Feng Feng’s consciousness was clear, and there was no damage to her head. However, her ribs and legs were in great pain, so much so that tears streamed down her face.
Lan Lan and Lin Mei rushed over one after another after receiving the call from the hospital.
Xing Zheng also came with Lin Mei. He handled the hospitalization procedures for Feng Feng and secured a single room. Lin Mei and Lan Lan waited outside the emergency room for Feng Feng to be brought out.
Although the doctor said no vital organs were injured, Lin Mei and Lan Lan were still very worried.
Lin Mei: "She’s always so careful when she drives. How could something happen today… Has she still not gotten over the matter with Wen Zhouyuan?"
Lan Lan nodded, "Perhaps."
About ten minutes later, Xing Zheng, having finished the hospitalization procedures, came over and waited with the two of them.
After about half an hour, Feng Feng was brought out of the emergency room. She was lying on a stretcher, but she was conscious. Her leg, however, was in a cast.
Lin Mei immediately rushed forward and asked, "How are you feeling? Is your head injured?"
Lan Lan went to ask the doctor, "Doctor, what is her condition now?"
The doctor said, "Her leg is fractured, and her ribs have some issues, but it's not serious. She should rest well for a while. Family members should stay to take care of her."
Lan Lan confirmed, "Is there anything wrong with her head?"
The doctor said, "She didn't hit her head. However, if you're worried, you can get an X-ray tomorrow for a check-up."
After confirming the situation with the doctor, the group returned to the ward. Xing Zheng, finding it inconvenient, went to wait outside. Lin Mei and Lan Lan stayed to accompany Feng Feng.
Feng Feng’s right leg was in a cast, and the fracture was quite severe. The doctor said she needed complete rest for a period of time and arranged for a wheelchair.
"What happened to you today?" Lan Lan asked Feng Feng. "You're usually the most careful driver among us. Have you been too busy with work lately and not getting enough rest?"
Feng Feng replied with an "Mm," "Perhaps."
She didn't tell her two friends the real reason. It wasn't that she was afraid to admit it, but she didn't want them to worry. She had already accepted that there could be no breakthrough between her and Shen Su.
Lin Mei: "Take a few days off. If there's any work you absolutely need to handle, just do it online!"
Feng Feng called her supervisor and explained that she had been in a car accident. Upon hearing this, her supervisor became concerned. "How did it happen? Is it serious? Which hospital are you in?"
Feng Feng: "Don't worry, it's nothing major. It's just a fractured leg, and I can't walk for now, so I can't come to the office."
Supervisor: "Just work online. Your health is important. Don't rush. Come back when you're feeling better."
Feng Feng: "Thank you."
The supervisor had always treated Feng Feng well, mainly because he understood her and had confidence in her work capabilities, so he was at ease even with her working remotely.
After chatting with the supervisor for a few minutes, Feng Feng learned that he would personally visit her tomorrow to bring her work computer.
After finishing the call with her supervisor, Feng Feng glanced at the time; it was already 10:30 PM. She said to Lin Mei and Lan Lan, "You two should go back. You have work tomorrow."
"Huamei, you should go back. You have a child at home. I'll stay here with you tonight." Lan Lan couldn't possibly leave Feng Feng alone.
After resigning from her company, Lan Lan no longer had a fixed office job. After a period of rest, she was now taking on scattered projects and managing them herself, so her time was relatively flexible.
Lin Mei had a child at home, making it difficult for her to stay overnight. After giving them a few instructions, she left.
In the corridor, Xing Zheng was waiting for Lin Mei. "Is Feng Feng alright?"
Lin Mei: "Her leg is fractured, but otherwise, she should be fine. Lan Lan is staying tonight to take care of her."
Xing Zheng nodded. "Has she been too busy with work lately and not getting enough rest?"
Lin Mei: "It seems so."
Xing Zheng: "I'll find someone to arrange a caregiver for her. I'll have them come tomorrow."
After Lin Mei and Xing Zheng left, Lan Lan ordered takeout, and they ate supper together in the ward.
While eating, Feng Feng’s mind was still replaying the scene of Shen Su and Ji Tong interacting in the underground parking lot. As a result, she barely heard anything Lan Lan said while chatting with her.
Seeing Feng Feng spacing out, Lan Lan waved her hand in front of her. "CEO Feng? What are you thinking about?"
Called out by Lan Lan like that, Feng Feng snapped back to attention. "Thinking about today's work."
Lan Lan: "That doesn't seem like it."
After being good friends for so many years, how could she not know what Feng Feng looked like when she was thinking about work?
When Feng Feng had said earlier that she was distracted while driving due to work fatigue, Lan Lan had already felt suspicious. Normally, when Feng Feng was exhausted from work, she would absolutely not drive; she had absolute considerations for safety.
Lin Mei had secretly exchanged glances with Lan Lan earlier. Neither of them really believed it was due to work fatigue.
Lan Lan asked directly, "Are you still not over the matter with Wen Zhouyuan?"
Feng Feng lowered her head and pondered for a moment, then smiled faintly. "Not exactly."
Lan Lan: "Then is it because of Shen Su?"
The name was finally brought up.
Feng Feng: "You could say that."
Since she was asked, Feng Feng didn't deny it, but she didn't mention the scenes she had seen in the underground parking lot.
Lan Lan sighed, unsure of what to say. Having known Feng Feng for so many years, apart from Wen Zhouyuan back then, she had never seen her so distraught over another man.
Even Wen Zhouyuan back then hadn't driven her to the point of causing a car accident.
The next morning, Ji Tong went to the firm as usual, intending to find Feng Feng for work coordination. However, she was informed that Feng Feng had been hospitalized due to a car accident.
Ji Tong was somewhat surprised. "Ah? What happened to CEO Feng?"
Feng Feng had been fine when she left work last night. Could something have happened on her way home?
As Ji Tong was about to inquire further, she happened to see Director Liu, Feng Feng's direct supervisor. "Director Liu, is CEO Feng really hospitalized?"
Director Liu: "Yes, something happened on her way home last night. But it's not serious. She'll be working online for now. If you have any issues, just contact her on DingTalk or via email."
Ji Tong: "Which hospital is CEO Feng in?"
Director Liu: "Anzhen Hospital."
Ji Tong: "Okay, thank you, Director Liu."
Since Feng Feng wasn't there, Ji Tong went to handle other matters first. She left the firm and returned to Jinhe Foundation.
During her lunch break, Ji Tong went to Shen Su's office.
Shen Su wasn't aware that Ji Tong had returned and seemed slightly surprised to see her. "Didn't you go to the firm?"
Ji Tong: "I did go, but I came back."
Shen Su: "What's wrong?"
He stood up, walked over to Ji Tong, and habitually pulled her into a hug.
Ji Tong said, "CEO Feng had a car accident last night and is hospitalized."
Shen Su frowned. "Who told you that?"
He had been Feng Feng's casual partner for over two years. She was more careful than anyone when driving, so the possibility of a car accident was extremely low.
Ji Tong told Shen Su what had happened at the firm that morning. "Director Liu said so. He's going to see CEO Feng today."
