Not long after, the maid who went to deliver the message returned and whispered something into Qin Momo's ear. Qin Momo's gaze towards Qi Zhenzhen was filled with ferocity.
"Second Miss deliberately obstructed the midwives and physicians sent to assist concubine Ruyan's delivery. Madam has ordered that they be bound and dealt with after the Marquis returns to the manor," Qin Momo instructed the people she brought with her into the courtyard.
Most of them were unfamiliar faces, likely brought by the Qin County Princess Consort.
Speaking of which, although the Marquis of Changping was the son-in-law of the Qin County Prince's manor, he was still a titled nobleman. With Emperor Chongwen currently favoring him, it was truly disrespectful for the Qin County Princess Consort to treat the Marquis's manor as a mere extension of the County Prince's manor, bringing in a large number of servants to act arrogantly.
"You want to bind me? With just you lot?" Qi Zhenzhen sneered.
"Does Second Miss still intend to defy the orders of your legitimate mother?" Qin Momo asked.
"You're free to slander me, but do I have to stand still and let you do it?" Qi Zhenzhen's expression was playful, as if she found their actions foolish.
"Why are you still standing there? Are you waiting for me to bind you?" Qin Momo gestured to the people she had brought.
Just as Qi Zhenzhen was preparing to unleash her skills, Er Xi arrived with the little wolf cub.
"Miss, the physician from Baicaotang has been invited and is currently administering acupuncture to the Old Madam. The unfamiliar faces in the Old Madam's courtyard have all been tied up and locked in the woodshed by the servants. Madam Fang has asked me to tell you not to hold back and to let people be restrained. Whatever happens, the Old Madam will bear the responsibility," Er Xi said while subduing some people, not forgetting to speak to Qi Zhenzhen.
"Grandmother is awake?" Qi Zhenzhen asked, surprised and delighted.
"She's awake, but she can't speak very clearly yet. I couldn't quite understand her, but thankfully Madam Fang could. She understood," Er Xi replied.
As they were speaking, all the people brought by Qin Momo had been beaten to the ground.
Er Xi had not held back, and those people were groaning on the ground, unable to get up.
Qin Momo became flustered. "Second Miss, they, they are servants of the County Prince's manor. How can you be so audacious?"
"Er Xi? Where is this place?" Qi Zhenzhen asked slowly.
"Replying to Miss, this is the Marquis of Changping's manor," Er Xi answered loudly.
"Servants from the County Prince's manor are running wild on the grounds of the Marquis of Changping's manor and attempting to harm this Miss's life. Is it audacious for me to discipline them?" Qi Zhenzhen asked again.
Er Xi, playing along perfectly, said, "Let alone disciplining them, even if they were all beaten to death, no one could say anything."
Qi Zhenzhen stared at Qin Momo with a half-smile. "Momo, what else do you want to say? Or do you still consider yourself a servant of the Qin County Prince's manor? If so, you are truly an ungrateful wretch. You eat from our Marquis's manor, use things from our Marquis's manor, and it's bad enough that you don't feel grateful, but now you want to bite the hand that feeds you. Do you really think the Marquis's manor is the backyard of the Qin County Prince's manor, where you can do as you please?"
"Very well, very well, Second Miss, you are truly remarkable," Qin Momo said, flicking her sleeves. "Since Second Miss has said so, this old servant will not interfere."
With that, she shouted into the house, "No need to indulge them any longer. With Second Miss here to keep them in check, why would we need physicians and midwives? Come with me!"
Qi Zhenzhen gave Er Xi a look. Er Xi twisted Qin Momo's hands behind her back and kicked her behind the knee, causing her to kneel directly before Qi Zhenzhen. Those inside the house saw Qin Momo kneeling as they emerged, looking somewhat bewildered.
