghan to keep this call confidential.
“Don’t worry,” Ling Fenghan assured her. He knew there were too many hidden currents in this industry, and it was good that Xia Qingtian was thinking ahead. “Rest well, I’ll come see you later.”
“Okay, Idol, you’re truly the light of humanity!” Xia Qingtian chatted with Ling Fenghan for a few more moments before hanging up.
Clutching her phone, the smile on Xia Qingtian’s lips vanished instantly, and her gaze turned sharp.
Seeing Xia Qingtian’s expression change, Li Mengxiao felt a little intimidated.
“Xiaoxiao, you should go back and rest. Your phone might not be returned until later,” Xia Qingtian said after a moment of thought, turning to Li Mengxiao. “Tell me which staff member helped you buy it. I’ll transfer the money to them later. For today, just pretend you know nothing.”
Li Mengxiao nodded at her words and obediently left Xia Qingtian’s room.
After Li Mengxiao departed, Xia Qingtian dialed Mobius’s number. “Are you busy?”
“No,” Mobius said, gesturing to an employee who was about to speak. He covered the phone’s microphone with his hand and said, “Meeting adjourned. You all can take a break.”
With that, Mobius walked straight out of the conference room amidst the shocked gazes of everyone present.
Assistant Lin immediately had tea and snacks prepared and served.
On the other end, Mobius asked as he walked, “What’s wrong?”
“Have you looked into Qiu Xinxue?” Xia Qingtian asked tentatively.
“I have,” Mobius replied. “Did she offend you?”
“Not exactly.” Xia Qingtian recounted what Lin Yirou had told her the previous night, combining it with the day’s events, and shared it all with Mobius.
After hearing Xia Qingtian’s words, Mobius was silent for a moment before asking, “What is your contact name for me?”
“Mobius,” Xia Qingtian replied.
“You should change that contact name,” Mobius said, understanding what was happening.
“What?” Xia Qingtian asked.
Mobius entered his office before continuing, “Not many people know I’m called Mobius, but this name is very convenient for me to do some less-than-reputable things.”
Xia Qingtian fell silent for a moment. “So, Qiu Xinxue is interested in Mobius?”
“There are many people interested in this name, but few of them are good people,” Mobius said with a slight smirk.
“Aren’t you also doing some questionable things under this name?” Xia Qingtian raised an eyebrow.
“That’s not important,” Mobius stated. “What’s important is that in the hearts of certain people, you and Mobius have a close relationship. That’s not a good thing.”
“It’s not easy to define whether something is good or bad,” Xia Qingtian remarked. “If it can be utilized properly, even bad things can turn into good, can’t they?”
“Little fox,” Mobius chuckled. “What do you intend to do?”
“What can I do? They’re in the shadows, and I’m in the light. This situation can’t continue. Why not play a bigger game?” Since Xia Qingtian was ready to focus on her career, she wanted to clear out the hidden threats around her.
“It’s best not to. They are very cunning,” Mobius advised, drawing from his experience. He felt it wasn’t the time for risks. “Listen to me, be good.”
Her earlobes tingled with warmth, and Xia Qingtian’s lips curved downwards slightly. “What if I’m not good?”
“Heh heh,” Mobius let out a soft laugh. “If you’re not good, then so be it. I’m always here. If you get into trouble, I’ll take responsibility.”
Hearing Mobius say that, Xia Qingtian felt her heart skip a beat. That kind of statement was too much!
What was she supposed to do now?
It was as if he was telling her there was a pit ahead, and she could jump in without worry because he had a ladder.
What was this?
Did he think of her as an unreasonable, disobedient, troublesome child?
This was too much!
Hearing Xia Qingtian’s continued silence, Mobius could almost imagine her lively expression on the other end of the phone.
Those bright, expressive eyes, her slightly pouting red lips.
“I’m not teasing you anymore,” Mobius said. “Do you know which company Qiu Xinxue is from?”
“New Dream Entertainment Company in L City?” Xia Qingtian recalled.
“This New Dream Entertainment Company is a relatively small entertainment company. The legal representative’s surname is Su, and her name is Su Wan.”
“Su Wan!” Xia Qingtian was also acquainted with her. Director Su had left in a hurry back then, and she hadn’t seen Su Wan since.
Speaking of which, Su Wan had been quite devoted to Song Junhan.
“Are you saying…” Thinking of that angle, Xia Qingtian’s eyes suddenly lit up. This involved Song Junhan’s machinations.
“Although Song Junhan is not officially listed, New Dream Entertainment Company is one of the channels he uses for money laundering,” Mobius replied. “Song Junhan and Su Wan are currently a couple. New Dream Entertainment Company is a subsidiary of the entertainment company that Song Junhan manages as deputy general manager in L City.”
“And you also know the legal representative of that entertainment company.”
“Su Wan’s father,” Xia Qingtian pieced together the relationship. “So, it was this father-daughter pair who got Song Junhan out of trouble back then?”
“We haven’t found evidence of that yet, but… it’s unlikely,” Mobius said. “According to the information I have, Director Su is very dissatisfied with this future son-in-law. He has even stated on multiple occasions in public that Su Wan is single, and the father and daughter have had unpleasant disputes. Song Junhan also seems to be maintaining a flirtatious relationship with the only daughter of another major commercial tycoon surnamed Zhao in L City.”
“Ha,” Xia Qingtian couldn’t help but laugh.
What an arrogant Song Junhan.
In her previous life, how he had been belittled and humiliated as a son-in-law to the Xia family, he wanted to repay his pride with the lives of everyone in the Xia family.
And the result?
Without the Xia family, there was the Su family, the Zhao family…
This proud Song Junhan, it seemed, was destined to be a live-in son-in-law.
Wonderful, truly wonderful!
This time, Xia Qingtian would ensure he couldn’t even be a professional live-in son-in-law!
A hint of determination flashed in her eyes, Xia Qingtian’s lips curved upwards, but her gaze grew even sharper.
