The old man watched Mu Anxiao, who was gradually becoming transparent, release the hand holding the rope and said, "You must come back alive."
Mu Anxiao did not hear the old man's words. She only felt that her body had become lighter than usual. She slowly opened her eyes, not daring to look too much at the current-like light on both sides. She swallowed, and without daring to move, she advanced with the wind speed.
After an unknown period of time on this track, Mu Anxiao landed.
"Where is this place?" she stood on a patch of grass, looking at the scattered lights in the distance, and the green railings surrounding the open space nearby, feeling confused.
"You are Mu Anxiao, right?"
Hearing this, Mu Anxiao was startled. She turned and looked at the old man holding a strange object, asking, "Who are you?" she said, leaning forward to curiously examine the thing in his hand. "What treasure is this?"
"A flashlight," the old man said. He took two steps forward. "That old man told me. Come with me."
"You know me?" Mu Anxiao pointed to herself.
"I don't know you, but I know the old man who sent you here," the old man said, turning his back.
Mu Anxiao looked around the dark surroundings and raised two fingers, saying, "I..."
"You'd better not use your powers. The humans here are much smarter than the humans where you come from. If you use even a little bit of unnecessary magic, you'll be recorded by some hidden camera. Then, if you're sent for research, I won't save you." The old man said, turning to look at a surveillance camera hanging by a tree, flashing red. He snapped his fingers, deleting the record of Mu Anxiao's arrival.
Mu Anxiao did not understand what the old man was saying, but an inner voice warned her to be cautious.
In the monitoring room... a young man walked into the monitoring room with a bowl of instant noodles. He bent down to look at the old man holding the flashlight on the screen and chuckled, "Boss, you have a granddaughter? Her attire is quite ancient." As he spoke, he placed the noodles on the table.
"What's up?" asked the second young man, waking up from a nap on the table, lazily.
"Nothing. Girls nowadays love wearing ancient clothes. When will," the first young man said, picking up a fork and stirring the bowl, "we get you a set to wear as well."
"Forget it. I don't have that hobby." Saying this, the second young man slumped back down to sleep.
In the blink of an eye, Mu Anxiao followed the old man to the outside of the monitoring room.
"Open the door," the old man said in a stern voice.
Mu Anxiao peeked at the door that seemed to be made of iron and asked, "What place is this?"
"Don't speak," the old man gave Mu Anxiao a look.
Mu Anxiao blinked and remained silent.
The next second, the first young man opened the door.
"Boss, you're back," he said with a smile, moving aside.
Mu Anxiao cautiously glanced at the first young man with a playful smile, then stepped forward to follow the old man into the room with the strange boxes, swallowing.
"From today onwards, you two will share a dormitory. Make a room available," the old man said, with his hands behind his back, looking at the second young man who had stood up.
The second young man felt indignant. "When you recruited me, you said it would be one person per dormitory. This arrangement seems unreasonable, doesn't it?"
Mu Anxiao disliked the feeling of being dependent on others, so she said, "No need. I have other things to do."
However, the old man completely ignored Mu Anxiao and said coldly, "If you don't want to do this, then leave."
