The woman let out a relieved sigh as the wolf demon prepared to cast its spell.
The other villagers turned their gazes towards the wolf demon.
However, just as the wolf demon was about to cast its spell, a voice came from not far away.
"Wolf demon, it is indeed you."
Hearing the voice, the wolf demon lowered its hand and swiftly turned in the direction of the sound.
Immediately, despair appeared on the faces of the villagers one by one.
The wolf demon glanced at the dusty area ahead, then looked back at the villagers hanging from the trees behind it. "It seems I won't need to exert myself." With that, it stood still, not moving at all.
In the next moment, Hei Feng walked through the dust and stopped before the wolf demon.
The villagers looked at Hei Feng, and then their faces showed even greater despair.
Villager Number Four: "We're finished, its accomplice is here."
"Yes, we are finished."
At the same time, the simpleton woke up. "Daddy."
Upon hearing this, the uncle turned to the simpleton. "Don't be afraid, Daddy is here."
"Daddy, B-brother."
"Don't be scared, Daddy is here, your brother hasn't returned yet."
Hearing this, the simpleton looked up and began to cry.
At the sound, the wolf demon turned to look behind, shouting, "Why are you crying?" It glanced at the women hanging from another tree and continued, "The women aren't crying."
"This is my son, he's a bit slow," the uncle explained.
The wolf demon glanced at the uncle, then at Hei Feng. "Can I get that simpleton down first?"
"You don't need to." Hei Feng said, his tone extremely unfriendly. He stepped forward, brushing past the wolf demon, and with a wave of his hand, the ropes binding the villagers instantly snapped. He then swiftly slowed their descent.
The wolf demon watched Hei Feng's meticulous casting, saying, "They think you're a monster, but you treat them like treasures. I truly don't know if you're genuine or just foolish."
"What about us?" the elder called out, looking up at Hei Feng.
Hearing this, the wolf demon glanced at the elder. "Aren't I still here?" As it spoke, it cast its demonic arts on the elders, and their ropes came undone.
A few minutes later...
Under Hei Feng's organized direction, the villagers, carrying their tools, ran back towards the village.
The wolf demon stood in place, watching Hei Feng's retreating back with a helpless expression. "Feeling satisfied, aren't you?"
Hearing this, Hei Feng turned to look at the wolf demon. "I heard Mu An Xiao."
"Oh, really?" the wolf demon asked nonchalantly.
Hei Feng stepped closer to the wolf demon. "Go back and tell Mu An Xiao to stop interfering. These village matters are not so easily resolved."
"Just now, I was about to let them go," the wolf demon suddenly said.
Hei Feng's lips curled. "I'd believe a sow climbing a tree before I believe you've reformed."
The wolf demon let out a soft hum. "I never said I've reformed. Speaking of which," it touched its face, "I've changed so much, yet you can still find me."
"Do you know what you smell like?" Hei Feng asked.
The wolf demon frowned. "Demonic energy."
"The scent of wolf pelt, I can smell it the moment I encounter it," Hei Feng stated seriously.
"Are you implying I'm a sheep in wolf's clothing?" the wolf demon chuckled.
Hei Feng frowned. "I don't understand what you're saying, but remember this: you are not to touch those people. Go back and tell Mu An Xiao to back down."
"Why should I back down? I was almost successful just now," the wolf demon said earnestly.
"Bullying the weak is your definition of success," Hei Feng retorted.
The wolf demon chuckled. "It's a good thing I wasn't going to kill them."
"If you dare, I'll capture you right now," Hei Feng roared.
"You have a prejudice against me, don't you?" the wolf demon frowned, looking at the somewhat schizophrenic Hei Feng.
Hei Feng narrowed his eyes. "If it weren't for you, things wouldn't have become so complicated."
"As it turns out, I've already received my retribution," the wolf demon lowered its head and looked at its own body.
"Go find Mu An Xiao," Hei Feng said faintly.
"Again, you're being nice," the wolf demon's lips curled.
Hei Feng took a deep breath, forcing himself to remain calm. "I'm letting you go purely to stop Mu An Xiao. If it weren't for Mu An Xiao's involvement, I would have captured you right now."
"Then I should thank Mu An Xiao."
"Go," Hei Feng exhaled the word.
The wolf demon hesitated for a moment, then shook its head. "I can't go. I was just about to ask their purpose, and it's all because of you that they left."
"Oh, you're blaming me now?" Hei Feng exclaimed in surprise.
"Of course, I blame you. If it weren't for you, I would have found out. Now, look," the wolf demon sighed, "all my efforts have been in vain."
"You..."
"Mu An Xiao has a bad temper. To be honest," the wolf demon smiled, "I didn't want to come here at first. Do you know how badly they beat me?"
"You were beaten by them?" Hei Feng asked with skepticism.
"Let me show you." The wolf demon rolled up its sleeve, revealing its not-yet-healed wounds.
Hei Feng looked at the wolf demon's wronged expression, then lowered his gaze to its arm and was stunned. "You were actually beaten by them."
"There are more, but," the wolf demon tugged at its collar, "it's inconvenient for me to show you."
"Why did they beat you?" Hei Feng asked.
"Didn't Mu An Xiao tell you?" the wolf demon countered.
"Even if they did, I didn't remember. However," Hei Feng continued, "what I'm thinking about now is whether Mu An Xiao will be safe here."
"How is it unsafe?" the wolf demon asked.
Hei Feng glanced around and said, "The Vine Demon released the two hundred and fifty demon souls captured by Mu An Xiao. One of those demon souls is related to this village. That demon soul's demonic energy is already in the vicinity. Mu An Xiao coming here will certainly not be safe."
"I don't think Mu An Xiao would be afraid," the wolf demon said calmly.
"You and Mu An Xiao both have quite large hearts," Hei Feng said helplessly.
"Let's not talk about Mu An Xiao," the wolf demon said, leaning in to sniff Hei Feng's scent. It stood up. "Strange, weren't you a Yin Messenger before? How did you become a soul spirit now?"
Hearing this, Hei Feng quickly took half a step back. "What are you sniffing around for?"
"You've been demoted," the wolf demon pointed at Hei Feng, smiling.
Hei Feng's expression turned cold. "That's none of your business."
"It's not because of me, is it?" the wolf demon pointed at itself with an exaggerated expression.
"Can you stop being so narcissistic?" Hei Feng narrowed his eyes.
"Oh, it's not me then." The wolf demon breathed a sigh of relief.
"If it were because of you, do you think you'd still be able to stand here and talk to me so calmly?" Hei Feng stared coldly at the wolf demon.
The wolf demon smiled. "That's true."
"Stop with the 'that's true.' You need to go find Mu An Xiao immediately," Hei Feng said seriously.
"If I go, will it be useful?" the wolf demon asked.
