The world's top snipers are few and far between, and even fewer circulate in the assassin market. This isn't a novel; don't expect every shot to be a bullseye. The closest vantage point recently was on a mountain a thousand kilometers away, so a real assassination isn't that easy to pull off.
However, this realization also made Lin Yan a little fearful. A sniper was something he'd encountered for the first time in his limited experiences with assassination attempts.
Four of Lin Yan's bodyguards were injured, none fatally. They had all been sent to the hospital. With Lin Yan being something of a public figure, the constables in Kata were remarkably efficient, dispatching many officers to search for the remaining assassin.
"Are you okay? Do you need to go to the hospital?"
Lin Yan looked at the gunshot wound behind Li Wei. The shot had hit his shoulder, the bullet lodging deep within without penetrating. Had it gone through, it likely would have struck Lin Yan directly.
"Young Master, I'm fine."
Seeing Lin Yan's concern, Li Wei felt the injury was worth it. It wasn't serious, a minor wound in his opinion.
After some basic treatment, the plane couldn't take off. Safety concerns needed to be addressed. Lin Yan had the injured sent to the hospital. Su Mojin had already recovered considerably, clearly not experiencing such a situation for the first time.
Having followed Lin Yan for so long, she had learned many things, including the fact that special forces soldiers in TV shows weren't invincible.
"Give them some extra bonuses this time."
Looking at the injured men, Lin Yan spoke to Su Mojin in a low tone. Su Mojin nodded in agreement.
Lin Yan's bodyguards were all skilled individuals from the military, not necessarily elite soldiers, but certainly considered the cream of the crop. However, this wasn't a superhero show; it was real life. Even special forces soldiers weren't as god-like as depicted in fiction.
As long as the assassin was armed with a gun, someone was bound to get hurt. This wasn't a matter of probability; for Lin Yan, it had become a near certainty. Long ago, two bodyguards had even died while shielding him from gunfire.
In response, beyond psychological comfort, Lin Yan could only do his best to financially support their families, as that was all he had.
Money was cold-blooded, but it could bring warmth to a family.
"The Song family, they truly deserve to die!"
Lin Yan rubbed his temples, a rare look of worry appearing on his face.
Although Lin Yan had never personally handled such matters, he knew their situations were similar. Assassins from the Song and Wei families were targeting him, and Lin family members were also targeting the Song family. However, the scope of his activities was too broad, offering too many opportunities for attack.
It seemed the complete resolution of the Song family issue needed to be expedited.
The two sides were now engaged in a fight to the death. However, because Lin Yan was more frequently out and about, his chances of being attacked were higher.
Sitting in a private lounge at the airport, Lin Yan, Su Mojin, and Zhang Mingzhi quietly waited for the plane's inspection to be completed. Although the aircraft was well-sealed, it still required checks, as no one knew if these people had tampered with anything inside. Lin Yan and the others couldn't afford to take even the slightest risk.
Zhang Mingzhi and Vinarres were fine, having experienced their fair share of turbulence. The recent events had thoroughly frightened Yan Xiaoqiang and Zhang Ningyu. All eight assassins had been eliminated by Lin Yan's bodyguards. It was their first time witnessing death, and they were clearly not coping well, having gone to the restroom to vomit several times since they arrived. The technicians weren't faring much better.
Li Wei went to a nearby hospital to have his wound treated and returned in less than half an hour.
After about an hour, once the plane was confirmed to be safe, everyone boarded and set off again.
"You weren't scared, were you?"
Sitting in the luxurious seats of the cabin, Lin Yan noticed his little lady's hands were still cold and asked.
"No, I was just thinking that the lives of rich people aren't that easy either."
Hearing Su Mojin's naive words, Lin Yan grinned. This little lady had gotten used to enjoying the good life with him and had started talking nonsense. It was true, although Su Mojin had a poor upbringing in her childhood, she had followed him before graduating from college. She hadn't experienced the harsh realities of society, otherwise, she wouldn't have said such a thing.
"If I had just stayed home and kept a low profile, would I have avoided all this?"
"I wish you would stay home and keep a low profile, but unfortunately, you won't," Su Mojin pouted.
The plane flew through the sky on its normal route. Lin Yan slowly lay down and closed his eyes to rest. Keeping a low profile would indeed be good, but such a life would be too dull and would lead to complacency.
Living a lifetime in obscurity would be too boring. Lin Yan, reborn, was here to set more records for this world.
At the same time, Fu Qingyun also received news of her son's attack. This noblewoman, nearing forty, rarely lost her temper. It was fine for Fu Qingyun to be angry; she held no real authority. The crucial point was that if the wife was angry, Lin Guoxiong would be in trouble.
While Lin Guoxiong was in charge of the Lin Group, Lin Guoxiong was managed by Fu Qingyun.
"If you don't resolve this matter properly today, you're not coming into this house tonight."
In the office of the Lin Group, Lin Guoxiong picked at his ear. Fortunately, he had dodged quickly, or his ears would have been deafened.
"Hmph, if I don't come back, I don't come back. What are you going to do about it!"
After the call ended, Lin Guoxiong muttered defiantly.
"Go investigate what happened. It seems I've been too lenient with them. Oh, and call Ah Dong over for me."
After hanging up his wife's call, Lin Guoxiong's temper flared. Again and again, were they forcing him to act at all costs? Fine, then he would play a big game.
At nine o'clock in the evening, Lin Yan landed at Dongcheng Airport. As soon as he disembarked, Lin Yan and Su Mojin, surrounded by bodyguards, got into a van and returned to the manor. Nothing happened on the way, as they were on their own territory.
