Chapter 202 The Toilet-Sweeping Duty

Zhang Yan swallowed his throat and said, "Forget it, I'll arrange it for you." He handed the slip of paper back to Mu Anxiao.

Mu Anxiao took the paper and put it in her pocket without looking at it. "I'm only doing this to repay you. Once I've paid you back, I'll leave."

"I understand," Zhang Yan said after thinking for a moment. "Go back and wait, I'll arrange something for you later."

Mu Anxiao said "Okay," pulled the door open, glanced at Fan Yan outside, and walked towards her own room.

Fan Yan looked at Zhang Yan with a playful grin and said, "Boss, I have some unfortunate news for you."

"What is it?" Zhang Yan asked, stopping by the door.

"Well, the cleaning lady you sent to that key middle school is sick and can't work for the next month. The school has officially notified you to help find a temporary replacement, and they'll pay whatever salary you deem appropriate."

"I know," Zhang Yan nodded.

Then, Fan Yan's eyes darted around curiously as he asked, "Boss, according to logic, the school staff isn't under your jurisdiction. Why are you helping them?"

"I'm friends with someone on the inside, so naturally, I'll help with some things," Zhang Yan said, seeing Fan Yan's confused expression. He took a step back and added, "You wouldn't understand." With that, he closed the door.

Fan Yan pouted and turned to walk away.

Mu Anxiao returned to her room and sat on the bed. She opened her palm and began to cast a spell to summon the local Yin messengers.

However, instead of Yin messengers, she summoned a soul.

"What are you doing?"

"I'm not looking for you, why are you here?" Mu Anxiao asked, looking down at the child soul.

The child soul said righteously, "My boss is busy, so he sent me to cover for him."

"Never mind, I'll find him later then." Mu Anxiao did not trust the child soul.

The child soul saw Mu Anxiao's distrust and made a face at her before disappearing.

Then, Mu Anxiao let out a sigh and lay down on the bed.

Not long after, there was a knock on her door.

"Come in."

Outside, Zhang Yan pushed the door open and entered, saying, "I've found a job for you."

Mu Anxiao propped her head with one hand, still lying on the bed, with no intention of getting up. "Tell me."

Zhang Yan walked to the bedside and looked down at Mu Anxiao. "Can you sit up and talk to me? It's very impolite like this." Hearing Zhang Yan's words, Mu Anxiao sat up. "Go ahead," she said, looking up at Zhang Yan.

Zhang Yan hesitated for a moment and said, "You should go work at the school at Fengqi."

"I don't even know a single character, how can I go there? Besides, I can't stay long. Once I collect their memories and earn enough to repay you, I'll be leaving."

"You're just a temporary replacement, not a permanent one."

"For how long?" Mu Anxiao asked.

Zhang Yan held up one finger. "One month."

"One month, won't that be... too long?"

"Your master said the star chart operates once a month, so you can only leave next month."

Mu Anxiao hesitated for a moment and then said, "Alright, but first you have to tell me what I'll be doing."

"It's very simple, cleaning."

"What do you mean?" Mu Anxiao had a sense of foreboding.

"It means going to help them clean the toilets, and other similar tasks." Zhang Yan wasn't entirely clear about the school's situation, so he explained it to Mu Anxiao based on his own understanding.

"Toilets, as in outhouses?" Mu Anxiao asked, interpreting it according to her own understanding.
