Chapter 999: Chapter 999: The Family Works Together
“No, we must! My mom’s been recovering well lately, and my brother is so happy about it. He insisted that I treat you to a meal. He’s too busy to do it himself, otherwise, he’d invite you personally. Xiaoyun, if you don’t agree, we’ll feel guilty.”
“Okay, how about I pick the restaurant?”
“Sure!” Jiang Yiqing nodded eagerly.
Then Mo Jun chose a hot pot restaurant nearby.
Hot pot is quite affordable and doesn’t cost much. Seeing how considerate she was, Jiang Yiqing felt even more grateful to her.
But Mo Jun didn’t hold back either, ordering a few meat dishes, which made Jiang Yiqing feel more at ease.
She truly wanted to thank Mo Jun; if she was too reserved, she’d feel even guiltier.
“Has your brother been boxing lately?” Mo Jun chatted with her while eating.
Jiang Yiqing nodded, “Yeah! He said the boxing market is pretty stagnant right now and there are too many competitors, so he wants to earn as much as he can while he can. But he said he’ll quit boxing by the end of this year and start a business with a friend.”
Mo Jun nodded, “That’s a good thing, boxing is really tough on the body. Starting a business is good too, you can earn more.”
“My brother thinks so too. He’s saved up some money but it’s not enough yet; he should have enough by the end of the year. And my mom is doing much better, so soon we can bring her home, and I can take care of her myself.” Jiang Yiqing spoke of the future with so much hope.
Mo Jun was also very moved listening to her.
Even though they were having a hard time, the whole family worked together, and there was no challenge they couldn’t overcome.
Unlike her own past, when she was all alone, and when life felt too hopeless, she didn’t even have anyone to lean on.
Mo Jun blessed her, “Yiqing, your lives are definitely going to keep getting better and better!”
“I think so too, especially with my mom gradually recovering, I feel like life is full of hope everywhere. Xiaoyun, it’s all thanks to you; really, we’re so grateful to you!” Jiang Yiqing said gratefully.
“I didn’t do much, it’s all your hard work. Come on, let’s toast to your future!”
“Okay! Cheers!”
Jiang Yiqing happily clinked glasses with her and took a sip of beer.
But just at her happiest moment, her phone rang – it was a call from the nursing home.
“Hello…” Jiang Yiqing quickly answered, but whatever the other person said made her face turn pale.
“What happened?” Jiang Yiqing asked anxiously.
“Miss Jiang, you should come as soon as you can; you’ll know when you get here.” The person from the nursing home couldn’t bear to tell her the truth.
“I’m coming right away!” Jiang Yiqing hung up and quickly said to Mo Jun, “Xiaoyun, something seems to have happened to my mom. I have to go now, I’m sorry, I’ll treat you another day!”
“What happened to your mom?” Mo Jun asked hurriedly.
“I don’t know…” Jiang Yiqing forced a smile, “But she should be fine. Sorry, Xiaoyun, I’m leaving!”
With that, Jiang Yiqing rushed off.
“Hey…” Mo Jun wanted to chase after her, offering to take her there, but was stopped by the waiter.
“Miss, you haven’t paid yet!”
Mo Jun had no choice but to pay the bill first. But when she got outside, Jiang Yiqing was nowhere to be seen…
Mo Jun felt a bit uneasy, not knowing what happened to her mother, hoping everything was alright.
