“I am willing to accept the punishment,” the demon said readily.
The second spirit looked at Mu Anxiao. “Hand it over.”
Mu Anxiao took out the small jade bottle from her pocket and handed it to the second spirit. “Here.”
“The boss has already told us, you need to hurry and catch that wolf demon,” the first spirit said while tying the demon’s hands with a silver rope.
Mu Anxiao nodded and pointed at the demon. “Did he not tell the human his identity?”
The first spirit said, “He cannot enter human life, but he not only entered, he revealed his true form for the human to see, and even scared the human. Naturally, he broke the rules.”
“So that’s how it is,” Mu Anxiao nodded and pointed at the still unconscious man. “Will he still remember this demon when he wakes up?”
“No, he will only think he had a nightmare,” the first spirit said, then pulled the rope and disappeared with the second spirit.
Mu Anxiao sighed and turned to walk to the man’s side, squatting down and nudging his arm. “Wake up, wake up.”
After a long period of persistent calls, the man finally regained consciousness.
Mu Anxiao sat on the ground without any aversion to the dirt and stared at the man’s moving fingers, letting out a sigh of relief. “This guy is finally reacting.”
“I…” The man opened his eyes, looked up at the sky, and mumbled, “Where am I?”
“Oh, you fainted, but your life is not in danger,” Mu Anxiao said, pushing herself up by her hands.
The man sat up and touched the back of his head, looking around. “Did you save me?”
“It’s remote here, and I saw you were in danger alone, so I wanted to wake you up. But you didn’t wake up for a long time, so I just stayed to guard you. Otherwise, if something happened to you, it wouldn’t be good,” Mu Anxiao said casually.
“Little girl, thank you,” the man said, looking up at Mu Anxiao and grinning.
“You’re welcome,” Mu Anxiao shook her head.
Then, the man stood up, brushed the sand off his body, and smiled. “Little girl, did you see a monster just now?”
Mu Anxiao’s nerves tensed. “How can there be monsters in this world? Did you have a nightmare?”
The man looked around, then laughed. “I’ve been watching too many ghost movies lately, I’ve gone a bit crazy. Don’t laugh, little girl.”
“Why would I laugh?” Mu Anxiao said coldly.
The man continued to laugh. “I’m a teacher. Little girl, you don’t look very old, do you? Which school are you from?”
Mu Anxiao didn’t want to answer questions she didn’t understand. She said, “Now that you’re alright, I’m relieved. Goodbye forever.” After saying that, she walked past the man and left.
The man watched Mu Anxiao’s receding figure with a relieved expression and smiled. “This little girl is truly a good person.” As he spoke, he bent down and brushed the sand off his body again.
Mu Anxiao walked back, thinking about the wolf demon’s appearance. She sighed, “It seems that fellow has stolen quite a lot of things from the underworld. I must catch him quickly.” Thinking this, she stopped in the middle of the road.
Then, the shrill sound of car horns echoed through the entire road.
Mu Anxiao turned her head and looked indifferently at the woman honking in the car, then turned and walked towards the opposite side.
In the small car, the woman honking looked at Mu Anxiao’s back with displeasure and said, “That girl, I don’t know what she’s thinking. Luckily, she met me, otherwise, people would scold her.”
