Hu Han's expression shifted slightly upon hearing Hu Fei's words.
"How did you know about this?"
Hu Fei chuckled, "With Second Master suddenly falling ill, a matter of such magnitude, how could I not know? Did you think this could be kept secret?"
"But Second Master's official statement was a sudden heart attack! The number of people who know about this so far is definitely less than ten!"
Hu Fei's expression faltered for a moment, then he abruptly changed his tone, becoming somewhat tense. "It's none of your business how I know. This is Second Master's office, and you shouldn't think of bringing idle people in!"
Before Hu Han could speak, Hu Fei continued, "Second Master's health hasn't fully recovered; he's working while ill. If something happens because of this, can you bear the responsibility?"
What a grand statement.
Li Zhonglou watched Hu Fei silently. This fellow, aiming to deal with Hu Han, was constantly targeting him, clearly not wanting him to see Second Master. In the past, he would have lost his temper and taken action long ago.
Unfortunately, the circumstances had changed. It wasn't about achieving goals through fighting and killing anymore. Li Zhonglou could only remain silent.
Fortunately, although Hu Han came from a poor background, his composure was far greater than that of these rich young masters. Seeing Hu Fei falsely accusing him, he coldly stated, "Whether it affects me or not, I don't know. But I do know that if the old man learns his good grandson is being blocked from entering his own home, someone will have to bear the consequences."
Hu Fei's face changed drastically. It seemed he had only just remembered this wasn't his Third Uncle's territory, and he instinctively took a step back.
Seeing this, Hu Han intended to lead Li Zhonglou past, but to his surprise, Hu Fei blocked them again.
"If you block me again, believe it or not, I'll make you crawl out of here?"
The anger that flared in Hu Han's eyes was the first time he had acted like this in front of Hu Fei. In the past, he would usually ignore the other's provocations, even if they were excessive, he would merely glare back.
Instead of acting like he was now, staring at him fiercely as if he would lash out at any moment!
Hu Fei was also startled and instinctively took another step back, saying somewhat suspiciously, "Don't mess around, I'm telling you. I have a legitimate reason for stopping you."
Hu Han frowned, "What do you mean?"
Seeing that Hu Han no longer seemed on the verge of action, Hu Fei breathed a sigh of relief. If it were someone else, he might have dismissed it as a threat. But Hu Han, who he knew grew up in an ordinary family, genuinely struck him as someone who could resort to physical action!
Relaxing, Hu Fei said, "It seems you still haven't memorized the Hu family rules. If this gets out, your reputation as the Second Young Master will be undeserved."
Hu Han no longer wanted to bicker with him, and said sternly, "Stop with the nonsense! If you have something to say, say it. If you have nothing, then let me pass!"
Hu Fei chuckled and shifted his gaze directly to Li Zhonglou, "If you want to go in, show me your pass."
As Hu Fei spoke, he extended his right hand. Hu Han's expression instantly became surprised, and then he seemed to understand.
Li Zhonglou had no idea about any passes, so he could only look at Hu Han. Hu Han sighed and explained, "According to the rules, when outsiders visit, they need to be registered by the external affairs department and enter with a pass issued by them."
The reason Li Zhonglou was able to enter earlier was solely because no one dared to stop him due to his status as the Second Young Master.
Actually, if Hu Fei hadn't brought it up, he would have almost forgotten about this rule.
When he first entered, he had strictly followed this rule for a period. However, he later found that not only was he the only one in the entire company doing so, but the external affairs department itself only had one or two people, and sometimes they were nowhere to be found. Many guests were delayed because of this.
So, he eventually went with the flow and treated this rule as if it didn't exist.
However, it was one thing for no one to mention it, but once it was brought up, the rules had to be followed. Hu Han hadn't expected Hu Fei to use this tactic.
Hu Fei seemed to have seen through Hu Han's thoughts and couldn't help but say with a smug smile, "I advise you to get your pass properly before coming. Although the higher-ups usually turn a blind eye to such matters, if it really reaches the elders, who do you think will be in trouble?"
Hu Fei crossed his arms, looking at Hu Han askance with a nonchalant demeanor, the corners of his mouth curling up. His smug expression made one want to punch him.
Hu Han's face became extremely unpleasant. Just then, he felt a pat on his shoulder.
Hu Han instinctively turned his head, only to see Li Zhonglou standing calmly behind him, saying in a slow voice, "It's alright, it's just a pass. You can take me to get it done. We're not in a hurry anyway."
"Oh, so you're not mute after all. I thought our Second Young Master had brought back a mute."
Hu Fei mocked. Hu Han was about to retort when Li Zhonglou held him back.
"He's just barking a few words. Let's go get the paperwork done."
Hu Han glared at Hu Fei one last time before giving up and leading Li Zhonglou back to the elevator.
It was only after they entered the elevator that Hu Fei realized Li Zhonglou had used the word "barking" just now.
"Damn it, that guy called me a dog!"
Hu Fei instinctively rushed towards the elevator, but stopped after a couple of steps.
"Forget it, the main business is more important! Hmph, you little punk, I'll remember you. Don't let me see you again!"
Hu Fei said fiercely towards the elevator, then returned to the waiting area, sat down, and made a phone call.
Not long after he finished his call, a man in a suit and tie emerged from the office at the end of the corridor and approached Hu Fei, saying softly, "Fifth Young Master, you can go in now."
Hu Fei's eyes lit up, he nodded, and followed the man into the office.
Meanwhile, Hu Han led Li Zhonglou to the external affairs department.
As expected, it was empty again.
A hint of annoyance flashed across Hu Han's face, but he suppressed his emotions and went to the desk, dialing the number left there.
"If I don't see anyone within fifteen minutes, you don't need to come in tomorrow!"
Hu Han hung up immediately after speaking. After a while, he finally calmed his emotions and said to Li Zhonglou.
"I apologize, Senior Li. We'll wait here for a while."
Li Zhonglou smiled and said, "You don't need to apologize to me. I'm fine. Rather, you..."
