Chapter 1083 On the Road (5)

Listening to Mu Anxiao’s indifferent words, Feng Qishi was momentarily speechless.

Mu Anxiao, still clinging tightly to Feng Qishi’s arm, asked, “Why aren’t you talking to me?”

“You’re talking, so you protect me,” Feng Qishi said, turning his gaze forward once more.

For her own safety, Mu Anxiao fell silent.

A moment later, Feng Qishi asked, “Do you feel them?”

“Ten of them, and they have no relation to the previous group.”

“You take four, I’ll take six.”

“Why don’t you just fight them all?” Mu Anxiao asked softly, tilting her head up to look at Feng Qishi.

Feng Qishi replied, “You can, but later, when I’m eating delicacies, you just watch.”

Mu Anxiao furrowed her brow. “Didn’t you say there’s no cooked food here?”

“Just because I can’t conjure it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.”

“Is there really?”

“Walk for another half an hour, and we’ll be there.”

Upon hearing about food, Mu Anxiao cast aside her timidity, straightened up, released her grip, and walked to Feng Qishi’s side. “Remember your promise to me.”

“When did I owe you anything?”

“You said you’d protect me, and now I’m protecting you. Ten of them, I’ll handle.”

Feng Qishi’s mouth twitched. “You’re just doing it for the food, aren’t you?”

“Think whatever you like, but this time, it counts as me protecting you,” Mu Anxiao said, extending her hand to conjure the silver rope.

Seeing this, Feng Qishi remarked, “I think you should conjure your soul sword. That would be more intimidating.”

“No.”

“What kind of thinking is that?”

“My thinking is just that advanced,” Mu Anxiao said, taking two steps forward and flicking the silver rope towards a nearby tree.

Immediately, two monsters of different colors fell from the tree.

Feng Qishi took a step back.

“You two really know how to hide,” Mu Anxiao said, walking up to the monsters and looking down at them. “Your colors are different.”

The two monsters struggled to sit up and looked up at Mu Anxiao. The red monster said, “You can actually find us.”

The black monster added, “You must have been a blind cat catching a dead mouse.”

Mu Anxiao, with a darkened expression, looked at the two who dared to insult her intelligence. “What color are leaves?”

The red monster replied, “Of course, they’re red.”

The black monster exclaimed, “They’re clearly black!”

“Red.”

“Black.”

Mu Anxiao listened to their nonsensical argument and suddenly realized these two fellows were colorblind!

Feng Qishi looked at the two monsters, whose intelligence seemed on par with Mu Anxiao’s, with a helpless expression. “Hey, Mu moron, how long are you going to listen to them talk?”

Hearing this, Mu Anxiao glared at Feng Qishi before turning back to the two still bickering. “Leaves are clearly green.”

Both monsters immediately fell silent, then looked up at Mu Anxiao with expressions of disgust. In unison, they declared, “Leaves are clearly red and black.”

“Red and black, then I’d like to see what color your inner cores are,” Mu Anxiao said, stepping back a few paces and flicking the silver rope towards them.

Instantly, the two monsters, who had been arguing seconds ago, became inner cores.

“As expected, they were red and black,” Mu Anxiao muttered, stepping forward to pick up the two inner cores and put them into her money pouch.

Feng Qishi advised, “I suggest you don’t waste your breath talking to those monsters.”

“You don’t need to tell me,” Mu Anxiao replied, flicking the silver rope towards another tree.

This time, two more monsters fell, one orange and one pink.

They, too, were colorblind.

“Why don’t you ask us the color of the leaves?” the orange monster inquired.

“I don’t want to,” Mu Anxiao said, and flicked the silver rope again.

Thus, she effortlessly obtained four inner cores.

“The next ones won’t be easy.”

“I know,” Mu Anxiao said, looking up at the dense foliage. She retracted the silver rope, spread her arms, and flew directly into the tree.

Feng Qishi was truly baffled by Mu Anxiao’s actions.

The next second.

Mu Anxiao, standing on a tree branch, turned her head to look at the green-faced monster. “Hello.”

The green-faced monster’s massive mouth immediately opened.

Seeing this, Mu Anxiao conjured the silver rope with one hand and slapped the monster hard across the face with the other.

In a flash, Mu Anxiao bound the monster with the silver rope, then conjured a dagger and plunged it into the monster’s body. A green light flashed, and Mu Anxiao caught the green inner core, then jumped down.

Feng Qishi’s lips curled into a smile. “Not bad!”

Mu Anxiao walked gracefully towards Feng Qishi, placing the inner core in her pouch as she said, “The other five, you take them.”

“Didn’t you say you’d handle them all?”

“I’m tired,” Mu Anxiao said, stretching her limbs.

Feng Qishi shook his head helplessly, bypassed Mu Anxiao, and prepared for the next round.

A quarter of an hour later.

Mu Anxiao sat under a tree, with her legs crossed, smiling at Feng Qishi, who was soaked. “There’s a ditch ahead with five monsters in it. You caught them.”

Mu Anxiao had already sensed the foul ditch earlier.

Due to her aversion to dirt, she had decided to entrust the arduous task to Feng Qishi.

At first, she thought Feng Qishi would flinch and retreat.

But to her surprise, he had gone all out.

“Do you want them?” Feng Qishi asked, grooming his hair as he squatted down and presented the five inner cores to Mu Anxiao.

Mu Anxiao pinched her nose and said, “No.”

“You’re quite cunning.”

“It’s okay, another half an hour’s walk, and you can take a bath.”

Feng Qishi glared at Mu Anxiao.

Half an hour later.

Mu Anxiao and Feng Qishi entered the eerie demonic city, exuding an aura of demonic energy.

“You lied to me.” She tightly gripped Feng Qishi’s arm, looking at the sinister-looking men and women around her. Swallowing hard, she said, “Why are the demons here different from those at Shen Xian’s place?”

“How are they different?”

“Those ones had a bit of sunlight, but these ones are all Yin. Especially the atmosphere, it’s so oppressive!” Mu Anxiao shivered.

Feng Qishi stopped and turned to look at Mu Anxiao, who had been complaining about him the whole way. “Uh, I have stench water from the ditch on me. Aren’t you bothered by holding me like this?”

At that moment, Mu Anxiao was filled with fear. She had no time to think about anything else. Even if Feng Qishi was covered in filth, she would still hold onto him.

Because, life was paramount!

“Stop your nonsense. You should be grateful I don’t find you repulsive,” Mu Anxiao said, continuing to scan her surroundings.

Feng Qishi smiled helplessly and continued leading Mu Anxiao forward.
