Seeing Shen Su swallow the medicine, Feng Feng's expression softened slightly. She glanced at the time; it was only nine o'clock. The hangover medicine should take effect soon. Shen Su reeked of alcohol, and she couldn't let him sleep in the bed like this. At the very least, he needed to be a bit more sober to take a shower himself.
As Feng Feng was thinking this, Shen Su suddenly took off his suit jacket and began unbuttoning his shirt, muttering, "I feel uncomfortable. I'm going to take a shower."
Feng Feng said, "You can't even stand steadily right now. Wait until the hangover medicine kicks in before you shower."
Shen Su wrapped his arm around her waist, "You wash me."
Feng Feng didn't move, but her refusal was direct, "It's too much trouble. Wash yourself."
Shen Su persisted, "You won't even wash me, and you say you like me? President Feng, there's no one who chases people like you..."
Feng Feng began to doubt if he was truly drunk. "In that case, the bathhouse attendants must like you the most."
Shen Su's mind was likely too muddled to respond. After a pause, Feng Feng broke free from him. "You lie down on the sofa first. Once the medicine takes effect and you're a bit more clear-headed, wash yourself. I'm going to change."
With that, Feng Feng turned and headed back to the bedroom, showing no signs of lingering.
After the bedroom door closed, Shen Su's gaze regained its clarity. He adjusted his posture, raised his hand to rub his temples. Although not completely inebriated, he had indeed drunk a lot tonight. He hadn't drunk like this in a long time and wasn't quite accustomed to it. His head was pounding.
Just as Shen Su finished rubbing his forehead, his phone vibrated. It was Gu Song, sending a WeChat message asking how he was.
As Shen Su was about to reply to Gu Song, he heard the sound of the bedroom door opening. He immediately put down his phone, lay back down on the sofa, and closed his eyes.
The footsteps didn't approach. Shen Su opened his eyes and peeked. Feng Feng went directly to the bathroom. Shortly after the door closed, the sound of water could be heard from inside. Listening to the sound, Shen Su's mind began to conjure images of her standing under the showerhead.
His body temperature was already high from the alcohol. Coupled with this thought, he felt as though he was about to combust. Gu Song's terrible idea... But tonight had yielded some results for him. At least, Feng Feng had come to him.
Shen Su had anticipated that Feng Feng might suspect he was faking his drunkenness, given his reputation for being able to hold his liquor. However, even with such suspicion, she had still come. This was enough to show that she cared about him.
Feng Feng likely knew very well that he was using this incident to seek reconciliation. By coming to him, she had signaled that their previous argument was in the past... Shen Su looked up at the painting on the wall above his head, the curve of his lips widening.
After Feng Feng finished her shower, she did a quick skincare routine. Then, she took a brand-new bathrobe from the closet and placed it in the bathroom. Afterward, she went to the living room to find Shen Su.
Perhaps the hangover medicine was working. Shen Su was no longer slumped or lying down as he had been before. He sat up straighter, and his expression appeared much clearer. Feng Feng stopped and casually asked him, "Are you feeling any better?"
Shen Su rubbed his temples and nodded, "My head hurts a bit."
Feng Feng said, "You drank too much."
Shen Su didn't reply. Feng Feng reminded him, "Go take a shower. I put a bathrobe in the bathroom. You smell too strongly."
Shen Su grunted and, under Feng Feng's gaze, got up from the sofa and turned towards the bathroom.
Shen Su sat in the living room for a while. The smell of alcohol lingered around the sofa. Unable to stand the odor, Feng Feng opened the window for ventilation and, while she was at it, tidied up the sofa that Shen Su had disturbed.
While tidying the sofa, Feng Feng happened to see Shen Su's phone left there. She guessed it might have fallen out of his suit pocket. As Feng Feng picked up the phone, intending to place it on the coffee table, it suddenly vibrated. Simultaneously, the screen lit up, displaying a WeChat message from Gu Song.
Gu Song: [My idea was good, wasn't it?]
Just one sentence was enough for Feng Feng to piece together the whole story. She placed the phone on the coffee table, cast a faint glance towards the bathroom, and her lips curved slightly.
She wasn't surprised that Shen Su had faked being drunk. Gu Song's message merely confirmed her earlier guess.
However, this method of finding an excuse for himself was something even a twenty-something wouldn't do.
Feng Feng went to the dining room to wash some fruit and opened a box of yogurt. She sat on the sofa to fill her stomach. She hadn't eaten much at Lan Lan's place before being called away by Gu Song's phone call. She was feeling a bit hungry now.
Just as Feng Feng finished her yogurt, Shen Su emerged wearing a bathrobe. His hair was damp, his face was flushed, and he exuded a humid, ambiguous aura. The light from the ceiling reflected in his alluring eyes, making him look even more sensual.
Feng Feng's gaze swept over Shen Su, her expression devoid of emotion. She didn't initiate conversation with him.
A minute later, she withdrew her gaze and said calmly to Shen Su, "There are blankets in the wardrobe in the guest room. Go to bed early."
Shen Su understood her meaning. Was she suggesting they sleep in separate rooms? For a moment, Shen Su couldn't fathom Feng Feng's intentions. Seeing her stand up, Shen Su blocked her path. His gaze fell upon the skin of her chest, and the heat within him intensified. He placed his hands on her hips and leaned down to kiss her ear.
Unfortunately, before he could kiss her, Feng Feng pushed him away. Before Shen Su could ask, he heard her say, "You can't do this when you're drunk. Go to bed early."
This time, Feng Feng left decisively, leaving Shen Su standing alone, rubbing his temples. He knew he had no chance tonight. Shen Su's throat felt parched. He sat on the sofa, ate a few pieces of cantaloupe, and then took his phone to the guest room.
Upon entering the guest room, Shen Su realized this was the room Li Yue had once stayed in. The bedside cabinet still held a photo of the two of them, with their anniversary date inscribed on the frame. This was clearly something Li Yue had done.
Shen Su, already feeling agitated, became even more displeased upon seeing the photo. However, he couldn't destroy the picture, so he shoved it into the drawer. When he opened the drawer, he found condoms and some other items inside.
Shen Su's eyes immediately turned red. His anger didn't subside; instead, it burned even hotter. He could even imagine how Feng Feng and Li Yue had used these items.
Feng Feng slept quite well that night, but Shen Su barely slept, spending the entire night dreaming.
At six o'clock in the morning, just as dawn was breaking, he got out of bed and took a cold shower in the bathroom.
Feng Feng slept until eight o'clock. After washing up, she came out of the bedroom and saw Shen Su sitting on the living room sofa, staring intently at her.
Feng Feng pinched her neck and casually asked him, "Why didn't you sleep in a bit longer?"
Shen Su didn't answer the question. Feng Feng noticed his complexion wasn't good; he looked a bit pale.
Feng Feng walked over to the sofa, about to speak further, when Shen Su suddenly grabbed her wrist. Feng Feng stumbled, falling onto his lap.
She frowned, "What's wrong with you?"
