Chapter 447 The Beginning

Liang Yufeng finished a cigarette and went downstairs again. He sat down beside Lan Lan, pushed her onto the sofa, and began to kiss her fiercely, like a mad dog.

Lan Lan was not to be outdone, and bit Liang Yufeng’s shoulder in return. “Are you crazy? Why the sudden outburst? What’s gotten into you? Can’t you give me some warning?”

He was already immature, and he always liked to be unpredictable. Lan Lan was curious. “How did your previous women tolerate you?” Was it because he was too good-looking that they could endure his other shortcomings?

Liang Yufeng remained silent, pressing down on her and staring intently. His eyes seemed to burn with a raging fire. Lan Lan was lifted by him, her legs wrapping around his waist as they went upstairs.

After the passion subsided and Lan Lan had regained her energy, she gently kicked Liang Yufeng’s calf. “Do you have any medicine?”

The distracted man looked at her, his sharp brows furrowed. “Are you having stomach pain again?”

He knew her body intimately, but Lan Lan wasn’t actually experiencing stomach pain. What she wanted was a different kind of medicine.

“I mean, emergency contraception,” Lan Lan told him. “You weren’t wearing protection just now.”

Liang Yufeng’s expression shifted rapidly. “No.”

“Oh, then I’ll order some delivery. Can you get it for me?” Lan Lan picked up her phone. The moment she opened the delivery app, Liang Yufeng snatched it away. She looked up to see his face contorted with rage, as if she had committed some heinous crime. “What’s wrong now?”

“It’s not that far gone. You don’t need to take it,” Liang Yufeng said. “Taking medicine is bad for your health.”

“Mr. Liang, even a kindergartener has more comprehensive physiological knowledge than you,” Lan Lan lectured him. “There’s no absolute safety. Condoms are just the most successful contraceptive method. Compared to the harm of abortion, the morning-after pill is insignificant.”

After all this, the central message was simple: she didn’t want his child.

She eventually managed to snatch her phone back. Liang Yufeng knew he was in the wrong for not using protection tonight, so he complied with her request and went to get the medicine for her.

He sat on the other side of the double bed, watching Lan Lan swallow the morning-after pill. To him, it was a serious matter, yet she acted so casually, as if she had done it many times before.

Liang Yufeng couldn’t help but recall what she had said a few days ago, about her previous boyfriends…

“Do you often take birth control pills?” He regretted asking the moment the question left his lips, but it was too late.

“Mm, I was on long-term contraception a few years ago. This is my first time taking the morning-after pill,” Lan Lan teased him. “It’s rare to encounter someone as impatient as you, Mr. Liang.”

Liang Yufeng’s chest felt tight. “How many boyfriends have you had in total?”

“Mr. Liang, are you digging up the past with me? You’re not going to tie up all my exes again and make them sign agreements, are you?” Lan Lan joked carelessly, her tone playful and not at all serious.

“Just asking,” Liang Yufeng stared at the opposite wall. “It’s fine if you don’t want to say.”

“You’re so boring. Can’t you tell I’m joking with you?” Lan Lan counted on her fingers, calculating seriously, but then… “But I really had too many ex-boyfriends, I can’t remember.”

Liang Yufeng: “……” Although he didn’t speak, his expression clearly showed disbelief.

Lan Lan wasn’t lying about this. “I’m serious. Some of them might have stood in front of me, and I wouldn’t remember their names.”

Especially the ones from university; it was too long ago, and she wasn’t exactly known for her good memory. She needed to save her brain capacity for work!

Liang Yufeng reached out and cupped her chin. “If I don’t look for you, you’ll forget me too?”

“That’s not true,” Lan Lan said. “It was my first time, after all.”

Liang Yufeng: “……”

Lan Lan: “The time I asked you out for dinner, didn’t I call out your name?”

“Because I spoke to you first,” Liang Yufeng couldn’t forget that day. If he hadn’t spoken up, Lan Lan might never have recognized him. “You didn’t even look at me.”

“That’s because you’re more handsome and manlier now than before,” Lan Lan flattered him. “If you had called me, I would have immediately called out your name, right? I’m a very sincere person.”

Liang Yufeng chuckled. Her mouth had become even more formidable than before. He couldn’t win an argument with her back then, and it was even more so now.

After a long silence, Liang Yufeng said to Lan Lan, “I’ll remember to use protection from now on.”

Lan Lan replied, “Oh. I’m going for a check-up next week and will get some Yasmin. It’s fine if you occasionally forget.”

She believed Liang Yufeng didn’t have any bad habits; she knew quite a bit about his lifestyle.

However, Liang Yufeng’s expression turned serious. He disliked her casual talk about taking medicine. “Why do you always take birth control pills?”

“Today is the first time I’m taking them! Did you lose your mind?” Lan Lan tapped his head. Hadn’t she just explained it to him?

Liang Yufeng: “Isn’t Yasmin a birth control pill?”

“Are long-term pills and morning-after pills the same? I don’t take Yasmin solely for contraception,” Lan Lan said.

Liang Yufeng: “?”

Seeing his expression, she knew his physiological knowledge was lacking. Lan Lan had to explain. “After I started working, the stress was high, my hormones were unstable, and my period has been irregular lately, so I’m taking some hormone medication to regulate it.”

Lan Lan had encountered this issue when she was nearing graduation with her master’s degree. While she appeared to be an optimist, always cheerful on the surface, she had always been under considerable pressure, which intensified after she started working.

Her industry was fiercely competitive. In just two years, she had climbed to her current position, which required her to put in several times more effort than others. In her first year of work, she slept only three to four hours a day and often forgot to eat. Stomach problems and hormonal imbalances became occupational hazards.

The second year was slightly better, but recently, the pressure from the Tai case had increased significantly, causing her hormones to become erratic again. She had scheduled a medical check-up.

Liang Yufeng hesitated for a moment, but ultimately said nothing. He had wanted to ask her if she wanted to change jobs, but he knew from their university days that her aspirations lay in her current field.

“Let’s get some sleep,” Liang Yufeng said, pulling her into his arms.

The next day, Lan Lan rushed off to work again. When she talked about her work, she seemed energized, as if she had been injected with adrenaline. During breakfast, she was already looking at stock market trends on her tablet.

At seven in the evening, Liang Yufeng arrived at Yingfeng Tower for his appointment. Xu Zhengxi and Chairman Shang were already there.

Shang Ting was chatting with Xu Zhengxi. A smile graced Xu Zhengxi’s usually stern face, indicating how much he admired Shang Ting.

Upon seeing Liang Yufeng arrive, Xu Zhengxi arranged for him to sit next to Shang Ting. “Shang Ting, this is Yufeng, my youngest son. He’s studying in New York.”

Shang Ting’s eyes lit up when she saw Liang Yufeng; he was even more handsome than she had imagined. She extended her hand to him. “Hello, I’m Shang Ting.”

Liang Yufeng shook hands with Shang Ting, separating his hand from hers in less than three seconds.

Xu Zhengxi and Chairman Shang’s intention to matchmake them was obvious. During dinner, they kept teasing the two, even discussing where their children would study, as if the marriage was already settled.

However, Liang Yufeng, the person involved, had never participated in their conversation.
