Chapter 1006 Private Investigator

"Private detective?"

Li Chonglou was somewhat surprised. He hadn't heard the term in a long time and didn't expect it to still be somewhat effective. However, he wasn't satisfied with this outcome.

"If that's the case, then the person you're talking about could be found with a little effort. This probably won't be very effective."

Li Chonglou shook his head. Zhou Tong pondered for a moment and then said, "Then let's make something out of this. Set a trap for her?"

Li Chonglou's expression froze. He looked at Zhou Tong with confusion.

"Ahem, I mean something like a honey trap. There's a saying, right? If we don't have evidence, we create it?"

"Uh, since when did you become so devious? Are you suggesting framing her?"

Li Chonglou's brow furrowed slightly. This move was indeed a bit underhanded, and directed at an ordinary person. Seeing Li Chonglou's displeased expression, Zhou Tong couldn't help but whisper, "This won't do?"

Li Chonglou remained silent.

Zhou Tong dared not speak again. Although he felt this was the most effective and fastest method, it still required Li Chonglou's approval, as it was a somewhat unorthodox approach.

Just as he was about to suggest changing their line of thought, Li Chonglou suddenly said, "No, this method can work, but you need to make sure it's not seen through."

Zhou Tong's expression was startled. "I thought you disagreed based on your expression."

Li Chonglou shook his head. "I'm not a saint. Some methods should be used when necessary, if there are no better alternatives."

Zhou Tong smiled with relief and nodded, then left again.

"I need to find an excuse to keep him here for now. He can't know about this news yet."

Li Chonglou rubbed his chin. This wasn't difficult, but there was still an uncertain factor: Fan Jian, who was supposed to come today.

If this guy also received the news, he would definitely tell Chen Pao!

"No, I still need to intercept him first."

A glint flashed in Li Chonglou's eyes. It was his territory, so intercepting Fan Jian wouldn't be difficult, but the prerequisite was to get Chen Pao out of the way first.

With that in mind, Li Chonglou immediately found Chen Pao, and also called for Rou Shan and Eagle Eye. Kuminan hadn't returned yet; otherwise, he would have definitely been called too.

"You've been here for a few days. I plan to take you guys to have some fun nearby today."

Chen Pao immediately frowned and said, "I thought it was something important. Did you forget that person is coming today? We two don't have time for that."

Li Chonglou smiled. "It's fine. I've arranged for someone to rush back as soon as the person arrives. I might have to go out tomorrow, and I don't know when I'll have free time then."

Chen Pao's frown hadn't eased, but then Eagle Eye, standing beside him, suddenly said, "Then you have to take us out today. This is my first time here too. As the boss, shouldn't you show some hospitality?"

Rou Shan had no reaction to this. People of his stature always attracted attention in crowded places, so he never felt much about going out to relax.

No one had really taken him out before.

Seeing this, Chen Pao could only nod. After all, Li Chonglou had done his groundwork, and Eagle Eye had spoken up. To object further would be disrespectful. They weren't very close friends, and preserving face was more important.

When Li Chonglou saw Chen Pao nod, he secretly breathed a sigh of relief. He then took them to a popular spot nearby to relax. He also sent a message to Zhou Tong to inform him of the situation.

However, what Li Chonglou didn't expect was that while they were getting massages, Eagle Eye cautiously leaned closer and whispered, "Boss, did I cooperate well this time?"

Li Chonglou was stunned. "What?"

Eagle Eye blinked rapidly, and Li Chonglou finally understood, his expression changing slightly. "You know what I'm planning?"

"Hehe, I can probably guess. That guy Chen Pao isn't simple, and you seem to be short of manpower. Who would believe you if you didn't have some ulterior motives?"

"Shush!"

Li Chonglou glanced back. Chen Pao was currently receiving a massage from beautiful women along with Rou Shan. Of course, they were all professional, given the time of day.

Seeing this, Eagle Eye continued, "Don't worry, he won't hear about this. So, shouldn't I get a commission increase?"

Seeing Eagle Eye's expectant look, Li Chonglou was somewhat speechless. "Are you that short of money?"

But Li Chonglou was indeed surprised. When Eagle Eye spoke up earlier, he thought the guy genuinely wanted to go out and have fun, not to cooperate with him.

"Yes! Why wouldn't I need money! Do you know how much each of my bullets costs?"

Li Chonglou actually didn't know, but he knew that the bullets Eagle Eye used were specially made. He had witnessed their effects firsthand when capturing those experts, and they were somewhat similar to the new weapons.

The difference was that his required breaking through defenses to be effective, whereas the new weapons were essentially a sure hit upon contact, with much better results.

Eagle Eye said with a hint of helplessness, "The most expensive bullet costs a hundred thousand dollars! One bullet, a hundred thousand dollars!"

Li Chonglou was shocked. He knew that Eagle Eye had used more than twenty rounds then. So, his expenditures alone were two million dollars?

That was unbelievable!

Li Chonglou mercilessly exposed him. "I believe you about the most expensive one, but you weren't using that kind before."

Eagle Eye was a little embarrassed. "You saw through it? But they're not cheap either."

He didn't elaborate on how expensive they were, but Li Chonglou didn't dwell on it.

"Alright, stop talking. We'll discuss this later. It's just money, that's easy to handle."

"Huh?"

Seeing that Eagle Eye still wanted to say something, Li Chonglou gave him a look, and the latter then hesitantly stepped aside.

Did I just give him a vague promise? Or force-fed him one?

Eagle Eye tilted his head, looking at Li Chonglou, deep in thought.

Meanwhile.

An hour and a half after the group left the company, a plump figure slowly shuffled over from a distance.

"Damn driver, a black car! He dropped me off a few kilometers away. It's not like I'm that heavy, why give such a ridiculous excuse."

The person was Fan Jian, but at this moment, he was muttering to himself, looking dejected.

Earlier, when he hailed a taxi, there were still a few kilometers left, but the driver's car suddenly stalled. When he got out to check, the driver claimed it was because he was too heavy and his old car, over a decade old, couldn't handle it.

The driver was quite considerate and offered a refund, but Fan Jian was provoked by the word "heavy" and simply walked away, not even bothering to call another car, and walked all the way here!

"Hmph, I will definitely lose weight! Just you wait!"

Fan Jian's resolve to diet became even stronger. Seeing that he was nearing the agreed-upon meeting point, his eyes couldn't help but light up.
