Chapter 513: Chapter 391: Closing Eyes in Melancholy
Song Chi said, "It’s good that you’re fine, I was startled when I heard about the accident in your crew."
"Ah?" Zhou Yun didn’t understand why Song Chi would be startled.
Song Chi, "The news didn’t specify who was injured, and many people online thought it was you."
Zhou Yun was incredibly surprised.
She checked the internet for reports and understood why there had been such a misunderstanding.
Most reports were mentioning that an actor from "Falling Leaves" was injured on set by a falling light stand and was in critical condition at the hospital!
Of all the actors in "Falling Leaves," only Zhou Yun was well-known to the public.
Later in the evening, the official Weibo of "Falling Leaves" posted a clarification about the incident.
It was then that everyone found out, Zhou Yun was not injured; another actor was.
Zhou Yun read the clarification which was concise and did not mention how Luo Zhiheng got injured.
She texted Shi Luoqi, asking: "Sister Luo Qi, how is Luo Zhiheng doing now?"
After a while, Shi Luoqi replied, "Stitched up, out of danger, but still unconscious. The doctor said he needs to be observed in the hospital for a while."
Zhou Yun: "Are you still at the hospital?"
Shi Luoqi: "Yes."
Zhou Yun: "It must be tough, you should also rest early."
Shi Luoqi: "Xiao Yun, let’s have a meeting tomorrow morning, we might need to stop filming for a while."
Zhou Yun was taken aback.
She thought for a moment, then contacted Zhou Lan, and relayed to him what Shi Luoqi had just informed her.
Zhou Lan sighed and said, "I’m not surprised, either. The actor for Meng Fanyan has not been finalized yet, Luo Zhiheng is injured and in the hospital. The film can’t proceed. Xiao Yun, the key question is, are you willing to pause the shoot and resume later?"
Before Zhou Yun could reply, Zhou Lan continued, "Once we pause the shooting, it’ll be hard to reschedule later. You have several other films waiting ahead, all leading roles. You can’t have overlapping schedules."
"Now with Luo Zhiheng out of action, no one else can shoot, just me alone, maybe for a dozen days." Zhou Yun sighed. "If the person playing Meng Fanyan had been finalized, we could start shooting my scenes with him first. But since that role is not settled, what else can we do but pause?"
"Change the script, or replace the actors," Zhou Lan suggested.
"Change the script? That won’t do, I already like the script as it is, that’s why I took this role. If we change the script, what’s left to act? How can we swiftly change it? Unless we cut out both characters’ parts entirely, but then wouldn’t that just turn it into a one-person show focused on me again?"
Zhou Lan: "If changing the script won’t work, then it has to be replacing the actors; no matter where they look, they need to find quick replacements to continue shooting as planned."
"Based on what I know about Shi Luoqi and Xue Qin, their standards are quite high; it’s unlikely they’ll just pick anyone to fill in."
"But we can’t keep waiting indefinitely," Zhou Lan said. "Of course, unless we decide to push the film back by a year, then you would be available."
"Push back by a year?" Zhou Yun felt that was even more unrealistic.
The timing and duration of a film’s production is a complex endeavor.
Zhou Lan: "You should attend the meeting tomorrow morning, don’t say anything, don’t make any commitments. I’ll come over in the afternoon and talk to Shi Luoqi."
"Okay."
...
The meeting was small, only seven or eight people, with Zhou Yun being the only actor.
Seeing who was seated, Zhou Yun realised that in making decisions, she was the only actor the crew had to consider.
Whether they ultimately paused or when they resumed, other actors’ schedules were easier to coordinate; it was just troublesome on Zhou Yun’s part.
Zhou Yun felt a bit embarrassed at the moment. Although this emergency had nothing to do with her, she had become a complication when the crew needed to make decisions.
She knew she shouldn’t think this way.
Shi Luoqi looked like she hadn’t slept well the previous night. She wore a black jacket, her permed hair fluffy, with a bit of foundation and lipstick applied probably just to add some color, not very fine though. The winter sun shone through the window casting a white glow on everyone’s faces.
"An accident occurred in our crew yesterday, you all know. The good news is that Luo Zhiheng’s surgery went very well, the bad news is that he needs to recover in the hospital for an undefined period, and also, we haven’t found an actor for Meng Fanyan yet, so our film might need to pause shooting for a while."
