Chapter 45 Feinting East, Striking West

"No," the Yin Messenger shook his head.

"Why?" Mu Anxiao frowned.

"Because this is my choice," the Yin Messenger said, looking up at the darkening sky. "They've arrived."

"Who has arrived?" Mu Anxiao asked, also looking up at the darkening sky.

Then, a scream echoed from a nearby alley. Mu Anxiao's nerves tensed as she asked, "What's going on?"

"Let's go take a look," the Yin Messenger pointed towards the alley and walked ahead of Mu Anxiao.

Mu Anxiao, unable to suppress her fear, stared at the Yin Messenger for a few seconds before looking down and thinking, "If I don't go with him, maybe I can live a little longer, but if I don't go..."

"You'll die sooner," the Yin Messenger interrupted, stopping in front of Mu Anxiao.

Mu Anxiao looked up and, startled, quickly retreated a few steps. "Why are you back?"

"I just went to check the situation over there. You can go now."

"What's the situation over there?"

"The Ginkgo Tree Demon is heavily wounded, and the woman with the immortal connection is hiding in a corner, crying," the Yin Messenger spread his hands. "That's the situation."

"Where is Shen Yan?" Mu Anxiao asked urgently.

"He was tricked by the Vine Demon's diversion. He's probably fighting a wisp of smoke right now," the Yin Messenger pointed upwards.

The moment Mu Anxiao followed the Yin Messenger's gaze upwards, she shouted, "Stop fighting, that's fake, it's fake!"

The Yin Messenger lowered his hand and looked up at Shen Yan, who was fighting the wisp of smoke with spells, holding a weapon. "Don't worry, he can't hear you."

"Then what should we do?" Mu Anxiao anxiously followed Shen Yan, who was flying left and right in the sky.

The Yin Messenger crossed his arms and observed Mu Anxiao's anxious expression. "May I ask, are you worried about his safety, or your own?"

Mu Anxiao paused for a moment, then lowered her head to think. She looked at the Yin Messenger and said, "If Shen Yan dies, my money will be gone. But if I die, I won't get anything either. So, it's both, but," she glanced sideways, raising one finger, "my life comes first."

The second Mu Anxiao finished speaking, another scream from the narcissistic girl came from the alley.

"Ahhh..."

Hearing the piercing sound, Mu Anxiao became flustered. "What should I do?"

"You go. I'll go find him up there," the Yin Messenger pointed upwards.

"I can defeat..."

Before he finished speaking, the Yin Messenger disappeared in a cloud of black smoke.

Mu Anxiao pouted, her eyes welling up but holding back tears as she turned towards the alley. She took a deep breath and said, "If I don't go, and that narcissistic girl dies, I'll definitely see her soul. Wouldn't it be more painful to be haunted by her then? Forget it, I'll just have to bite the bullet and try to reason with that Vine Demon." She wrinkled her nose and said, "I hope he understands human language." With that, she ran rapidly towards the alley.

At this moment, the Yin Messenger flew into the mist and appeared before Shen Yan. "Something has happened below."

"Yin Messenger?" Shen Yan looked at him in surprise, holding his weapon.

Seeing Shen Yan's astonished expression, the Yin Messenger smiled. "It's our first meeting, please be gentle with me." He extended his hand.

Shen Yan looked down at the Yin Messenger's outstretched hand and asked, "What do you mean something has happened below?"

The Yin Messenger awkwardly retracted his hand, which Shen Yan had clearly ignored, and returned to the point. "This is the Vine Demon's diversionary tactic."
