Chapter 1389: Chapter 1386: The Engraving on the Antique Ring (Extra 2)

However, David Redington had seen a glimpse of sky blue as soon as he stepped through the door.

“Still thinking about him?” David Redington walked up to Lily and asked softly.

“No… I’m thinking about Skye’s matter. Yesterday, I asked uncle to look for Mr. Wellington, but it’s been one day, why hasn’t there been any response?”

Lily didn’t know anyone from the Wellington family, the only person she did know, Dylan Wellington, had completely disappeared without a trace.

Joan Wellington was an option to contact, but she’d run away to avoid the Wellington family and was hardly able to hide; the only one left to contact the Wellingtons was Larry Scott.

“Silly girl, I’m your brother, you don’t need to hide anything from me.” David Redington didn’t continue Lily’s topic about the Wellington family, instead, he kept on talking about Aidan Lucas, “Aidan Lucas hasn’t left, he comes back to the Manor every night, right to the master bedroom. If you can’t let go, you can go find him.”

David Redington saw through Aidan Lucas’s tricks at a glance.

Playing pitiful to gain sympathy was indeed the easiest way to make a woman’s heart soften.

But, Aidan Lucas wasn’t ruthless enough in his act; it seemed he couldn’t bear to part with Lily.

If he had continuously stayed away, David Redington might actually have been deceived by his so-called ‘giving up.’

But he couldn’t stay calm; he came back every night, hiding in the dark and secretly watching Lily.

This allowed David Redington to easily see through his scheme.

Yet, it was precisely this ‘impatience’ that moved David Redington.

To make a man of deep thoughts do such a thing showed just how unique his love for Lily was.

“Brother, I won’t go find him…” Her slender fingers hidden in her sleeves clenched onto the brocade box Aidan Lucas had left behind.

Lily had opened and seen it; inside lay a quiet antique diamond ring and a USB drive.

But Lily was somewhat annoyed and didn’t check the contents of the USB drive.

“I don’t blame him for what he did to me, nor do I resent the misunderstanding he had about me. I’ve actually forgiven him a long time ago, brother… I know I’m useless, but I… but I truly love him so much. However… he deceived me with his and Lulu’s safety, and for that, I really can’t let it go.”

All else, Lily didn’t care about.

But this one thing made her feel played.

“Actually, he just cares about you too much…” David Redington didn’t realize that, unknowingly, he seemed to be speaking on behalf of Aidan Lucas.

As a man, he could understand Aidan Lucas’s approach.

Men are different than women; a mother might care a lot about this matter, but most men act with the mentality of ‘the end justifying the means.’

They have no idea that the small plans they arrange might infuriate a woman.

“I know… Brother, you don’t need to worry about me, these next few days I’ll be busy with Skye’s issue, so I won’t think about him. Don’t try to convince me, let me calm down for a while.”

After sending David Redington off, Lily went to the children’s room to lull the two little babies to sleep, then returned to her own room, took a shower, and went to bed.

She lay on the bed, holding the blue brocade box, and, on a whim, opened the lid.

The dignified and luxurious antique diamond ring appeared before her eyes.

Lily took the ring out of the box, staring blankly into the dim light.

“Why did he choose this ring?”

A large ruby was set in the very center of the ring mount, and surrounding the ruby were three layers of white diamonds sparkling like starlight.

The entire antique diamond ring was very heavy, and Lily tried putting it on her left ring finger; it fit just right.

Lily was briefly startled, reminding herself not to think too much.

She took the ring off, and as her finger slid through the ring, she accidentally touched the uneven engravings.

Was there something carved on the ring?

Lily hesitated for a moment, but couldn’t curb her curiosity, turned on the bright light, and flipped the ring over to look at the inscriptions.

A line of very small English letters was inscribed on the inside of the ring—’Thank you appear in my life’

Thank you for once appearing in my life.
