Gu Sinian helped Qi Zhenzhen sit up, placing thick soft cushions behind her back.
"The midwife instructed that we shouldn't do it for too long, or you'll have back pain later," Gu Sinian said. "I also asked the doctor, and he said to be careful for the first few days."
Qi Zhenzhen hummed and tilted her head to look at Gu Sui'an.
She hadn't examined her closely before due to extreme fatigue.
Her eyes were closed, her breathing even; the little girl was sleeping soundly.
Her eyelids were narrow, suggesting her eyes wouldn't be small.
Her eyelashes were also long, like little fans, fluttering with each breath.
Her nose was small and a bit chubby, quite cute. Upon closer inspection, her nose bridge was quite prominent, indicating she likely wouldn't have a flat nose in the future.
Her fine, dark hair softly adhered to her forehead, with some oily substance along the edges, looking a bit unsettling.
"What's this?" Qi Zhenzhen asked.
"The midwife said it's vernix caseosa, formed because An'an received too much nutrition in your womb and couldn't absorb it all," Gu Sinian explained. "Babies with vernix will have skin like cream later. Don't worry about it; it will disappear on its own."
Qi Zhenzhen finally relaxed.
"Mother says she looks exactly like me when I was little," Gu Sinian said.
Gu Sinian didn't know what he looked like as a child, but if his daughter resembled him, well, he must have been quite good-looking. Yes, while Zhenzhen slept, he had been observing An'an, finding her beautiful in every way.
She wasn't entirely like him, as his mother claimed. Upon closer inspection, her facial structure and chin shape resembled Zhenzhen's.
Qi Zhenzhen pursed her lips and smiled, "She looks more like you."
Gu Sinian was clearly more beautiful, and she naturally hoped her daughter would resemble him.
Feixu brought chicken soup noodles. Gu Sinian took them, and Qi Zhenzhen wanted to eat herself, but Gu Sinian disagreed, insisting on feeding her.
Qi Zhenzhen couldn't refuse him and let him have his way.
"Zhenzhen is awake?" Madam Qin asked, her voice affected.
"Mother and the others are eager to see you and An'an," Gu Sinian said.
Qi Zhenzhen nodded, and Feixu withdrew to invite them in.
Madam Qin, Madam Yun, and Madam Xiao Qin.
"The son-in-law insisted we not come to see An'an, fearing it would disturb you and An'an's rest," Madam Xiao Qin muttered in a low voice.
"Mother, please speak normally, no need to force your laughter. Children are very adaptable," Qi Zhenzhen said.
"We're walking on tiptoe," Madam Xiao Qin said, glancing at Gu Sinian.
Qi Zhenzhen gave Gu Sinian a playful glare. "Why be so dramatic! Just act as you normally do! Otherwise, the child will be difficult to raise later."
Gu Sinian touched his nose, feeling a little embarrassed.
"Look at this chubby little thing, so beautiful," Madam Xiao Qin praised. "She'll surely be a renowned beauty when she grows up. An'an knows who to resemble for beauty."
She then looked at Qi Zhenzhen again. "I'm not saying you're ugly, just that you're a bit less so than the son-in-law."
Madam Yun was also delighted. "She does resemble Zhenzhen a little; her eyebrows are like Zhenzhen's."
Qi Zhenzhen glanced at Gu Sui'an's faint, almost invisible eyebrows. Where did her mother see the shape?
As for the facial structure and chin Gu Sinian mentioned, they were all chubby and round, not at all like hers.
Perhaps sensing the many people surrounding her, Gu Sui'an grunted twice and opened her eyes, blinking as if greeting everyone.
"What beautiful big eyes! Mingzhu took several days to open her eyes back then. Our An'an is extraordinary from the start!" Madam Xiao Qin said with a smile.
"Zhenzhen and Yi'er also took several days to open their eyes," Madam Yun said.
"A Nian too," Madam Qin agreed.
Qi Zhenzhen didn't know what to say. These three were determined to highlight little Sui'an's uniqueness.
