Chapter 1646 The Idea

Was it Yu Yan?

But did she have such great ability? Killing people is not something ordinary people can do.

A Dong suddenly said, "Could it be because of his son?"

"Son?"

A Dong nodded. "Although he's no longer involved with him, he still has a legal relationship. His son is a gambler and reportedly owes a lot of usurious debt."

This made sense, as debt collectors would do anything to complete their tasks.

But there was nothing here for them. Killing someone over debt?

"It seems that if we find his son, we'll know what's going on."

Li Chonglou's gaze sharpened, and he already had a plan.

"Let's go, we'll go together."

Although it was late at night, A Dong had already found the information, and the approximate location was not hard to find.

Everyone had forgotten the old man's son's real name. They only knew him by his nickname, Big Dog. He always loafed around like an idle dog, a common trait of gamblers, who, having accepted the thrill of unearned gains, found it hard to return to honest work.

The key was that gambling did not truly bring profit, at least not for most people.

As for the location, it wasn't far from where the old man lived, only about a half-hour drive.

"He owes so much money, do you think we'll really find him if we go there?"

In the taxi, A Dong looked at Li Chonglou doubtfully.

"Let's go and see first."

He primarily wanted to confirm something. If the old man's son truly owed money, and was being heavily pursued by creditors, then they wouldn't be able to find him now. If that were the case, he had a follow-up plan.

However, if they could find him this time, it would be almost certain what the situation was.

So, Li Chonglou didn't say much to A Dong's doubts, until the taxi brought the three of them to a small town.

The townspeople were long asleep, with only two or three shops still lit, but their storefronts were deserted, with no customers in sight.

Li Chonglou and A Dong went straight to a shop owner to inquire.

"Hello, is there someone named Big Dog living around here?"

The owner was a middle-aged man with a very smooth head and a belly like a woman in her sixth month of pregnancy. He was cleaning while wearing slippers.

Upon hearing the question, the owner glanced up at them before lowering his head again.

"No need to look, he ran off long ago. If you go to his house now, you might still be able to grab a bowl or two."

The three of them were bewildered.

However, they clearly heard the word "ran off."

"Boss, what do you mean he's not here anymore? When did this happen?"

The owner suddenly looked up at the clock on the wall and chuckled, "You guys are quite dedicated. It's already three in the morning and you're still chasing debts. I don't know if I should call you diligent or foolish."

"What did you say!"

Ah Hai's temper flared instantly, but fortunately, A Dong stopped him.

However, he didn't speak politely either. "Boss, I advise you to watch what you say, don't bring trouble upon yourself."

They were people of the underworld, and they hated being called foolish. After all, if they had the brains to study, why would they be in this line of work?

However, the owner was completely unfazed by their threats.

His expression didn't change at all. "What's the use of you shouting at me? I don't owe you any money."

Saying this, he picked his nose and scratched his back with the same hand.

It was this action that made Li Chonglou notice a large tattoo on the lower part of his back.

So, he was also from the underworld, or at least he certainly had been.

Li Chonglou smiled and said, "Boss, you've misunderstood. We're not here to collect debts. Big Dog doesn't owe us any money."

"I've heard that excuse before. He owes your boss money, right?"

The owner rested his hands on the broom and turned around, standing there in a nonchalant manner.

A Dong and Ah Hai also noticed the owner's unusual demeanor and frowned.

But they didn't want to cause any more trouble. A Dong said directly, "Let's go, it's useless asking him."

Li Chonglou rolled his eyes at him and then, ignoring A Dong, continued to explain, "Boss, you've truly misunderstood. We're here mainly to notify him of something. But since he's not here, then forget it."

After speaking, Li Chonglou turned around and gave A Dong and Ah Hai a look.

Strange, what good idea could he have for a chatterbox like that? The two of them still didn't understand Li Chonglou's intentions. If Da Bao were here, he would probably understand instantly.

Li Chonglou was a little disappointed by their reaction, but fortunately, the owner behind them spoke up.

"Wait a minute, what do you need to notify Big Dog about? Who are you to him?"

Not here to collect debts, and coming in the middle of the night, the owner's brow furrowed involuntarily.

Li Chonglou turned around and smiled, "We don't know Big Dog, and as for what it is, forget it. We'll tell him ourselves when we find him."

To his surprise, the owner suddenly gave a cold smile.

"This trick is a bit too low-level. Do you really think I know his whereabouts?"

In his opinion, Li Chonglou's words were just trying to extract information, to trick him, and to be seen through by him!

But his reaction was even more comical to Li Chonglou. I never said I thought you knew Big Dog's whereabouts!

This guy's reaction was a bit excessive.

But this was good, at least it confirmed that he did know Big Dog's whereabouts.

Just as Li Chonglou was about to speak again, A Dong pulled him aside.

"Uh, Brother Hua, you don't actually believe his nonsense, do you?"

"Hmm?"

A Dong glanced at the owner and then said in a low voice, "Ah Hai and I both came from debt collection. We know these kinds of people best!"
