Chapter 803 The Matter of Rivals

"Kill me?" Mu Anxiao pointed to herself and chuckled dryly, "I didn't expect you to be such a creature without ambition."

"What do you mean by that?" the wolf demon asked.

Hearing the wolf demon's words, Mu Anxiao pondered for a moment and asked, "What's the difference between me and you?"

"You are above, I am a demon." the wolf demon said faintly.

"Anything else?" Mu Anxiao smiled.

"And..." the wolf demon hesitated, looking troubled.

Mu Anxiao glanced at the wolf demon's troubled expression, then looked around. "Such an obvious difference, and you can't see it?"

"Remind me," the wolf demon said blankly.

"Remind..." Mu Anxiao repeated the word, then forced a dry laugh, "Brother, are you truly foolish, or are you pretending? Do I really need to remind you of this?"

"Remind me," the wolf demon smiled.

"Uh, it's already so obvious, and you still need me to remind you that you're foolish?" Mu Anxiao asked helplessly.

The wolf demon frowned.

Mu Anxiao looked at the wolf demon's stunned face and said, "I am a female, and you are a male. If you were to kill me, and this got out, do you think you'd still have any dignity left?"

"What's the big deal? I'm giving you respect. Besides, in the present world, gender equality is emphasized. Treating you as my competitor is a sign of respect," the wolf demon said earnestly.

Mu Anxiao was speechless at the wolf demon's words.

"Alright, once we get out, I'll find you a master," the wolf demon said lightly.

"Before you find me a master, I think we should investigate the matter of that village. Otherwise, something feels off," Mu Anxiao said.

The wolf demon took a deep breath. "Mu Anxiao, how did I not realize you were so meddlesome before?"

"I wouldn't have bothered if I hadn't known about it, but hearing you talk about it, I feel their actions were too excessive. And, I..." She stopped mid-sentence and hastily asked, "Right, have you seen those three people from the village?"

"I only saw three people lying on the ground, and before I could get a closer look, I was dragged away," the wolf demon confessed honestly.

"So, you don't know if those three people are dead?" Mu Anxiao asked excitedly.

"They should be dead; they were covered in blood," the wolf demon replied seriously.

Mu Anxiao frowned slightly. "I'm asking you, did you kill anyone?"

Upon hearing this, the wolf demon looked helpless. "I already told you I didn't kill anyone."

"That's exactly it," Mu Anxiao raised an eyebrow.

"What's 'exactly it'?" the wolf demon questioned.

"They can frame an innocent person, so they can also find living people to impersonate the dead," Mu Anxiao spread her hands. "Tell me if I'm right."

"What you're saying makes sense, but why would they do that?" the wolf demon was confused.

"I don't know either, but that's also something I want to investigate further," Mu Anxiao said.

"But I don't want to," the wolf demon shook his head.

Mu Anxiao had expected her words to pique the wolf demon's curiosity. Hearing his reply, her expression stiffened. "You really don't want to know what they're planning?"

"No, but..." the wolf demon's eyes darted. "I heard that before they caught me, they had also captured a few people, but they all escaped."

"So, this is a plan of theirs," Mu Anxiao exclaimed excitedly.

"Who knows? I'm not curious anyway," the wolf demon shrugged.

"If you're not curious, why are you giving me all these clues? Are you trying to annoy me?" Mu Anxiao glared at the wolf demon.

"Alright, I won't say anything more." The wolf demon got up, walked to the cell door, and then said, "Seventh, you think about it carefully. When you've decided, tell me what kind of master you want, and I'll help you."

"I won't learn demon arts."

"But I don't know any immortals either," the wolf demon turned and looked at Mu Anxiao.

"Are you really going to find a demon to be my master?" Mu Anxiao asked, looking at the wolf demon.

The wolf demon smiled. "If it's possible, I have a particularly good plan. Do you want to hear it?"

"Go ahead," Mu Anxiao tilted her chin up.

"I'll be your master," the wolf demon pointed at himself.

Mu Anxiao was stunned. "If you become my master, and I end up killing you, wouldn't that be a great act of rebellion?"

"It's fine. Before I teach you demon arts, I'll write something down. If I die afterward, it won't count against you," the wolf demon took Mu Anxiao's words seriously.

Mu Anxiao let out a dry laugh. "Heh, forget it. Following you, I'd be in constant fear. I'm afraid my heart couldn't take it."

"Then I'll go and take a look for you," the wolf demon said.

"I don't have any demonic energy on me, so I definitely can't become a demon. Therefore, you can only find an immortal for me," Mu Anxiao said earnestly.

"Then I'll try," the wolf demon said.

"Whatever you say," Mu Anxiao said nonchalantly, as she knew the wolf demon wouldn't succeed.

"I'm leaving," the wolf demon said, turning halfway and disappearing.

Mu Anxiao sighed.

A few minutes later...

Mu Anxiao leaned against the wall and looked at the female jailer who stood at the cell door, smiling at her. "What are you here for?"

"Do you need anything?" the female jailer asked with a smile.

"No," Mu Anxiao shook her head.

The female jailer pursed her lips, opened the cell door, and walked gracefully in front of Mu Anxiao, lowering her head. "Are you thirsty?"

"When did you get here?" Mu Anxiao asked.

"Just now," the female jailer replied honestly.

"Didn't you hear..." Mu Anxiao narrowed her eyes. "Me talking to myself?"

"No," the female jailer shook her head.

"Oh, then you can go," Mu Anxiao said coldly.

"Do you really not need anything else?" the female jailer asked.

"No."

"You don't need anything?" the female jailer looked disappointed.

Mu Anxiao tilted her head, looking at the female jailer thoughtfully. "Do you have something you want to ask me?"

"Mmhmm," the female jailer replied casually, then quickly shook her head. "Oh, it's nothing, nothing."

"Come on, tell me what you want to ask me," Mu Anxiao said.

Then, the female jailer's eyes flickered, and she squatted in front of Mu Anxiao. "I want to ask... was that yellow talisman just now really fake?"

"What's wrong?" Mu Anxiao asked.

The female jailer blinked her eyes. "If it was fake, I won't let that woman off the hook."

"Did you come just to tell me this?" Mu Anxiao asked.

"Yes," the female jailer nodded honestly.

"The yellow talisman is real, but," Mu Anxiao's lips twisted, "it was stolen by that woman. Of course, I don't know where she stole it from."

"The cultivation sect?" the female jailer guessed.

"If I told you that everything in the cultivation sect was stolen by those people, what would you do?" Mu Anxiao asked seriously.

"What you're saying is true," the female jailer believed her.
