Shen Lu saw Jiang Yi staring at the bracelet and said with a smile, "This is a gift from Auntie. She told me to take good care of it."
Jiang Yi forced a smile, remaining silent.
"By the way, Auntie said she really liked the meals you made. She asked me to go to the supermarket with you to buy some ingredients for her later," Shen Lu said.
Upon hearing this, Jiang Yi felt a sense of helplessness.
Buying groceries was something the servants could handle. By asking Shen Lu to go with Jiang Yi, Li Ping clearly intended to foster more interaction between them. Li Ping wanted to set them up, though she hadn't said it directly.
"Mr. Jiang, I can handle such a trivial matter as buying groceries!" Shen Lu said, standing up.
"I'll go with you!"
Jiang Yi followed. He had no interest in Shen Lu. The only reason he agreed to go grocery shopping with her was to please Li Ping. He knew how to play along.
Shen Lu was delighted that Jiang Yi was going with her.
After leaving the villa, Jiang Yi and Shen Lu headed straight to the supermarket. As soon as they reached the entrance, Jiang Yi sensed someone was following them. Shen Lu felt it too!
Jiang Yi and Shen Lu pretended not to notice anything, bought their groceries, and returned to the parking lot. Just as Jiang Yi was about to open the car door to leave, the door of a nearby car opened, and Manager Yang stepped out.
As Manager Yang was about to speak, his brow furrowed slightly upon seeing Shen Lu.
"Manager Yang, do you know Shen Lu?" Jiang Yi asked.
Hearing Jiang Yi's voice, Manager Yang snapped back to attention. "No! I just felt she looked familiar. Perhaps I was mistaken."
Jiang Yi suspected Manager Yang wasn't being truthful. "You should go back. I need to speak with Manager Yang," Jiang Yi said to Shen Lu.
"Okay!" Shen Lu replied and then left the parking lot.
After Shen Lu's departure, Jiang Yi's gaze settled on Manager Yang, and he said with a cold smile, "Manager Yang, you truly are a busy man! Instead of investigating Manager Du's matter, you personally came to tail me."
"I wasn't tailing you!" Manager Yang's expression grew serious. He said in a low voice, "I received word that Manager Du secretly ordered his men to kill you. I was worried about your safety, so I came to inform you personally! I've already dealt with the people who were following you; they were all Manager Du's men."
Jiang Yi was not surprised by this. Manager Du wanting to kill him was nothing unusual. Manager Du harbored a deep hatred for Jiang Yi and had long wished to eliminate him, but had never had the opportunity. Now, Manager Du believed his chance had arrived.
"Manager Yang, if there's nothing else, I'll be going now!" Jiang Yi said.
"I'm not here solely for this matter. There's something very important!" Manager Yang stated. "The boss is back. He knows everything that's happened recently and wants to see you. He's asked me to bring you to Wanhui Company."
"Why does he want to see me? I'm just a nobody," Jiang Yi said, frowning.
"You're no nobody! You are Manager Jiang." Manager Yang sneered. "Manager Du is a veteran of the company. With what has transpired, the boss naturally needs to investigate personally, and you know the entire sequence of events. Therefore, the boss wants to get the details from you."
Jiang Yi took a deep breath. He also wanted to meet Qiu Fang. That scoundrel Qiu Fang had ordered the killing of his family, which led to his father's death. Qiu Fang was now Jiang Yi's primary target.
"Don't dally. The boss is an impatient man. Let's go!" Manager Yang urged.
"Alright!" Jiang Yi nodded and then drove towards Wanhui Company.
Upon arriving at Wanhui Company, Manager Yang led Jiang Yi directly to Qiu Fang's office.
"Knock knock..." Manager Yang raised his hand and knocked on the office door.
"Enter..." a hoarse voice responded from within the office. Manager Yang pushed the door open and entered. Jiang Yi followed closely behind.
Inside the office, Jiang Yi looked up and saw a large, fat man sitting in a chair. He resembled a massive ball of flesh, yet his eyes were exceptionally sharp. This person was none other than Qiu Fang. Qiu Fang exuded an aura of inherent authority.
"Boss, Jiang Yi is here!" Manager Yang said respectfully to Qiu Fang.
"You may leave. No one is to enter this office without my permission," Qiu Fang instructed.
"Yes!" Manager Yang complied and exited the office.
After Manager Yang's departure, Qiu Fang's gaze swept over Jiang Yi. "How long have you been with the company?" Qiu Fang asked.
"Just over a month!" Jiang Yi replied.
"How much do you know about Manager Du's situation? Tell me everything you know. If you dare to omit or falsify even a single word, I will take your life right now," Qiu Fang continued.
"Yes!" Jiang Yi answered and began, "Ever since Young Master Qiu got involved with Hu Niang, Manager Du has been trying to eliminate Hu Niang. Just a day ago, Manager Du attempted to kill Hu Niang, but luckily she survived..."
"That's not what I want to hear!" Qiu Fang said coldly. "I only want to know if Manager Du has truly betrayed the company."
Jiang Yi feigned hesitation, and after a long pause, finally said, "Boss, I cannot be certain yet. I am still investigating. I have indeed uncovered some clues, and based on these clues, Manager Du has indeed betrayed the company!"
Hearing this, Qiu Fang's brow furrowed slightly. "Continue your investigation and report back to me immediately once you have the full picture!" Qiu Fang's piercing gaze fixed on Jiang Yi. "If you handle this well, you will be handsomely rewarded. But remember, don't play any tricks, or you should know what your fate will be."
"I understand!" Jiang Yi nodded.
"You may leave. Send Manager Yang in. Tell him I need to discuss something with him," Qiu Fang said.
"Yes!" Jiang Yi acknowledged and left the office.
If Jiang Yi had wanted to kill Qiu Fang for revenge earlier, it would have been as easy as flipping his hand. However, Jiang Yi did not do so. Killing Qiu Fang now would be pointless. Even if Qiu Fang died, another Qiu Fang would surely take his place. Jiang Yi's objective was not just to kill Qiu Fang, but to destroy Wanhui Company. He decided to exercise more patience.
"What did the boss say to you just now?" Manager Yang asked in the hallway.
"The boss asked me to continue investigating Manager Du!" Jiang Yi replied.
"Anything else?" Manager Yang pressed.
"The boss asked you to go to his office; he has something to discuss with you," Jiang Yi said.
