Chapter 626 Candlelight Dinner

The wings were positioned precisely at the rear of the car, behind Lin Yan’s seat. While it was perfectly fine during normal riding, it would likely cause some issues if he crashed.

After testing for a few laps, Lin Yan returned to the pit lane and switched to another car. He continued this until he had tried all four cars, finally finding the optimal combination.

It involved pairing the new aerodynamic kit with the older model race car.

In Lin Yan’s assessment, their straight-line speed was already more than sufficient, rendering any upgrades unnecessary. He believed it was better to compromise and improve their cornering stability, as cornering had always been their Achilles' heel.

With the plan confirmed, Lin Yan left the base and rushed to Yisheng International without delay. Su Mojin was filling in for him at his position today, and he needed to check on her quickly. It was the young girl’s first time at the company, and he was worried something might go wrong.

A screeching sound of brakes echoed as the RC213VS stopped at the entrance of Yisheng International.

The bike had been modified with a black graphic design, its "Black Warrior" style looking incredibly cool. As soon as it stopped, it attracted the attention of many office workers. However, once the rider removed their helmet, they timidly averted their gaze.

Tossing the helmet to the security guard at the entrance, Lin Yan strode towards the upper floors.

“Good morning, President Lin!”

“Good noon, President Lin!”

“Good day, President Lin!”

Greetings came one after another, indicating that the employees here were quite satisfied with Lin Yan as their boss.

Taking the elevator all the way to the top floor, Lin Yan pushed open the door and saw Su Mojin working diligently in the office.

The young girl was dressed in a women’s suit, her long hair cascading down, and a pair of gold-rimmed glasses perched on her nose. It was a classic "secretary allure," and she indeed looked somewhat like a boss sitting there.

Watching Su Mojin engrossed in her work, Lin Yan’s heart also settled, and he breathed a sigh of relief.

Perhaps to appear more formal on her first day at the company, Su Mojin had applied a light layer of makeup, a rare occasion.

“Didn’t you say you wouldn’t be able to come until the afternoon? How did you get here so quickly?”

Hearing the sound, Su Mojin’s gaze shifted from the computer screen to Lin Yan, who was walking towards her.

“Didn’t I just miss you?”

Stepping closer, Lin Yan pulled up a chair and sat beside her, watching Su Mojin work.

“Don’t even start. If I believed you, I’d be a fool.”

Su Mojin shot him a glare, not buying Lin Yan’s nonsense. Noticing his slightly dry lips, she turned and offered him her water cup.

Lin Yan quietly took it and took a sip. He had been in such a rush that he had indeed forgotten to hydrate.

“If you have nothing else to do, go into the inner room and look after the children for me. I still have some things to do here.”

“Ah? Okay.”

Lin Yan hadn’t expected Su Mojin to bring the children with her. Without hesitation, he walked into the small room within the office and became a full-time dad.

Holding one in each arm, he carried his two little treasures out of the room.

“What are you doing?”

Cradling his two little ones, Lin Yan looked at the computer screen Su Mojin was operating.

“There are some minor issues with your company. I’m helping you adjust them.”

Although the company was profitable, there were areas where profits could be maximized, and Su Mojin was currently addressing these, which was her forte.

Lin Yan knew that Su Mojin was a workaholic. Apart from a few initial conversations, she had been focused on her work, and he hadn’t expected her to work until late into the night.

“So tired!”

At eight o’clock in the evening, Su Mojin stretched and finally sat up from her chair.

As for Lin Yan beside her, he was already feeling drowsy. If it weren’t for having to look after the two children, Lin Yan might have fallen asleep himself.

“It’s all done. Let’s go home.”

A pleasant voice reached his ears. Lin Yan slowly opened his eyes and saw his young wife calling him. He stretched and sat up from the sofa.

“Is it finished?”

“Mm.”

Su Mojin nodded and gently picked up Yu An, who had fallen asleep on the sofa. Lin Yan shook his slightly groggy head, and the two of them, carrying the children, went downstairs.

Exiting the elevator, there weren’t many people left in the company at this hour, but the receptionists were still on duty. They had intended to greet their boss, but upon seeing Lin Yan and Su Mojin carrying sleeping children, the two receptionists quietly held back.

“How does it feel to be a boss for a day?”

Sitting in the car, Lin Yan asked, holding his wife’s hand.

“Very tiring, but I feel like this life is fulfilling.”

“Yes, you’ve worked hard.”

Lin Yan knew that Su Mojin was working so hard precisely to help him manage such a large company.

“What’s with you today? Why are you being so polite with me? I studied this, after all. If I don’t do this, what else would I do?”

Su Mojin gave Lin Yan a sidelong glance.

“Shall I take you out for a nice meal tonight?”

“No need. I’ll just cook something at home. I haven’t cooked in a while.”

“Okay, whatever you say. Li Wei, drive to the nearest farmers’ market.”

Upon returning home, Su Mojin bought a pile of groceries, and Lin Yan helped her in the kitchen. Since his wife had become pregnant, Lin Yan had rarely been able to eat Su Mojin’s cooking. This time, he could finally indulge his taste buds.

“It’s a shame you can’t eat it yet, otherwise I’d let you have a taste of my wife’s cooking.”

While serving the dishes, Lin Yan playfully poked Yu An’s little face with a finger, saying with a hint of pride.

Lin Yu An, nestled in his swaddle, revealed only a tender little face and two tiny hands. Seeing Lin Yan’s hand reach out, he adorably extended his own.

The three hands, one large and two small, met. Lin Yan’s hand was damp, and he released it with a light touch. Playing with his two little treasures, Lin Yan’s face was constantly adorned with a smile.

As several dishes were placed on the table, Su Mojin untied her apron, and the family sat down together.

This time, Lin Yan uncharacteristically opened a bottle of red wine. Both of them rarely touched alcohol.

“Wife, wait a moment. I’ll go find some candles.”

After the dishes were ready, Lin Yan didn’t serve them immediately. Instead, he went to the adjacent room to find some candles, then turned off the dining room lights, setting up a romantic candlelight dinner.

Lin Yan rarely engaged in romantic gestures; this was his first time doing something like this. Once all the candles were lit, the entire dining table gained a certain ambiance.

Candlelight dinner? It seemed to be just like this.

“Do simple home-cooked meals really warrant all this fuss?”

Su Mojin watched Lin Yan’s busy preparations without stopping him. After all, what girl didn’t like such an atmosphere? However, after he was done, pairing it with these home-cooked meals gave her a feeling of wanting to laugh and cry at the same time – it felt a bit mismatched!

“Of course, it’s worth it! Wife, the dishes you make are the most delicious I’ve ever eaten in my life.”

Lin Yan poured them both a glass of red wine. Su Mojin accepted it, and they clinked glasses. To ensure they could enjoy their meal properly, Su Mojin had already fed Yu An and Yu Ning before dinner.
