Chapter 21 Blaming Oneself

“Brother, what’s wrong with you?” the young fellow peeked and asked Mu Anxiao.

Mu Anxiao came back to her senses, looked at the young fellow, and shook her head, “Nothing, I’ll go take a look ahead.” As she spoke, she had only taken a few steps when she was blocked by the aunt’s family.

“What are you doing?” a burly man in mourning clothes asked.

Mu Anxiao paid no mind to the burly man’s attitude towards her, but instead looked up at the courtyard gate where she had stopped yesterday. Following this, the way the aunt had pointed out the path to her yesterday flashed in her mind, and her expression froze.

“This is no place for you, brat.” The burly man shoved Mu Anxiao’s shoulder forcefully.

Unexpectedly, Mu Anxiao lost her footing, stumbled, and fell to the ground.

“This is no place for you, brat.” The burly man pointed at Mu Anxiao and roared.

Mu Anxiao stared at the courtyard gate without any reaction, her mind constantly replaying every expression of the aunt from yesterday, and she began to blame herself.

Seeing Mu Anxiao’s lack of reaction, the burly man was about to step forward and shout again when another woman in mourning clothes stepped forward, grabbed his arm, and yelled, “What are you doing? It was a monster that killed our mother, not this young fellow. Look at how scared you’ve made him.” With that, she pulled the burly man aside, bent down, and asked Mu Anxiao gently, “Young fellow, are you alright?”

Mu Anxiao came back to her senses, looked up at the woman who resembled the aunt, and shook her head, “I’m fine, I’m fine.” As she spoke, she flipped over, got up, and ran away.

The woman stood up, watched Mu Anxiao’s hurried figure disappear, then turned and said, “Look how scared you made him.”

The burly man glared in the direction Mu Anxiao had run, turned around, and continued to cry loudly.

Following this, the woman walked forward to comfort him, patting his shoulder and saying, “It’s good to cry it out.”

“Mother.” The burly man cried out loudly.

At the same time, the burly man’s cry was exactly what reached Mu Anxiao, who had rushed out of the crowd. She then stopped her escape, bent over, and took a few deep breaths. Just as she was about to turn around, a man in a black cloak suddenly appeared before her.

“Come with me.”

Hearing this eerie voice, Mu Anxiao couldn’t help but tremble, then took two steps back and let out a strange, dry laugh.

“What are you laughing at?” the man’s voice was very cold.

Mu Anxiao swallowed and said, “I’m afraid of you.” As she spoke, she was about to step back when the man’s icy hand grabbed her arm.

“Come with me.” After the man said this coldly, Mu Anxiao was taken away before she could even scream.

In the blink of an eye, Mu Anxiao was thrown aside by the man and fell to the ground.

“Hand it over.” The man stood in front of Mu Anxiao, his hand outstretched, and said inexplicably.

Mu Anxiao looked up at the man in the cloak, his face covered by a hood, and asked with a trembling voice, “What do you want me to hand over?” She pursed her lips.

“Look at that cowardly look on your face.” The man said, then stepped forward and crouched in front of Mu Anxiao, “The booklet that woman gave you.”

“I don’t understand what you’re talking about?” Mu Anxiao turned her face away, deciding to ignore him.

But the man did not give up. He reached out and grabbed the single arm Mu Anxiao had placed in front of her, saying, “If you don’t hand it over, I’ll use magic to turn you into an old woman.”

Immediately, Mu Anxiao took out the booklet from her怀 without a word and handed it to the man.
