Chapter 1218: A strange noble (2)
At first Lin Fan wasn’t really that interested in what he was saying since there wasn’t much that was interesting about it.
What he talked about was just stuff about magic items.
It was clear that he was an otaku that was obsessed with magic items.
Though instead of calling him an otaku, it would have been better to call him a researcher since he used quite a few technical words as he shared what he was so excited about with us.
It was just that the magic items that he talked about weren’t that special.
Since arriving on the magic continent, Lin Fan had already seen quite a few magic items since he had spent quite a bit of time in the Laver Empire.
Though the magic items that Lin Fan saw weren’t actually shown to him.
These were magic items that Haku took out to show Rokuko, magic items that she used to impress her. Even now, most of those magic items had even been given to Rokuko since they weren’t that special in the first place.
It just went to show how much Haku really pampered Rokuko.
This was even more so after Rokuko had been introduced as the princess of the Laver Empire.
Since she accepted being Haku’s sister, it was as if some kind of barrier had been lifted between the two of them and Haku seemed to stop holding back.
It wasn’t as if this was a bad thing since there were quite a few items that were given to Rokuko as a result. These items weren’t that cheap either since Haku didn’t hold back at all when she pampered her.
As such, it wasn’t as if the magic items that he was showing them were that rare.
It was only when he reached the end of introducing these magic items that he finally moved onto quite the interesting topic.
"If we combine these two magic items, they have this kind of effect." The noble said as he brought two of the magic items that he showed us together.
Once they were brought together like this, it seemed as if there was some kind of force that was holding them together. When he moved these two pieces, it was as if they were a single piece with this force holding them.
With the way that these two pieces came together, it seemed like they resembled something familiar.
"Is that an arm?" Rokuko couldn’t help asking all of a sudden.
The moment that the noble heard this, his eyes immediately lit up and he stepped forward as if he wanted to grab her hand. It was just that Rokuko reacted faster than he did and ducked behind Lin Fan once more.
Even if Rokuko hadn’t reacted, Lin Fan would have stopped him before he could get too close to her. Even he felt that this strange noble had taken it a bit too far when he suddenly approached her like this.
Seeing Rokuko evading him like this, the strange noble said, "Sorry, I got a bit too excited."
Lin Fan and Rokuko both just gave simple nods to acknowledge this, but they didn’t let their guards down as they waited to see what the strange noble would do.
The strange noble knew that he had made a mistake, so all he could do was make up for it by continuing with his demonstration. He even took a step back as a gesture of goodwill to show that he didn’t mean any harm.
After taking this step back, the strange noble picked up several more of the magic items that he had placed on the table earlier and combined them all together with the pieces that he combined previously.
As more and more of these magic items were being combined together, the combined piece started to take form.
Once the combined piece started to take form, both Lin Fan and Rokuko showed more and more interest.
Lin Fan was more interested in this than Rokuko since he had more knowledge about this, but Rokuko did seem interested in the finished piece since she had seen something similar before.
She had seen this thing in the video games and animes that she had bought from the Dungeon Master store.
But for Lin Fan who grew up in a world where this kind of thing was normal, he was naturally more excited.
Though when he thought about it, he remembered that there was a technologically advanced continent in this world as well. Perhaps that continent would have something that would be more like the things that resembled this combined magic tool from his world.
Regardless, this was quite the exciting thing to see.
Once he was done combining all of the magic items, the strange noble didn’t say anything as he started waving his hand
As he waved his hand, the combined magic item started to move in front of them.
Though this thing didn’t seem to have any weapons or such. The only thing that this thing could really do was move around on the table in front of them.
In the end, it didn’t last that long.
"Klunk."
The combined magic item suddenly fell down on the table while it was moving.
The strange noble gave a sigh when he saw this before saying, "As expected, the left side just isn’t able to hold up when it performs complicated movements. The joints rub against each other and break down in the end..."
Lin Fan just ignored him as he looked at the magic item that had fallen over.
After a while, he asked, "Have you ever thought about making a larger version of this? For example, one that is as big as a person?"
The strange noble was caught off guard by this question, but he gave a helpless sigh as he said, "Of course I’ve thought about this, but it just costs too much money to do something like this. Not to mention that it would take a lot of mana to move it. It’s definitely not something that can be done by a normal person."
It was clear that he had indeed put a lot of thought into it, but Lin Fan wasn’t discouraged.
"A talent. This person is a real talent." Lin Fan thought to himself after hearing this as a smile crept onto his face.
"Would you be willing to accept an investment from me?"
The strange noble was once again caught off guard by this sudden suggestion from Lin Fan. After all, this certainly wasn’t how he had expected things to go after deciding to introduce his magic items.
He thought that this would just be his chance to show off his hobby to people that seemed interested, but it turned out that it was more than that.
Seeing that he was hesitating, Lin Fan added, "If you think that it won’t be enough, I can guarantee that you won’t be disappointed by the amount that I’ll offer. It’ll definitely be more than enough to support you building this full rob...I mean this full set of magic items."
The strange noble had a doubtful look on his face, but it was a lie to say that there wasn’t a part of him that wasn’t moved. After all, this was the first time that someone had shown interest in his research.
In the end, he said, "Even if you give me all that money, I can’t guarantee that it’ll work. After all, this is something that requires a lot of mana just to move since it’s so heavy. It isn’t as if we can solve that issue with money."
Lin Fan gave a nod of acknowledgement even if he didn’t know the specifics of this since he had no idea how the magic item robot actually worked.
But he did have his own ideas.
"Then can you make the inside of the magic item hollow?"
"Hollow?" The strange noble asked in a confused voice as if he didn’t understand what Lin Fan was saying, but there was a look of understanding that slowly appeared on his face before he said, "Even if you lower the weight of the thing, it isn’t as if it would reduce the amount of mana required by that much."
Lin Fan gave another nod before saying, "It’s not just reducing the weight, it’s also increasing the space for storage. For example, wouldn’t you be able to add several cores that would be able to provide mana by using magic stones? At the same time, you could also have someone inside of the magic item to provide mana and guide it."
The strange noble knitted his brows in thought as if he was thinking about it before he finally gave a nod and said, "A suit of armour, that could work. It would require a few high level items to make, but then it would just take a few magic crystals to move. After all, it’s made of individual magic items that can all take a core to power it. If that’s the case, then I can even add more weapons and other stuff into it."
Lin Fan couldn’t help shaking his head with a faint smile when he heard this.
He had only been planning on making a magic suit of armour, but now it seemed like this strange noble was even planning on making the suit of a certain superhero with these magic items.
But it wasn’t as if Lin Fan was planning on stopping him.
Helping this genius along would certainly be good for him.
If possible, he hoped that he would be able to have an entire giant robot made of magic items one day.
