Chapter 713 Advance or Retreat

Li Yue could only vaguely describe Feng Feng's situation. When the elderly couple heard that his girlfriend was seven years older than him, they were very surprised. Then, they earnestly advised him, "Young man, you just graduated, you're too young. Be careful not to be deceived."

"Anyone this age who isn't married must have a problem. Maybe she's just playing with you. You're too naive, don't let people waste your youth."

The elders' words were not pleasant, but Li Yue was not angry. He smiled and nodded, then emerged from the crowd.

He continued to walk forward, but their words kept echoing in his ears.

In fact, they were not wrong at all. With his intelligence and perceptiveness, he knew exactly what Feng Feng's attitude towards him was, better than anyone else.

Or rather, if anyone else were dating her, she would be the same.

Thinking of this, Li Yue suddenly thought of Shen Su again.

The expression and words Feng Feng used when she mentioned Shen Su to him were still vivid in his memory. What were her feelings for Shen Su now?

Li Yue couldn't help but laugh. Emotions, indeed, had nothing to do with rationality.

He had actually started to overthink these irrelevant things.

Because Li Yue did not come to work, the task of going to Jinhe fell upon Feng Feng, and she had to go in person. Feng Feng held a meeting at the office and then drove to Jinhe.

After registering at the front desk, she went to Shen Su's office.

When Shen Su saw Feng Feng, he nodded slightly at her and called out "General Manager Feng" in a businesslike tone. His gaze and attitude were normal. Combined with his previous behavior at the club, Feng Feng guessed that he had returned to normal.

This was for the best. They had a cooperative relationship, and it was almost impossible for them to never interact again. Maintaining civility was the best option. Feng Feng replied to him with the same attitude, and then they both got to work.

Feng Feng and Shen Su sat in the reception area of his office, holding reports and giving Shen Su a data update.

Shen Su clasped his hands together on the conference table, his gaze fixed on the documents, but his peripheral vision was on her.

Today, she was wearing a khaki blazer, a hip-hugging skirt, and a cream-colored shirt underneath, buttoned all the way to the top, exuding a sense of inviolable abstinence. It was this aloof demeanor that pushed the threshold of sexiness to its limit.

She often wore shirts like this.

Shen Su's mind involuntarily recalled the details of him buttoning her shirts in the past.

And the intimate and passionate actions between them. Many of her shirts had been ruined in his hands.

Recalling the past scenes, Shen Su's throat felt a surge of heat. He picked up the water by his side and gulped down half a bottle.

Fortunately, this action of drinking water did not arouse Feng Feng's suspicion. She was still focused on reporting the data to him.

By the time they finished discussing work, it was already noon. Shen Su glanced at his watch and said naturally, "Shall we have lunch together? Are you free?"

Shen Su had caused too much trouble before, making it impossible for Feng Feng to fully trust him. Now that he proposed having lunch together, Feng Feng did not immediately agree. She instinctively observed his expression and found that he seemed very candid, as if it were just a casual lunch between old acquaintances.

Feng Feng did not answer for a long time, and Shen Su said, "If it's inconvenient, maybe next time."

He was tactful and did not force her.

This eased Feng Feng's guard a little. She was not a narcissistic person, and Shen Su had not truly liked her before. However, that lingering regret would eventually pass. When things returned to normal, Shen Su was not a particularly aggressive person.

"No, I'm free," Feng Feng accepted Shen Su's invitation. "Let me treat you."

This surprised Shen Su. In fact, when he made the invitation, he had already prepared to be rejected, so Feng Feng's silence was within his expectations.

He didn't expect her to agree in the end.

Shen Su suddenly realized a way to interact with her: she didn't like people who were too overbearing. Advancing by retreating should be a good method, but this was only a preliminary guess, and further observation would be needed.

Feng Feng chose a restaurant downstairs from the Jinhe office building. The restaurant was crowded at noon. The two of them entered, chose a table, and sat down. After ordering a few dishes she wanted, Feng Feng generously handed the menu to Shen Su.

After ordering, Feng Feng picked up her water glass and drank some lemon water. Neither of them spoke.

Shen Su was always adept at social interactions and rarely encountered situations where he couldn't find a topic. Chatting with Feng Feng required great care. A slight misstep could touch her sensitive spots. She was too private, and what he wanted to know was precisely her privacy.

Feng Feng naturally noticed Shen Su's silence, which was different from his usual state.

It wasn't until the food was served and they started eating that Shen Su suddenly said, "Gu Song told me about the Ji Tong incident."

Feng Feng reacted for a moment and immediately understood what he was referring to. She showed no special reaction, only nodding faintly.

Shen Su: "I hope it didn't cause you any trouble. I've already reminded Gu Song not to bother you about past matters."

He specifically emphasized "past matters," as if to tell her that the past was over.

This also aligned perfectly with Feng Feng's expectations. Hearing Shen Su say this, Feng Feng became more relaxed. "It's nothing. Ji Tong didn't do anything, she's fine."

Shen Su smiled and nodded. "She is indeed fine."

Feng Feng had already learned the reason for their breakup. She didn't have much to ask about this topic, nor did she have the standing to ask. Therefore, this topic ended there.

Later, Shen Su said to her again, "Don't take some of Gu Song's words to heart. I've spoken to him."

Feng Feng shook her head. "I didn't take them to heart. He's your friend, and it's understandable that he considers things from your perspective."

She was calm and composed throughout, as if she didn't care about these things at all.

Shen Su was silent for a moment, then asked her, "Can we still be friends in the future?"

Feng Feng put down her water glass and smiled faintly. "Then why do you think I'm having this meal with you?"

Shen Su's suspended heart finally settled. He revealed a smile, and his demeanor suddenly relaxed.

After the meal, Feng Feng and Shen Su parted ways. They were polite to each other, and nothing happened.

Feng Feng paid for the meal, and Shen Su did not argue with her about it. After returning to the company, Shen Su sat at his desk and fell into deep thought.

Under the current circumstances, he could only maintain the status quo and keep in contact with Feng Feng. It was impossible to pester her like before, and even less possible to be forceful. Feng Feng wouldn't fall for that.

He could only place his hopes on Li Yue and Zhang Shuang.

Shen Su knew very well that Feng Feng was not someone who would be jealous or quarrel. With Zhang Shuang's influence alone, it was absolutely impossible for her to create a rift between Feng Feng and Li Yue and cause them to break up. Although Li Yue was young, his mind was mature, and he wouldn't do anything foolish.

Maturity had its advantages, but also its disadvantages. People who weren't "love-struck" wouldn't give up better opportunities for a relationship.
