Chapter 516: A Crafting Genius!

Chapter 516

"Did it work? Did I succeed?" He mumbled under his breath as he slowly approached the dagger to see if his efforts paid off or if this was another failed experiment in another version.

Looking at the dagger, Grey examined it from top to bottom. It was a sleek dagger with a reddish hilt and a black blade, and currently, the thin crack on the blade looked to be pulsating slightly.

This made him close his eyes while still holding onto the weapon. After a few seconds, a smile crept onto his face as he quickly snapped his eyes open.

"It actually worked!" Grey exclaimed excitedly as he tossed the dagger up and down in his hand with a wide grin plastered across his face.

"Told you not to give up. Sooner or later, it’s going to work out as long as you keep trying." Thalos chimed in from the side, his stone lips curling into a smug expression.

"Yeah, yeah. Keep quiet now." Grey waved his hand dismissively in the air, causing a thin vein to bulge across the gargoyle’s head as he glared at Grey.

’Now how do I know the effect the dagger received?’ Grey thought with a small frown on his face as he stared at the weapon. Then suddenly, he remembered something.

The last time he came here, when he decided to craft pills, he drew a magic circle that broke down the component of the pills for him. That same method could work here if he made a few adjustments.

So he got to work. This circle was different from the pill circle as he made slight modifications. When he was done, he placed the dagger in the middle of it and then ignited the circle with his mana.

Instantly, the dagger lit up for just a second before a small cloud appeared in front of Grey, providing the information he sought.

"Hmm, let’s see." He muttered as he read through the description. "An earth tier ranked dagger that has been infused with the wind affinity. With this, strikes with the dagger would become sharper, faster, and silent. When hurled, the dagger would produce next to no sound, which is perfect for a sneak attack."

After reading this description, a wide smile appeared on his face as he stared at the dagger and then at his hands.

’Heck yeah! Perfect! Beautiful. This would actually be very helpful to me. Though it’s several ranks below compared to my sword, the effect is still perfect enough.’ He thought as he snatched the dagger from the magic circle and then made it disappear into his pendant.

"Okay, let’s try something with these robes too." He muttered as he drew another magic circle, then dropped a reddish robe into it and, without hesitation, ignited it with his mana.

This process took longer than the dagger. The runes of the circle glowed in layers, shifting from faint red to a blinding crimson before settling down again. Twenty minutes passed in silence, and finally, the robe along with the circle began glowing brightly for a full minute before dimming. Then, the robe floated softly down and landed harmlessly in the middle.

"What’s its effect?" Grey muttered as he could feel a faint aura pulsing through the fabric. His curiosity grew, so he quickly drew another analysis circle. A second later, glowing words appeared in front of him, and his brows furrowed at what he saw.

{This robe would allow the wearer to not be harmed by any fire attacks. Fire attacks would be nullified as long as the robe is fully worn.}

’Huh? What the fuck is this? I’m not even on my own world that supposedly is filled with mages, and here, I’m given this? Tch! What a failed work.’ Grey thought, and then he tossed the robe aside angrily, which earned him a raised eyebrow from Thalos.

"Huh? What happened?" The gargoyle asked as he stood up and strode towards the robe, which he picked up. "I can sense an energy pulsing through the robe, so I’m sure your experiment didn’t fail. Why did you toss it away then?"

"It’s a failed work to me." Grey simply replied as he grabbed his own mask that he had bought to hide his identity and then tossed it into the circle, ready to magically modify it.

Igniting it with his mana, the circle along with the mask lit up brightly for a full minute like the others, and after that minute, it dimmed back down as the mask slid onto the ground while Grey proceeded to appraise it with his magic circle.

’After the first failed attempt, looks like it’s become easier to craft items now. I noticed something— to get an effect for a weapon, one would need mana and a beast core or two to work with it. For mundane items like these, mana and maybe Ki should be enough for it.’ he thought as the mask now lit up and a small cloud appeared as usual.

{All-knowing Mask: The mask would allow the wearer to hide not only his face, but his voice would also be altered, and even his aura would be masked and hidden.}

A wide grin instantly stretched across Grey’s face after reading the information.

"Perfect! Now this is what I’m talking about. No need for me to stress myself trying to alter my voice on my own. Now, I can do it easily with just me putting on the mask." He muttered with a smile as he made the mask disappear into his pendant.

’I feel like it’s late now.’ he thought as he looked out the window at the pitch-black sky, but he shook his head with a mild yawn.

’Let me just work on one more item before I go to bed and recover my mana.’ he thought, and his choice of item happened to be the pair of red gauntlets.

Tossing them into the magic circle, Grey looked at them with a raised brow.

"Ah shit! I don’t have any beast core left." He muttered with a deep frown on his face as he glared at the circle.

"Maybe you should work on it tomorrow after getting a beast core so this gauntlet won’t just go to waste and shatter." Thalos suggested, and Grey nodded along as he rubbed his eyes.

"At least my experiment was a success. Which means I can confidently craft some equipment for Dame tomorrow, and when I’m done with him, it will finally be time for me to relearn my lightning magic." He grinned as he packed his non-crafted items into the sack, while the crafted ones were sucked into his pendant as he decided to go to bed.
