Chapter 330: Chapter 330. What a hassle.
Kailen had ensured that a shadow creature had gone through the teleportation portal with Ethan.
This was how he was sure that Ethan was at the other end of the teleportation gate.
This was because he was observing Ethan through the eyes of the shadow creature.
Kailen honestly did not care much about Ethan, but they had a deal, and it wouldn’t inconvenience Kailen in any way for honoring it.
Also, naturally, with the way Kailen treated those in his circle, he would have avoided a deal with Ethan because Ethan’s late brother had actually made things difficult for Anaya.
But this deal was something that could actually be a good way to secure an ally from the Sea realm.
Also, it would also be a good way to help Anaya get her revenge for the man’s actions and also secure protection for her family.
One thing she said, during the time she recalled what had happened between her and Farel, was that the leader of the Revearson clan tolerated his son’s actions and did nothing to stop it.
In a way, the Revearson clan leader’s excessive spoiling of his son had been part of the reason why Anaya had been put in such an inconveniencing position.
Plus, Anaya had family in Atlantis, and it was only a matter of time before the leader of the Revearson clan started to make things difficult for them after learning that Anaya’s boyfriend had killed his son.
All things in summary, Anaya’s family would only have peace with the man gone, even her revenge aside — and even if Kailen had decided to not get involved in the coup Ethan was planning against his father, Kailen would undoubtedly clash with the leader of the Revearson clan one day, because he had his principles, and he wouldn’t let the family of someone he cared about suffer injustice.
Had it been someone else he didn’t really have anything to do with, Kailen wouldn’t have cared.
However, Anaya was the woman of his brother, Lian Yu. Plus, Kailen treated Anaya as a friend too. So he had to intervene.
A clash with the man in the near future was therefore inevitable.
Why would he reject an opportunity to make the elimination of this man easier — an opportunity that included the same man’s son staging a coup against him?
Kailen, together with Ethan, had managed to come up with a plan concerning how to temporarily stall for time to protect Anaya’s family from Ethan’s father.
And they would be executing it soon.
But now, they had to deal with Vesper, and Kailen intended to honor his part of the deal with Ethan by letting him find closure and vent his frustrations on Vesper for what Vesper did to his girlfriend.
Currently, the shadow creature that had gone through the teleportation gate with Ethan had brought Ethan back to the swamp.
At the moment, Kailen, Ethan, and Zarek were currently standing in front of Vesper — currently crawling on the ground and panting in fear.
"Did you kill my girlfriend?" Ethan probed with undeterred anger, pain, and coldness.
Vesper’s expression morphed into one of fanatic glee as if he remembered the moment it happened.
"Obviously I’m gonna die here. I was always meant to die anyway from the day I made the decision to embark on this path for power.
Since there’s no need to pretend anymore, let’s be honest."
His crazed expression increased further as he replied to Ethan mockingly, "Oh yes. She was one tasty one. I enjoyed every bit of her last moments."
That was all the answer Ethan needed.
Several spears of water shot towards Vesper, impaling his hands and foot on the ground.
Since Vesper had become extremely weak at the moment due to his universe energy pathways being destroyed by Kailen, he was literally a crippled person and more of a non-awakener.
After all, his universe energy pathways that would direct universe energy into his being had been destroyed.
For this reason, Ethan’s attack, that would have under normal circumstances not even caused a scratch on him, caused him unimaginable pain.
Ethan went ahead to inflict all sorts of torture on the fellow.
As for Kailen, he stood by the side alongside Zarek and watched Ethan vent his pain and frustration on his woman’s murderer.
This was someone, according to Ethan, that he had been with for fifty good years.
Imagine that.
Even Kailen who had just been with Arrie for a short while ,couldn’t imagine what he would do to anyone that dared to harm her in any way.
So the frustration and emotional suffering Ethan was experiencing at the moment was understandable.
The only reason why he had not killed Vesper was because Kailen had decided to kill him himself for his personal reasons.
However, Vesper was currently bruised, mangled, with his bones twisted and broken in all directions.
He had blood pouring from every part of his body and he couldn’t even speak.
Naturally, Kailen and Zarek were not shocked or stunned by the sight. They were both individuals who had gone to extremes to torture their enemies in equal, if not more gruesome, ways.
So what Ethan had just done was not overwhelming.
Ethan stood over the pitiful, crushed body of Vesper, panting heavily with blood drenched all over him.
Using universe energy, he wiped the blood and filth clean from his clothes as if nothing had happened.
As for Vesper, he was currently begging the vimodial to do something.
However, the vimodial simply sighed, "How pitiful. I regret choosing such a weakling. Had I made a better decision, his life force would have been mine."
These words made Vesper come to his senses.
"Of course, I’m just a disposable vessel in the end. All you care about is yourself. What a pathetic way to die. To think I’d have regrets. Perhaps, I should have lived in the slums like a poor person. Maybe I would have been alive by now? I started as a weakling and I’m ending as a weakling. How pathetic.
I suppose this is karma — the price I pay for all the life force I’ve absorbed from all those people?"
Vesper was currently losing consciousness.
Everything was becoming extremely blurry around him.
Suddenly, he felt a sharp pain impale through his innards.
His vision somersaulted. His head rolled, and darkness encumbered him.
The vimodial assumed an ephemeral form, veiled from their sight, and disappeared from the environs.
"What a hassle. Now I have to find a new contractor," the creature muttered to itself, gave Kailen, who could not perceive it, one last obsessive glance before it bolted away.
Kailen sent Vesper’s corpse into his storage ring.
He’d have to turn the corpse into a shadow creature when he got to the rank 2 beginner stage ascendant level and had new slots for creating shadow creatures.
Kailen could have used any of the torture methods of the art of torture to siphon some of the information he needed out of Vesper before he killed him, but Kailen felt like by absorbing the memories of Vesper directly after turning him into a shadow creature, he would have a clearer picture of Vesper’s memories, his vimodial allies, and even their meeting place.
Kailen sighed. One pest had been taken care of.
It was time to take the Harkers down another peg.
