Chapter 1629: Chapter 1629: Stabbed in the Abdomen
Mo Lan was somewhat shocked.
She hadn’t expected things to be so complicated.
Even if they captured Qi Ruigang, it actually wouldn’t make much of a difference.
Ruan Tianling had already foreseen this point, which was why he hadn’t acted against Qi Ruigang.
However, he did manage to test the extent of Qi Ruigang’s concern for Mo Lan.
He didn’t know how much Qi Ruigang might change for Mo Lan, but having hope was better than having none.
Of course, no one else knew about his calculations.
Mo Lan clenched her hands slightly, her expression grim.
Qi Ruigang thought she was afraid. “Lanlan, come back with me. I’m the only one who can protect you. I’m telling the truth. What are you trying to achieve by staying with them? You have no real relationship with them. Sooner or later, they’ll get tired of you and abandon you.”
Such caring words—anyone who heard them would be touched.
If Mo Lan were sufficiently insecure, she would have certainly believed what he said.
Unfortunately, she had never been insecure. And coming from Qi Ruigang’s mouth, these words were even more ironic.
Mo Lan rotated the water cup in front of her. “Qi Ruigang, I didn’t expect you to have such thick skin, saying something so absurdly twisted. Do you take me for a fool?”
Qi Ruigang’s expression turned serious. “I’m telling the truth!”
“Ha—” Mo Lan sneered coldly. “Don’t make me laugh. What part of what you said is truthful? Sure, you and I are technically spouses, but the person who’s hurt me the most is you, not them! They may have no real connection to me, but their protection outweighs anything you’ve ever given me. Compared to them, you are nothing. What right and dignity do you have to say those kinds of things?”
“You…” Qi Ruigang’s face darkened to an ashen green.
He had sincerely meant what he said, but he couldn’t refute her words.
The one who had hurt her the most had always been him.
Qi Ruigang’s tone turned icy. “Regardless, you absolutely must come back with me! Mo Lan, I don’t have time to waste on you. If you refuse to come back, don’t blame me for using force!”
“Force? With what? Is there anyone here who follows your orders?”
Qi Ruigang: “…”
Mo Lan responded indifferently. “If you have nothing more to say, I won’t be keeping you company.”
She stood up to leave, but Qi Ruigang suddenly surged forward, grabbing her wrist.
Mo Lan instinctively wanted to call for help, but her lips were abruptly silenced—his lips crushed down on hers, swallowing all the words she had tried to utter.
Mo Lan seethed with rage and immediately began to struggle, but Qi Ruigang moved faster, pinning her against the wall—
Mo Lan’s hands landed blow after blow against his body, clawing at his hair, stomping on his foot, kicking his knee…
No matter how she attacked or struggled, it was all ineffective.
Qi Ruigang seemed like he had lost his mind, kissing her furiously, to the point where Mo Lan couldn’t even breathe.
His roughness quickly caused her lips to split, and the metallic taste of blood spread throughout her mouth.
Mo Lan continued her resistance, but her right hand slipped into her jacket pocket, pulling out a Swiss Army Knife—
“Hiss—” Qi Ruigang let out a muffled groan, swiftly retreating several steps.
The knife had stabbed him in the abdomen. Although the wound wasn’t deep, blood still began to pour out without pause.
Mo Lan’s lips were swollen and red as she gripped the knife, glaring at him with hatred. “If you come any closer, I swear I’ll kill you!”
Qi Ruigang’s face turned cold and sinister.
He pressed his hand against his bleeding abdomen, stunned that she had actually stabbed him.
Moreover, when she stabbed him, there hadn’t been a hint of hesitation. If his reflexes hadn’t been fast enough, the knife would have gone much deeper.
Qi Ruigang had always known Mo Lan to be a kind and gentle woman.
She wouldn’t even dare kill a fish, let alone a person.
