Chapter 499: Chapter 86: Rival Scenes (Part 2)

"Okay."

In the afternoon, Shi Luoqi came knocking on Zhou Yun’s door.

She came to bring Zhou Yun some news.

"We’ve contacted Wui Zhichang, unfortunately, he has taken another film and is no longer available."

Zhou Yun was stunned.

No availability?

That couldn’t be right, just last night Gu Huaichun told her that Wui Zhichang was willing to do the film.

What happened?

But since Shi Luoqi said so, Zhou Yun couldn’t really say anything else. She couldn’t tell Shi Luoqi that just last night, she had spoken to Gu Huaichun and Wui Zhichang had been available. There must have been some issue that came up.

"What should we do?" asked Zhou Yun.

Filming had already started, and even though the scenes for the character Meng Fanyan wouldn’t be shot until later, finding an actor and getting them familiar with the script also took time. If they didn’t find a replacement actor quickly, there would be more trouble down the line.

Shi Luoqi said: "I will continue to search for actors on my end, and if you have any suitable suggestions, please recommend them to me so I can make contact."

The character Meng Fanyan is a scumbag, and many male actors aren’t willing to play him.

There were no suitable candidates among Zhou Yun’s acquaintances.

She actually thought Wui Zhichang last time was quite suitable.

After Shi Luoqi left, Zhou Yun immediately got in touch with Gu Huaichun.

"What’s going on with Wui Zhichang? The producer of my film just told me that Wui Zhichang has scheduling issues and can’t make it?"

"What? Hold on, let me ask," Gu Huaichun also seemed confused.

After a while, Gu Huaichun called back apologetically: "Sorry about this, he thought about it and decided to choose the other film. He has a pre-existing commitment to another project which had already been nearly finalized. When I contacted him yesterday, he didn’t think it through and agreed to join your project. But after giving it a lot of thought, he didn’t want to let them down at this point, so after weighing his options, he ultimately decided to back out."

"I see, okay then," Zhou Yun nodded, "There’s nothing that can be done."

"My apologies for the confusion," Gu Huaichun apologized to Zhou Yun.

"Oh, it’s fine."

After hanging up, Zhou Yun let out a sigh.

Actors dropping out, set designs rushing ahead; despite everything, it all still managed to come together.

It was only at this moment that Zhou Yun finally got to meet with Xue Qin.

Xue Qin had two dark circles under her eyes, clearly not having rested well.

"Director," Zhou Yun greeted Xue Qin cheerfully, forming a stark contrast to her.

Xue Qin took a good look and sighed: "How come you’ve put on some weight and you look like a pampered lady with no sense of life’s weariness?"

Zhou Yun: "..."

"I’ve been eating well, sleeping well, and my complexion is good," said Zhou Yun. "If you want the look of exhaustion, I’ll just stay up a few nights and add some makeup, and you’ll get your state."

Xue Qin yawned while covering her mouth with one hand.

"All right, then, I made you, a busy person, wait for a whole day. You must have been anxious, right?"

"Not anxious, slow and steady wins the race. How and when the crew shoots, I’ll follow your lead," Zhou Yun said. "Didn’t you get much sleep last night? You look soulless."

Xue Qin nodded, "Only got two hours of sleep, too many issues to deal with, and various troubles to solve."

"Then should you rest for a bit?" Zhou Yun asked.

"Rest my ass, I still need to review the possible actors’ profiles with Sister Luo Qi tonight, we haven’t found someone to play Meng Fanyan yet," Xue Qin yawned again. "Let’s not talk about this. You and Zhang Mo sit down and discuss tomorrow’s scenes and your understanding of the characters."

Zhou Yun nodded and took a seat.

She and Zhang Mo expressed their own insights and shared their interpretations.

Xue Qin nodded, "That’s the idea. I’ve seen both of you act before, and you’re both capable. Just don’t mess up tomorrow, I’m frazzled from these days of staying up late."

Xue Qin had her usual way of speaking frankly, which made Zhou Yun want to laugh.

Xue Qin hurried off to another meeting.

Zhou Yun and Zhang Mo stayed in the conference room.

"The director is really busy," Zhang Mo remarked.

Zhou Yun nodded in agreement and asked: "Shall we talk some more on our own?"

Zhang Mo nodded, agreeing.

"Do you think Zhong Qiulai and Wan Duoyan really love each other?" Zhou Yun asked.

Zhang Mo didn’t hesitate and nodded, "Definitely in love."

"Huh?" Zhou Yun was taken aback. "You’re so sure?"

Zhang Mo said: "If two people are not in love, they probably can’t date for that long."

"When I was reading the script, I kept thinking about this question. If these two are in love, then why doesn’t Zhong Qiulai accompany Wan Duoyan back?"
