"The royal family has agreed to grant you the title of Viscount, and you can directly head to the capital to meet the King in a month. That's when you'll truly possess a noble title!" Menasha said.
Jiang Yi smiled faintly, realizing that his words to Menasha earlier had had an effect. It seemed he had to scare her a bit before she would help him secure a noble title.
"Only a Viscount? As far as I know, Viscount is the lowest of all noble ranks, with the fewest privileges," Jiang Yi asked Menasha.
Menasha's brows furrowed upon hearing this.
"Do you know how difficult it is to obtain a noble title? Many people never have the chance in their entire lives. To be granted a title is already a tremendous favor from the King. One shouldn't be too greedy, or they will surely fall sooner or later!" Menasha was quite displeased. She had gone to great lengths to help Jiang Yi obtain a title, only for him to complain that it was too low.
Jiang Yi shrugged.
"I hope to find the Guard Captain as soon as possible, otherwise, even if you go to the capital, you won't be qualified to have a noble title!"
Menasha looked at Jiang Yi. Jiang Yi understood that Menasha was asking him to trade the Guard Captain for the noble title. If he couldn't find the Guard Captain, the Eagle Kingdom's royal family could change their minds at any moment and not grant him the title.
"I cannot guarantee that I can find the Guard Captain. I can only promise to do my best!" Jiang Yi stated.
The Guard Captain was in Jiang Yi's hands, but Jiang Yi had no intention of handing the Guard Captain over to the royal family, nor to Prince Matthew.
"There's another matter. The one-eyed bodyguard has lost all his memories. Many famous doctors have been consulted, but none could help. You must find a way to restore the one-eyed bodyguard's memories soon," Menasha told Jiang Yi. "I still have many things for him to do. If his memory cannot be restored, many tasks cannot be completed!"
"No problem, but you must have him come to me himself!" Jiang Yi said calmly. "If he doesn't come to me, I can't help him recover his memory. I can't exactly beg him to recover his memory, can I? He's the one seeking my help, not the other way around!" Jiang Yi's earlier words at the door had annoyed him. In any case, it wasn't impossible for him to help the one-eyed bodyguard recover his memory, but the bodyguard needed to show a sincere attitude. Otherwise, he shouldn't even think about it.
Menasha's brows knitted together, and she remained silent.
"If you have nothing else, I'll be leaving now!" Jiang Yi said, standing up and walking straight out.
Menasha watched Jiang Yi's retreating back, saying nothing. Jiang Yi's attitude made Menasha feel somewhat displeased. She was, after all, an envoy. Everyone treated her with utmost respect, yet Jiang Yi never showed her any deference.
Stepping out onto the street, Jiang Yi drove directly back to the villa. He wanted to quickly uncover the secrets surrounding the Guard Captain. Upon returning to the castle, he went straight to a small courtyard in the back. Chen Kun was sitting on a stone bench in the courtyard, personally guarding the Guard Captain. Seeing Jiang Yi arrive, Chen Kun quickly stood up.
"Brother!" Chen Kun greeted him.
"En!" Jiang Yi responded, then walked directly into the room. Inside, the Guard Captain was sitting on the sofa, lost in thought.
"What do you want from me?" the Guard Captain asked Jiang Yi.
"What do I want from you? I just want to know all your secrets. If you tell me, I'll let you go right now!" Jiang Yi looked at the Guard Captain.
"You are not qualified to know my secrets. I will not tell you. If I were to reveal it, everyone who knows this secret must die, and I must die as well. Even my family would suffer a terrible fate!" the Guard Captain said in a deep voice.
"Rest assured, I will protect your family!" Jiang Yi replied. "And I will also protect your life, ensuring not a single hair on your head is harmed."
The Guard Captain burst into laughter upon hearing this, his laughter filled with mockery and disdain.
"Do you think I don't have the strength?" Jiang Yi asked.
"That's right!" the Guard Captain sneered. "You have no idea how significant this secret is. Once I reveal it, it will involve the entire royal family of the Eagle Kingdom. I'm not trying to scare you; this is the truth!"
Jiang Yi took a deep breath. Menasha clearly hadn't told him the whole truth. The secret of the Guard Captain wasn't about assassinating Prince Matthew, but something much bigger. Moreover, the assassination of Prince Matthew might not even be true. Jiang Yi intended to find out what was really going on.
"The envoy sent by the royal family, Menasha, told me that you failed to assassinate Prince Matthew, and that's why she asked me to rescue you by any means necessary. This must be false, right?" Jiang Yi asked.
"I don't know who Menasha is, and I never attempted to assassinate Prince Matthew!" the Guard Captain stated. "Since childhood, I've lived in seclusion in Simon State with my parents. My father thought he could ensure our family's safety and peace, but unexpectedly, a month ago, Prince Matthew's men broke into our home and captured us. Under severe torture, my father couldn't hold on and died! My only remaining family is my mother. For her, even if I die, I will never reveal that secret to anyone!" the Guard Captain said solemnly.
Hearing this, Jiang Yi's brows furrowed. Menasha truly hadn't spoken a single truthful word to him; everything she had told him was a lie. Fortunately, he hadn't believed her completely at the time, or he would have been made a fool of!
"Brother, Prince Matthew has sent people again, asking about the patient's condition!" Chen Kun entered and reported.
"En!" Jiang Yi nodded, preparing to leave.
"Wait!" the Guard Captain suddenly called out.
Jiang Yi stopped and looked back at the Guard Captain. "What do you want to say?"
"Are you that legendary divine physician from the Land of China?" The Guard Captain's expression finally changed.
"I am. Why? Do you know me?" Jiang Yi asked.
The Guard Captain studied Jiang Yi closely for a moment before replying, "I don't know you personally, but I've heard about you. You possess astonishing medical skills and can cure any illness. You are known as the foremost divine physician in the Land of China!"
Jiang Yi smiled faintly upon hearing this, amazed at how famous he had become.
"That's right, there's no illness I cannot cure. Even Prince Matthew's ailment, I can cure it!" Jiang Yi stated.
