The rabbit spirit pulled its mouth away, tilted its head up to look at Mu Anxiao, its eyes glowing red, and said, “It’s not tasty at all.”
Hearing this, Mu Anxiao let out a sigh of relief and asked with her head down, “Have you been outside before?”
The rabbit spirit shook its head, “I have never been to the human world.”
“Then I know,” Mu Anxiao suddenly put on a serious demeanor.
“Know what?” the rabbit spirit asked.
“I know why you can’t transform into human form,” Mu Anxiao said softly.
“What did you say?” the rabbit spirit asked impatiently, tilting its head up.
“Nothing,” Mu Anxiao’s gaze flickered away.
Seeing Mu Anxiao’s awkward expression, the rabbit spirit said, “Squat down, I can’t hear you clearly.”
“I won’t,” Mu Anxiao refused, shaking her head.
“Hurry up,” the rabbit spirit said, and bit Mu Anxiao’s shoe again.
Mu Anxiao lowered her head and said, “Look, you bit me again. If I squat down and you eat me, who will I cry to? I won’t squat.” Saying this, she turned her face away.
This time, the rabbit spirit heard Mu Anxiao’s voice clearly and said, “Squat down, and I’ll talk to you properly. I won’t eat you, your meat isn’t tasty.”
“I can hear your voice clearly, but you can’t hear mine. Clearly,” Mu Anxiao frowned, “this is a trap you’ve set for me.”
“Hurry up,” the rabbit spirit said angrily.
Listening to the rabbit spirit’s voice, Mu Anxiao’s scalp tingled, and she pretended to be foolish, “What is it?”
“Tell me, why can’t I transform into human form?” the rabbit spirit asked patiently.
Mu Anxiao looked down at the rabbit spirit’s eyes and said, “If you take back the red light in your eyes, I’ll squat down.”
“My eyes are always like this,” the rabbit spirit said.
Mu Anxiao’s lips twisted, “Your eyes are full of killing intent, do you think I’m stupid?”
“My eyes are always like this, and besides,” the rabbit spirit said helplessly, “I’ve tasted your meat, and it’s not tasty at all. Carrots and greens are the most delicious.”
“You really won’t eat me,” Mu Anxiao confirmed again.
The rabbit spirit nodded.
Mu Anxiao glanced around with lingering fear, forgetting her dirty hands, she touched the back of her head, then squatted down and said, “I’ve said it.”
“You say it,” the rabbit spirit looked at Mu Anxiao without killing intent, speaking seriously.
Mu Anxiao hesitated for a moment and said, “I’ll take you to the human world for a bit. You can absorb some human energy, and I guess,” she smirked, “it will be twice the result with half the effort.”
“What if they see me and eat me?” the rabbit spirit asked softly.
“Don’t you know sorcery? If someone tries to harm you, just cast a spell,” Mu Anxiao raised an eyebrow, “and it will be resolved.”
“I’ve never harmed mortals, this…”
“No, they probably can’t see you, right?” Mu Anxiao interrupted.
The rabbit spirit said, “The times have changed. Unless my cultivation is particularly deep, they won’t see me. Now,” a trace of fear flashed in her eyes, “they can see me.”
“What’s wrong?” Mu Anxiao asked, seeing that the rabbit spirit was not right.
“I’ve been cultivating for fifty years. Fifty years ago, I was raised in a cultivation sect. I escaped during that incident, and I haven’t left this place since,” the rabbit spirit said in a low voice.
“Didn’t you say you haven’t been to the human world?” Mu Anxiao asked, rolling her eyes. “You were lying to me all along?”
“The cultivation sect doesn’t count as the human world,” the rabbit spirit said firmly.
“Doesn’t count…” Mu Anxiao stopped speaking, then suddenly thought that since this rabbit spirit was so small, its perspective was naturally limited. Therefore, the world in its eyes must be different from the world in her own eyes.
“Why aren’t you talking?” the rabbit spirit asked.
Mu Anxiao reached out and stroked the rabbit spirit’s ear, saying, “Let me take you out to see the vast world.”
“I…”
“Stop with the ‘I’. Use your sorcery to help me,” Mu Anxiao said, pointing upwards.
“This is just where I cultivate. I usually come in through the rabbit hole. You, given your size,” the rabbit spirit looked at Mu Anxiao’s physique and chuckled dryly, “it might be a bit difficult.”
“You don’t mean…” Mu Anxiao’s mouth twitched, and she pointed upwards, “you want me to climb up myself?”
“Yes,” the rabbit spirit nodded, then suddenly remembered how Mu Anxiao had fallen, and asked, “By the way, not many people come to this forest. How did you end up here?”
“Oh, I offended…” Mu Anxiao thought for a moment, not knowing where to start, and said, “I offended some dog-headed monsters. They were chasing me, and then I fell. They’re probably still up there.”
“Then what should we do?” the rabbit spirit asked.
Immediately after, Mu Anxiao deliberately glanced at the rabbit spirit, then looked up and wailed, pretending to cry, “Wuwuwu, what should I do? If I go up, they’ll take me away. Then, how can I help you? Oh, this is a big problem, wuwu, look what happened. Even if they’re not there, as soon as I go up, they’ll smell me, and they’ll definitely…” Halfway through her fake crying, Mu Anxiao realized there was no sound from above, so she gave two dry sobs and asked, “That’s strange, why is there no noise from above?”
“They left,” the rabbit spirit said simply.
“Left,” Mu Anxiao repeated, looking up and smiling, “They have too little perseverance. As soon as I fell, they left.”
“You ran, they flew. Moreover, this is a blind spot, so naturally, they couldn’t find us,” the rabbit spirit said faintly.
“That’s not right,” Mu Anxiao said, slumping into the mud without sitting properly, “They’re all dogs. Even if I fell, they’d just smell and find me.”
“During my cultivation, I ate a lot of magical herbs. Some of these herbs have the effect of masking scents, so naturally, those dog demons couldn’t find you.”
“No, it should be they can’t find you,” Mu Anxiao pointed at the rabbit spirit.
“There is my excrement in this mud, so naturally, they can’t smell me,” the rabbit spirit said calmly.
Upon hearing that she was sitting in excrement, Mu Anxiao’s face instantly turned unpleasant. “You mean, you relieved yourself here.” Saying this, she quickly stood up, her eyes full of disgust for the rabbit spirit.
“It doesn’t stink,” the rabbit spirit said, looking up.
“It doesn’t stink? That’s your excrement, of course you don’t feel it,” Mu Anxiao said, looking down at her mud-covered hands. Thinking about the composition of the mud, she suddenly felt disgusted.
“Don’t be disgusted. You’ll have to take this out with you later to be safe,” the rabbit spirit said, not knowing how to comfort her.
“I’m going to take a bath later,” Mu Anxiao said excitedly, her hands unsure where to rest.
