Chapter 798 The Strike

Feng Feng thought she was the only one who felt that way. Unexpectedly, just as she finished her thought, she saw Shen Su walk up to a set of goose-yellow baby clothes. He stared at them for a few seconds before saying with some longing, "A little girl would look so cute in this."

Feng Feng pursed her lips and smiled. It was rare to see Shen Su fantasizing like this. He seemed to have a particular fixation on little girls.

However, the baby clothes Shen Su had chosen were indeed very nice, with a goose-yellow base color adorned with small daisy prints and a matching baby hat. They were incredibly cute, so Feng Feng asked the sales assistant to wrap them up.

Later, Feng Feng and Shen Su picked out several more sets of clothes for baby girls. Generally, newborn baby clothes don't really differentiate between boys and girls, but when Feng Feng and Shen Su chose, they mostly picked styles with small floral prints, clearly intended for girls. It wasn't until the sales assistant asked if the baby's gender had been confirmed that they suddenly realized—

They didn't know if Lan Lan's baby was a boy or a girl. It was just that Liang Yu Feng had always said it was a girl, so they had subconsciously assumed it was a girl too.

Prompted by this, Feng Feng and Shen Su went to select a few more plain-colored outfits and some infant toys. They paid for everything and left. As Shen Su carried the shopping bags out of the department, his mood was complex. This was the first time in his life he had shopped for baby items with a woman. He had extensive dating experience and had been to almost every kind of place, but this was truly an uncharted territory for him—yet, he felt it was quite nice to shop with Feng Feng.

After buying the items, the two found a tea restaurant to eat. Once seated, Shen Su smiled and said, "I hope the next time we shop in a place like this, it will be to pick out clothes for my daughter."

Feng Feng didn't disagree with his words, but hearing him say "my daughter" still made her want to laugh. Nothing was set in stone, yet he was already looking forward to it. "It's not up to you to decide if it's a daughter," she said.

Shen Su was well aware of this. "I hope so. If not, it's okay. One child is enough."

Feng Feng joked, "I thought you were going to say that if it wasn't a daughter, you'd just keep trying until you had one."

Shen Su replied, "If I were the one giving birth, I would definitely say that. But since you're the one who would suffer, then perhaps not."

Shen Su understood the hardships of pregnancy. Childbirth carried immense risks for women, not only physically but also psychologically. Even putting aside other factors, Lan Lan's pregnancy had been relatively smooth, yet she still experienced many discomforts. Pregnancy was a challenging ordeal, especially for someone like Feng Feng, who was accustomed to working year-round.

Feng Feng smiled faintly. "What if I don't want any?"

Shen Su said, "That's okay too. Whether to have children is your freedom, and legally speaking, it's the same. If you don't want to have children, we can consider adopting a little girl."

As Shen Su spoke, Feng Feng observed his expression, as if to gauge his sincerity.

Many people said such things before marriage but few truly followed through. Quite a few couples agreed not to have children before marriage, only for one party to change their mind a few years later, leading to divorces. Shen Su had heard such stories frequently and knew why Feng Feng's eyes held a hint of scrutiny. "If you really don't want any, we can sign an agreement before marriage."

Feng Feng took a sip of tea. "I was just joking. I didn't say I don't want any."

In the past, she hadn't had any particular expectations or affection for children. When Feng Feng gave birth to Jing Chu that year, although she loved him, she hadn't intended to raise him herself. It wasn't until she saw Lan Lan's belly grow day by day that Feng Feng began to feel an inexplicable anticipation for a child. Especially during a trip abroad for Spring Festival, when she saw Shen Su playing with a little girl from Sicily, she unconsciously started to envision future scenes.

Lan Lan's child was born in mid-June. It was very hot that day in Nanjiang, but the sky was clear and blue. Lan Lan had gone to the hospital two days in advance to await labor. Liang Yu Feng stayed by her side, so there was no need to worry about any accidents.

Feng Feng and Lin Mei kept track of Lan Lan's progress in their group chat. Finally, during lunchtime, Lan Lan posted a photo of the baby in the chat. Feng Feng and Lin Mei both took leave to visit Lan Lan in the hospital.

As Feng Feng was packing her things, she received a call from Shen Su. He had heard the news from Liang Yu Feng. "Lan Lan's had the baby. When are you going to the hospital? I'll go with you."

Feng Feng replied, "I've already left the office. You go straight to the hospital, and we'll meet in the ward."

Shen Su agreed. "Okay, I'll go with Gu Song. See you there."

The office was not far from the hospital, and Feng Feng was the first to arrive. Lin Mei had gone back to bring Jing Chu along, which caused a slight delay. After meeting up, they headed upstairs.

Jing Chu became excited in the elevator because he had heard that Lan Lan had given birth to a daughter. Lan Lan had always told him that if it was a daughter, she would be his future wife. Although Jing Chu was young, he had a very good memory. As they rode the elevator upstairs, he kept muttering, "I'm going to see my wife."

Feng Feng and Lin Mei were both amused by his words. Lin Mei took Jing Chu's hand and said, feigning seriousness, "Jing Chu, don't say such things later."

Jing Chu didn't understand. "Why?"

Lin Mei replied, "Because the baby sister is still very young."

Jing Chu frowned. "Not sister, wife."

Lin Mei: "..."

Children's minds don't work that fast. Jing Chu was also a stubborn child, and Lan Lan's words had thoroughly "brainwashed" him. His mind was now filled only with the word "wife." This was mainly because he heard Xing Zheng call Lin Mei "wife" every day. His parents' affection was so strong that it made him yearn for the role of "wife."

Feng Feng was amused by their mother-son interaction all the way. As the three of them arrived at the ward, they happened to meet Liang Yu Feng coming out.

Feng Feng and Lin Mei stopped to chat with Liang Yu Feng for a few minutes. Jing Chu, however, was impatient. "Mom, let's go in and see her quickly!"

At this moment, Shen Su and Gu Song also arrived. Shen Su was carrying the gifts that had been placed in his car.

Shen Su had already heard that Lan Lan had given birth to a daughter, and Liang Yu Feng had now been promoted to the person he envied the most.

Shen Su wanted to go in and see the baby but was stopped by Liang Yu Feng. "It's not convenient yet. Wait a moment."

Shen Su thought about it and agreed. Lan Lan had just given birth, so it wouldn't be appropriate for him to go in.

Therefore, in the end, only Feng Feng and Lin Mei, with Jing Chu, went inside.

Lan Lan had already dressed herself. Apart from her pale complexion, she looked not much different from her usual self at first glance.

Feng Feng walked to the crib and saw the newborn baby girl. Her heart felt as if it had been struck by something.
