Chapter 520: Smell of Defeat!

Chapter 520: Smell of Defeat!

Chapter 520

"AHH! Smell that?" Thalos asked as he stepped out of the portal after Grey, both of them staring at the whole empty place around them. "That’s the smell of your defeat."

"Didn’t your mother teach you anything?" Grey asked as his pendant shone, instantly summoning his sword firmly into his grasp. "Don’t get so overconfident or you’re gonna end up kissing the ground like it’s your bride."

"Kek! Oh, we’ll see who’s cocky and who’s not." Thalos chuckled as he pulled out his dagger, the weapon vibrating before elongating back into his greatsword with a loud shing.

Placing it casually on his shoulder, Thalos lifted his free hand, signaling Grey to make the first move.

"As. You. Wish!" Grey called out calmly before he exploded from his position with a thunderous bang, cracking the ground beneath his feet.

In the blink of an eye, he appeared directly in front of Thalos, his sword swinging down with ferocious speed and strength.

"Too slow." Thalos whispered, and in the next instant, his entire body vanished. Grey’s blade sliced through nothing but air, missing completely.

Before he could stumble forward, Grey stomped his foot into the ground, grinding his stance firm. Pivoting sharply, he spun around just in time to see Thalos’ massive greatsword screaming toward him with terrifying speed.

"Oh shit!" Grey muttered, leaping away hurriedly. He barely escaped as the sword tore through the air in front of him with a loud whoosh, the force of it blasting hot air into his face.

The gust alone was enough to send Grey skidding backward several meters.

’I almost forgot how powerful Thalos really is. Shit! Even in this human form, he’s still stronger than any Stage 4 warrior I’ve ever faced.’ Grey thought in panic. But before he could regain his composure, the gargoyle was already right in front of him again.

"Didn’t I tell you? Your defeat was inevitable." Thalos grinned, swinging his sword upward with so much strength that the blade carved a trench into the ground as it shot toward Grey’s jaw.

"You should never underestimate a warrior mage." Grey said coldly. Without hesitation, a violent gust of wind burst around him, lifting his body high into the air at the last second.

BANG!

The greatsword cleaved the ground apart, leaving a deep scar in the earth that stretched forward, distorting the air with sheer force.

"AHHHH!" Grey roared midair, swinging his sword with every ounce of strength he had.

Whoosh!

A colossal slash of wind erupted from the blade, ripping through the air with devastating speed as it shot toward Thalos.

"Tch." Thalos scoffed, swinging his greatsword with frightening ease. The weapon smashed through the invisible wind slash, completely dispersing it in an instant.

But that was his mistake. The moment the slash left Grey’s sword, he had already kicked off the air itself, propelling his body forward. Now, he appeared directly behind Thalos, his breathing calm and precise.

’Gust of the Wind!’ he called inwardly as his technique activated.

BANG!

The wind wrapped itself tightly around the tip of Grey’s blade, amplifying its thrust as it shot toward Thalos’ back like a spear.

Sensing the shift in the air, Thalos instinctively spun around, his greatsword coming up just in time to intercept the strike.

The collision rang out with a deafening crack, the impact sending Thalos skidding several inches backward. The ground beneath their feet shattered violently, rocks exploding outward from the force.

Grey tightened his grip, pressing forward, but Thalos suddenly smirked.

"Eat my foot!" Thalos roared as he swung his massive leg upward with terrifying strength, his kick aimed directly for Grey’s face.

"Next." The warrior mage said as he twisted his body around while his sword was still being blocked by Thalos’.

He managed to avoid the foot swung at his face, which produced another loud bang. The moment his feet touched the ground, he burst forth from where he stood and withdrew his sword, swinging it from the side towards the gargoyle.

The blade was mere inches away from the gargoyle’s face when suddenly, Thalos disappeared from view completely. Grey’s sword harmlessly hit the air with a loud bang.

"You don’t think, you just act... and that will be your doom." Thalos’ voice wafted through Grey’s ears from behind. In an instant, Grey spun around while swinging his sword, hoping to catch the gargoyle off guard.

But unfortunately, he wasn’t behind him. Thalos appeared by his side, and in the next moment...

BAM!

A solid foot slammed straight into Grey’s ribs with so much force that it felt like his bones were cracking. His body was hurled away violently, and as he bounced off the ground, the impact tore cracks across the earth.

In a desperate attempt, Grey quickly slammed his sword into the ground, forcing his body to a skidding halt. No sooner had he done that when Thalos was already charging forward like a raging beast.

It didn’t take long before he was seen above Grey, his massive greatsword raised high over his head.

The Supreme Magus, on seeing this, widened his eyes as the gargoyle came crashing down towards him.

"Shit! You fucking statue, do you want me dead?!" Grey roared as he immediately spun away—just in time.

BOOOM!

The whole area quaked violently as Thalos smashed into the ground with his sword, the force instantly caving in the earth. Shockwaves erupted in every direction, blasting across several metres as chunks of stone and dust were hurled into the air.

The shockwave was so devastating that even Grey was struck by it, the impact sending him skidding a few more inches away. He barely managed to steady himself but still coughed out specks of blood in pain.

’How the hell did I forget how powerful and fast this bastard is?!’ Grey cursed inwardly as he forced himself up from the ground and staggered upright, sweat and grit smeared across his face.

Soon enough, Thalos emerged from the dust with an ear-to-ear grin splitting his face, his massive sword calmly resting on his shoulder.

"Ready for more?" The gargoyle asked, amusement glinting in his sharp eyes when he noticed Grey grinning back.

"Always ready." Grey replied without hesitation.

The next second, the duo exploded forward, charging at each other with full speed, the ground beneath their feet cracking apart from the sheer pressure.
