Enchanting Smile

Chapter 1650: Ruan Tianling, Don’t Blame Me

Chapter 1650: Chapter 1650: Ruan Tianling, Don’t Blame Me

Ruan Tianling sat up slightly. "Seven to eight hours? Why does it take so long to stew?"

Jian Yufei smiled and said, "Slow-cooking over a very low flame brings out the flavor."

Ruan Tianling took the bowl and downed it in one gulp.

He savored it briefly and said, "It does taste special, there’s a hint of herbal medicine."

"Of course, I used traditional Chinese medicine to stew it." Jian Yufei took the bowl and set it aside. She helped him lie down and said, "Get some rest early, stop reading the newspaper."

Suddenly, Ruan Tianling felt unusually drowsy. Being who he was, he quickly sensed something was wrong.

"Yufei, you..." He tried to prop himself up, but he quickly passed out.

Jian Yufei tucked him in carefully, her gaze flickering as she looked at him.

"Ruan Tianling, don’t blame me. You’ve always been the one protecting us, but now it’s my turn to protect you."

Jian Yufei placed a pre-written letter into his hand, pressing it down with the blanket.

She kissed his lips reluctantly, then steeled herself to leave, not daring to look back at him even once.

Outside, Awei was already waiting for her.

"Sister-in-law, we can leave now."

Jian Yufei nodded. "Let’s go."

She avoided looking at Ansel, primarily to prevent Mo Lan from growing suspicious.

Jian Yufei sat in the car, her heart heavy, as it sped her away.

...

London, city center.

The taxi stopped in front of the Claridge Hotel—

A waiter dressed in a neat uniform approached and respectfully opened the car door.

Jian Yufei stepped out, holding a child in her arms. The child nestled softly against her shoulder, wrapped in a coat, with only half of his sleeping face exposed.

Even though his full face was hidden, it was still evident that he was a very adorable and delicate Asian boy.

The waiter also helped Jian Yufei retrieve a suitcase from the trunk.

He was surprised to find that the suitcase was very light, as though there was hardly anything inside.

Heading into the lobby, Jian Yufei pulled out her ID card, visa, and credit card, saying lightly, "I reserved a room over the phone."

Luckily, the receptionist could speak Chinese.

He quickly located the room she had booked, took payment, and handed her the documents and room key together.

Jian Yufei took the room key and went to her room.

"Thank you!" She slipped the porter a small tip before closing the door.

She placed the child she was holding onto the bed, then drew back the curtains, opened the window, and glanced outside...

The hotel only had a few floors and wasn’t very tall; Jian Yufei’s room was on the third floor.

Additionally, the room had a balcony that aligned with the one below.

After surveying the layout, Jian Yufei took out her phone and dialed Nangong Xu’s number.

"Nangong Xu, it’s me. I’ve arrived in London."

"Where are you? I’ll come pick you up," Nangong Xu replied, showing no surprise.

Because as soon as Jian Yufei set foot in London, he’d received the news.

He had also confirmed that she had brought Ansel with her.

Jian Yufei said coldly, "I’m at a hotel. Bring the antidote with you. I must confirm the antidote is real before I’ll go with you. Otherwise, I won’t let you take my child, even if it kills me."

"Yufei, the antidote is real, of course."

"Do you think I’ll just take your word for it? What if you don’t even have the antidote at all? What if you’re just trying to trick us into coming back? Now that Ansel and I are here as you wished, the least you can do is prove the antidote is genuine."

"OK, which hotel are you at?"

Jian Yufei provided the address and then ended the call.
