Chapter 2357 Calling to Account

"What sound was that?" Xiao Yi’s voice trembled as he tucked his neck in slightly.

The wolf demon glanced upwards, then at Xiao Yi. "It's probably the barrier breaking. Someone will be here soon. Whatever you do, don't mention the demon sword," he instructed.

"Why?" the vine spirit asked, a step ahead of Xiao Yi.

The wolf demon flicked his gaze towards the vine spirit. "What if it brings death upon us?"

"You have a point," the vine spirit and Xiao Yi said in unison.

Just then, the wolf demon nodded and let out a breath. As he was about to go to the courtyard gate to investigate, Ouyang Ye entered with Juan Er, the afro-haired Song Xi, and Xi'er. Upon seeing them, the vine spirit quickly bowed slightly along with Xiao Yi.

In contrast, the wolf demon remained calmly watching Ouyang Ye and his group, feigning ignorance as he asked, "Why are you all here?"

Hearing this, Juan Er stepped past Ouyang Ye and approached the wolf demon. "Who set up the barrier?"

Xiao Yi and the vine spirit were startled by Juan Er's words but maintained their composure.

"Barrier..." the wolf demon repeated, playing dumb. "What barrier are you talking about?"

"You're faking it," Juan Er said, her eyes wide.

The wolf demon looked genuinely perplexed. "I truly don't know what you're referring to."

"Don't know," Juan Er said, glaring at the wolf demon’s face. After a few seconds of silence, she asked, "Alright, tell me then, what were you just doing?" She looked towards the vine spirit and Xiao Yi.

Subsequently, as they felt Juan Er's gaze, Xiao Yi and the vine spirit simultaneously lifted their heads.

"Studying biology," the wolf demon deliberately said something Juan Er wouldn't understand.

Hearing this, the vine spirit quickly explained, "He means, looking at the vegetables." He gestured towards the vegetables in the garden.

Juan Er listened to the vine spirit, looked down at the garden, and sneered, "You all seem to live quite a leisurely life." She then turned to Xiao Yi and said, "Xiao Yi, tell me, who set up this barrier?"

"What barrier?" Xiao Yi echoed the wolf demon, also playing dumb.

"You don't know?" Juan Er asked.

"No, I've been in my room the whole time." Xiao Yi shifted sideways and pointed towards the small room next to the kitchen.

Juan Er followed Xiao Yi's gaze towards the small room and sneered, "It seems Mu Anxiao treats you well." With that, she turned to Xi'er, who was supporting Song Xi, and smirked, "Xi'er, you said you saw a flash of lightning, and a figure appeared within it, didn't you?"

The wolf demon heard this, his expression unchanged.

"Yes," Xi'er nodded, deciding not to correct her.

Juan Er then sneered again and shifted her gaze back to the wolf demon. "I believe Xiao Yi knows nothing, but..." she glanced at the vine spirit, "You two claiming to know nothing, I don't believe that." "Believe it or not, we just don't know. What barrier are you talking about?" the wolf demon said coldly.

Juan Er lowered her eyes and smiled. "Fine, fine, if you won't admit it, then don't. Anyway, it's not you we're looking for." She cast a sidelong glance at the wolf demon and the vine spirit, then turned to Xiao Yi. "Xiao Yi, where is Mu Anxiao?"

"Mu..." Xiao Yi hesitated, looking cautiously at Ouyang Ye, who stood behind Juan Er.

Seeing this, Juan Er's face fell. "Xiao Yi, where are you looking?" Her tone instantly became sharp.

Hearing this, Xiao Yi was startled and quickly withdrew his gaze, turning back to Juan Er. He said, "Mistress, shouldn't the master be asking that?" His eyes were very cautious.

Juan Er saw this and remembered the instructions she had given Xiao Yi. She immediately 'understood' Xiao Yi's meaning and said, "Yes, Xiao Yi, your reminder is quite correct." After saying this, she finally turned to look at Ouyang Ye.

Ouyang Ye looked indifferently at Juan Er, who had been talking for a while. "Juan Er," he said faintly, "I thought you had forgotten about me."

"Ye, I was just anxious," Juan Er replied, returning to Ouyang Ye's side.

Xi'er glanced cautiously at Juan Er and lowered her head.

Next, Ouyang Ye looked at the three of them. "Tell me, where is Mu Anxiao?" He knew that no matter how much he asked, he wouldn't get any useful information from them. Rather than wasting more time, it was better to get straight to the point.

"Sleeping," the wolf demon said flatly. He still feared Ouyang Ye from the bottom of his heart.

"Sleeping? In broad daylight, why would she be sleeping?" Ouyang Ye asked, his gaze directly falling on the large room where Mu Anxiao was.

"Perhaps she felt sleepy," the wolf demon said faintly, cautiously watching Ouyang Ye's gaze towards Mu Anxiao's room and letting out a deep breath.

"She's truly something else," Ouyang Ye remarked, then walked towards Mu Anxiao's room.

The wolf demon dared not stop Ouyang Ye and could only stand there dejectedly, watching Ouyang Ye... fall silent.

Juan Er smirked, preparing to watch the show.

Just then, Song Xi took the opportunity to apologize to Xi'er. "Wife, I'm sorry."

Hearing this, Xi'er's body stiffened, and she immediately looked up at Song Xi, who had suddenly apologized. "I told you not to move, why did you move? Fortunately, the master arrived. If not..." She trailed off, noticing Juan Er's gaze. She then glanced at Juan Er and continued, "Fortunately, the Mistress and Master arrived, otherwise, your life would truly have been in danger." She patted Song Xi's arm.

Juan Er laughed. "Flirting in broad daylight, isn't that inappropriate?"

Xi'er felt embarrassed, but to avoid making Juan Er uncomfortable, she still smiled at her. "Mistress, thank you. If it weren't for you, my husband would truly have lost his life."

Song Xi smiled sheepishly.

Juan Er flicked a strand of hair from her face and said, "Don't worry, if he dies, I'll immediately find you another suitable husband."

"You jest," Xi'er said, lightly hitting Song Xi, who was about to get angry, and smiling again. "Mistress, why don't you sit down and rest for a bit?"

"No need. Ye is still standing, how could I dare to sit?" Juan Er said. She glanced back towards Mu Anxiao's room and frowned. "Why hasn't Ye gone in yet?" As she was about to step forward, Ouyang Ye suddenly turned towards them.

Seeing this, they were all stunned.

Subsequently, Ouyang Ye descended the steps and walked towards them. "All of you, leave," he said.

"Ye..."

"Yes, we're leaving," the wolf demon interjected, intending to interrupt Juan Er, and turned, pulling the vine spirit towards the courtyard gate.

Xiao Yi dared not speak and followed the wolf demon and the vine spirit.

Similarly, Xi'er and Song Xi also left.

At this point, only Juan Er remained. "Ye, are you afraid you'll disturb Mu Anxiao's rest?" she asked.

Ouyang Ye said coldly, "Juan Er, I hope you can understand what I'm saying. Otherwise," his gaze was indifferent, "don't blame me for making a scene here and causing you trouble."

"You..." Juan Er knew Ouyang Ye would do as he said, so she had no choice but to compromise. "Yes, I'm leaving." With that, she turned around and left.
