Chapter 697 Sense of Crisis

"You're the silly one," Mu Anxiao muttered softly.

Piao said, "If you keep muttering, I'll kill Yan." Piao suddenly declared.

Yan's eyes widened.

Mu Anxiao looked at Piao with a helpless expression and said, "You're really quite boring. First, you threaten me with my own life, then you threaten me with someone else's. Aren't you tired?"

"No," Piao said indifferently.

Mu Anxiao was momentarily speechless and replied, "Indeed, you are a demon lord, so you naturally wouldn't feel tired."

"You're about to become the demon lord's wife," Piao added.

Upon hearing this, Mu Anxiao pouted. "Alas, speaking of which, I'm quite miserable. Just thinking about my future life makes me suffer."

"What do you mean by that?" Piao asked coldly.

"It means," Mu Anxiao said, masking her inner fear and smiling at Piao, "that I'll definitely have a hard time with someone as emotional as you."

"It's alright, this is also a form of mental training," Piao said, patting Mu Anxiao's shoulder.

"I don't see it as training; I see it as torment for my soul," Mu Anxiao blurted out the truth, unable to hold back.

Piao looked at Mu Anxiao's unrestrained behavior and said, "You really are pushing your luck." With that, his expression turned cold.

Seeing this, Mu Anxiao quickly smiled. "I was wrong."

Piao ignored her and shifted his gaze to Yan's face. "If you persuade the rat demons to cooperate with me, I will release them."

"Me?" Yan pointed at herself, thinking about how the rat demons viewed her and becoming worried.

Mu Anxiao glanced at Yan and said, "Speaking of which, I see you getting along quite well with the rabbit spirits. Why do you dislike them now?"

"I've already told you," Piao shot Mu Anxiao a sidelong glance.

"A sense of crisis," Mu Anxiao snapped her fingers.

"Yes," Piao nodded.

"Then why did you help them in the first place?" Yan asked.

Piao looked at Yan and said, "Back then, the rabbit leader told me that she wanted revenge and was in a hurry. She said she was willing to be my subordinate and wait for me..." He glanced at Mu Anxiao, "...for her, but who knew they would lie to me."

"Lie to you?" Mu Anxiao's mouth twitched. "I think they were more afraid of you."

"I just remembered," Piao turned his head and fixed his gaze on Mu Anxiao's face. "I gave them a portrait of you and told them to find you using the portrait. Who knew they, they actually lost it."

"Who told you that?" Mu Anxiao asked.

"The red-clothed rabbit from just now," Piao replied.

"She would tell you that?" Mu Anxiao was surprised again.

Piao remained silent.

Mu Anxiao thought for a moment and asked again, "Then, do you kill her?"

"It depends on my mood. What I want to deal with most right now is their Rabbit Queen. However, I heard she recently made contact with a demon. This demon, I've never heard of it," Piao said seriously.

"Recently? When was that?" Mu Anxiao was curious.

"Today," Piao replied.

Upon hearing this, Mu Anxiao laughed. "Then it's not recent."

"In my eyes, it's all the same," Piao said.

"Alright, alright, do as you please," Mu Anxiao said, then paused and asked, "Then how did you find out?"

"When I parted ways with you earlier, I went to her room. She was acting strange at the time, and I happened to see something behind the screen. Then I sensed it – demonic energy," Piao told Mu Anxiao everything he had seen very earnestly.

"Was the demonic energy strong?" Mu Anxiao asked again.

Piao thought for a moment and replied, "Not strong, very faint."

"Very faint," Mu Anxiao repeated, recalling the rabbit queen's drastic change in attitude towards her in her room earlier. She said, "It's the vine spirit."

"Vine spirit?" Piao repeated.

"You don't know him, that guy has a grudge against me," Mu Anxiao explained.

"Is he very powerful?" Piao asked.

"If you talk about powerful," Mu Anxiao frowned, "it's better to say he's cunning."

"What does cunning mean?" Piao asked.

Mu Anxiao glanced at Piao and said, "It means he's very sly."

Upon hearing this, Piao nodded and asked, "When you went to her room earlier, was there anything unusual about her?"

"Her attitude towards me was not good," Mu Anxiao said, her expression becoming unnatural. "Um, can I express my own feelings?"

Piao stared into Mu Anxiao's eyes and said, "Go ahead, I'm listening."

Mu Anxiao swallowed and said, "I feel like she's not afraid of you anymore because she was a bit disrespectful to me. Of course, this is just my personal opinion, you can take it as a reference and don't take it too seriously."

The moment Mu Anxiao finished speaking, Piao lowered his head and fell into thought.

Mu Anxiao let out a sigh and looked at Yan, who was looking at her, frowning.

Yan did not avert her gaze.

Mu Anxiao blinked and asked, "Do you have something to say?"

Yan replied, "No, I'm wondering if the rat demons will listen to me."

"I think they will," Mu Anxiao nodded.

"How do you know?" Yan asked.

Immediately after, Mu Anxiao looked at Piao and cautiously asked, "Um, me and Yan talking doesn't affect your thinking, does it?"

Piao did not respond.

Mu Anxiao stared at Piao for a few seconds, then pouted and looked back at Yan, saying, "I just know."

"Alright," Yan nodded slightly.

Mu Anxiao smiled faintly and said, "Speaking of which, Piao, I think you're not normal."

At this, Piao turned his head to look at Mu Anxiao. "What do you mean by that?"

"You, one moment you want to see Yan and I kill each other, and the next you say you'll spare the rat demons. You change your mind too quickly. To put it bluntly, I really suspect you'll change your attitude again in the next second," Mu Anxiao said what she was thinking.

Piao's face turned cold. "Many things are subject to change. Can you guarantee that you can do everything you plan?"

"Can I say you're making excuses for your own mental instability?" Mu Anxiao asked, her mouth twitching.

Piao said, "I advise you to shut up."

Mu Anxiao pursed her lips. "Alright, I'll shut up."

Then, Piao withdrew his gaze and continued to ponder.

Mu Anxiao glanced at Piao, then picked up a pastry from the plate on the table and took a bite, before putting it back down.

"What are you doing?" Piao asked, staring at the pastry Mu Anxiao had put down.

Mu Anxiao licked her lips and said, "It's unappetizing, I don't want to eat it anymore."

"Then you shouldn't put it back!" Piao exclaimed.

Mu Anxiao twisted her lips and reached for the pastry she had taken a bite of, placing it back on the table.

Piao glanced at the pastry that Mu Anxiao had placed back on the table and said, "Eat it."

Mu Anxiao shook her head. "I won't eat it; it's very unappetizing."

"It's not good for you to waste food like this," Piao said.
