Hearing this, Jiang Yi was furious!
Xiao Bei was just a baby, yet Han Kai was despicable enough to harm a child.
Xiao Bei was his daughter!
If Han Kai dared to lay a finger on her, Jiang Yi would make sure he paid for it.
"I won’t let Han Kai get away with this!" Jiang Yi said coldly.
"Brother-in-law, you’ve got to find a way to stop Han Kai from marrying my sister!" Ye Xiaofeng pleaded. "If he marries her, Xiao Bei will be in danger sooner or later. She’s your daughter—you can’t just stand by and watch!"
Jiang Yi took a deep breath.
He would never let Han Kai off the hook.
He needed to figure out a way to deal with Han Kai—not for Ye Yanran’s sake, but for Xiao Bei.
"Brother-in-law, all of us have been fooled by Han Kai. Everyone knows what kind of scum he is—except my sister!" Ye Xiaofeng said.
"Your sister is smart. Han Kai isn’t capable of deceiving her," Jiang Yi replied.
"You don’t understand!"
Ye Xiaofeng shook his head. "My sister only cares about work. She ignores everything else. And Han Kai is a great actor—no matter how smart she is, she’ll still fall for his tricks."
Jiang Yi exhaled sharply.
"Brother-in-law, you *have* to stop this wedding. Otherwise, once Han Kai marries her, the first person he’ll target is Xiao Bei. Even if you don’t care about my sister, you can’t ignore Xiao Bei!"
Ye Xiaofeng looked desperate.
"You can’t just abandon Xiao Bei! My sister won’t listen to anyone else—you’re the only one who can stop this!"
Jiang Yi’s gaze fixed on Ye Xiaofeng, making him squirm.
"Brother-in-law, why are you looking at me like that? It’s creeping me out!" Ye Xiaofeng said nervously.
"Let me ask you—what’s your *real* motive for asking me to stop this marriage?" Jiang Yi demanded.
"What motive could I have?"
Ye Xiaofeng feigned innocence. "I just want what’s best for my sister. Han Kai is trash—how could I stand by and watch her throw herself into a pit of fire? Besides, Xiao Bei is my niece. I can’t let anything happen to her!"
"Tell me the truth!" Jiang Yi’s eyes narrowed.
"I *am* telling the truth! Why won’t you believe me?" Ye Xiaofeng protested.
"I know exactly what kind of person you are."
Jiang Yi smirked. "You never do anything without something in it for you. Did you really think I’d buy your act?"
Ye Xiaofeng’s expression stiffened.
He was caught.
"Spit it out. I don’t have time to waste. If you’re honest, I *might* consider stopping this wedding. If not, I’ll wash my hands of it."
"As for Xiao Bei—she’s my daughter. I won’t let her stay with Ye Yanran if she marries into the Han family. I’ll fight for custody."
Realizing he couldn’t fool Jiang Yi, Ye Xiaofeng finally caved.
"Fine. The Huang family’s young master likes my sister. He paid me to stop her from marrying Han Kai. If I succeed, he’ll give me a company afterward."
Jiang Yi scoffed. Just as he’d suspected.
To Ye Xiaofeng, it didn’t matter who Ye Yanran married—as long as he profited from it.
That was just how he operated.
"What’s the Huang family’s background?" Jiang Yi asked.
"The Huangs are the top business family in the capital—the most powerful and the richest."
Ye Xiaofeng explained, "The head of the Huang family’s eldest son is one of the vice presidents of the Capital Commerce Association. No one in the business world dares to cross them."
"Sounds like quite the influential family," Jiang Yi remarked dryly.
"Of course!"
Ye Xiaofeng nodded eagerly. "My mom’s been pushing for my sister to marry the Huang heir, but she won’t listen. She insists Han Kai is a better man and would rather marry him than the Huang young master."
Jiang Yi took a deep breath.
Ye Yanran was becoming more and more unpredictable.
He couldn’t fathom what she was thinking. If she really wanted to expand her influence, marrying into the Huang family would be the obvious choice—not Han Kai.
With the Huangs’ backing, she could dominate the business world effortlessly.
"You should stop calling me ‘brother-in-law.’ If people hear you, it’ll cause misunderstandings. Might even ruin your sister’s marriage plans," Jiang Yi said pointedly.
"Fine. I’ll just call you ‘Mr. Jiang’ from now on," Ye Xiaofeng conceded.
"Call me whatever you want."
Jiang Yi’s gaze sharpened. "I’ll deal with Han Kai, but on one condition. If you and your mother agree, everything will be settled."
"What condition?" Ye Xiaofeng asked warily.
"Give Xiao Bei back to me."
Jiang Yi’s voice was firm. "She’s my daughter. If Ye Yanran wants to remarry, she can’t take her with her."
"That’s… complicated."
Ye Xiaofeng grimaced. "I can’t make that decision. You know how my sister is—Xiao Bei is her life. If I take her away, my sister will skin me alive."
"You have one day. If I see my daughter within 24 hours, I’ll handle Han Kai—permanently."
Ye Xiaofeng looked torn.
He had no idea how to pull this off.
**"We accept your condition!"**
A voice suddenly rang out from outside the private room.
The door swung open, and Ye Yanran’s mother walked in.
Jiang Yi smirked. So, she’d been eavesdropping the whole time.
No wonder Ye Xiaofeng had hesitated—she was calling the shots.
"Mrs. Ye, have a seat."
Jiang Yi’s tone was polite, though he held no respect for her.
But for Xiao Bei’s sake, he’d play along—for now.
Without ceremony, Ye’s mother sat down, took a sip of tea, and then spoke.
"I assume you’re aware of Yanran’s situation?"
"Fully aware," Jiang Yi replied.
"Yanran is beautiful, capable—a true businesswoman. Plenty of wealthy heirs are interested in her. Proposals come daily!"
Ye’s mother preened. "You refused to reconcile with her before. Now you must regret it!"
Jiang Yi almost laughed.
*Still as shameless as ever.*
