Chapter 1210: Hidden fragments
The Mist Lord was completely trapped in the ball of flames that Haku created, but it didn’t seem like the mist that came from the Mist Lord was going away.
It seemed like there was still something at the very center of the Mist Lands that was still releasing the mist that covered the Mist Lands.
It was as Haku said, there was still something else that was there.
After all, it wasn’t as if a Mist Lord of this level would actually be able to do anything like this.
Unless there was something that helped the Mist Lord gain everything that it currently had.
As they came closer, Lin Fan could feel the same pressure coming from the core of the Mist Lands even though the Mist Lord was already in their hands.
"You, you dare approach my lair? Don’t you know what will happen if you approach my lair?" The Mist Lord tried to make a threat, but it just wasn’t effective at all since Haku and the rest just ignored it.
No matter how the Mist Lord tried to threaten them, Haku and the others just completely ignored it.
Though when they felt the pressure coming from the center of the Mist Lands, they did stop for a bit.
After a moment of silence, Haku said, "It feels familiar."
Lin Fan revealed a faint smile when he heard this.
Of course it would feel familiar since they had felt something similar before coming from the one that created all the dungeon cores. After all, his system had already told him that this was the presence of someone that was trying to become a god.
But if it didn’t come from the Mist Lord, what did it come from?
After a momentary pause, Haku led the way forward.
While she was moving, she made sure to put the trapped Mist Lord in front of them.
As they went deeper Haku made sure to pay attention to the reactions of the Mist Lord.
After all, this Mist Lord really didn’t know how to keep its mouth shut.
That was why Haku was using it as some kind of compass.
With the Mist Lord leading the way, it was easy to tell if they were going in the right direction or not. After all, the Mist Lord kept threatening them while they were heading in deeper.
When they were going in the right direction, it seemed that the Mist Lord panicked more and threatened them more.
When they were going in the wrong direction, it seemed like the Mist Lord calmed down a bit and didn’t speak as much.
Even though the Mist Lord should have already realized that this was what Haku was doing, it didn’t seem like it was able to stop itself. It was almost as if it had no self control at all.
Almost as if it was some kind of child...
"This thing was trying to become a god?" Everyone couldn’t help thinking to themselves when they saw the way that the Mist Lord acted.
It was clear that the Mist Lord wasn’t the true mastermind behind all of this, but something that was being used by the true mastermind. The one that wanted to turn the Mist Lord into a god was most likely using the Mist Lord for something else.
But what were they using the Mist Lord for?
After a while, the Mist Lord seemed to fall silent.
It wasn’t that they were no longer going in the right direction, it was that the Mist Lord seemed a bit afraid to speak.
It seemed that even though the Mist Lord was the one that was being turned into a god.
But what would make the Mist Lord this afraid?
Even though Haku had completely overwhelmed it, it still wasn’t afraid of Haku. Even though Haku trapped it inside of a cage like this, the Mist Lord had never stopped trying to threaten them.
So that showed that it at least didn’t fear Haku even though it wasn’t a match for this group.
What would be hidden here that would make the Mist Lord this afraid?
It had to be something special or it wouldn’t have this kind of reaction.
Haku even seemed a bit excited when she saw this as a faint smile appeared on her face.
Lin Fan didn’t say anything since he figured that it was a good sign that Haku didn’t fear whatever was in front of them. However, that didn’t mean that the pressure suddenly disappeared even if Haku didn’t fear it.
Now that they came closer, Lin Fan could feel the pressure coming from them even more than before. He could tell that whatever this thing was, it certainly was much more powerful than this Mist Lord.
At the same time, Lin Fan could tell that there was the familiar feeling that came from it.
The thing that was here felt more like a god than this Mist Lord did.
Once they arrived at the center of the Mist Lands, they found that there wasn’t much here.
There was only a single altar which also seemed to be the home of the Mist Lord with how there were some blankets scattered like a makeshift bed on it.
However, the moment that Lin Fan saw the altar, he couldn’t help narrowing his eyes.
"Is this the one?" Haku asked when she saw the look on his face.
Lin Fan didn’t answer right away as he continued looking at the altar for a while, but eventually he gave a nod in response to this question.
This altar that he was looking at was just like the altars that he had seen in the mist people villages.
However, the feeling that he got from this altar was different from the rest of those altars.
The feeling that he got from this altar showed that this was the main altar that seemed to connect the rest of them.
That meant that the faith power that came from those different altars were all gathered in this place for the Mist Lord to absorb.
Only Lin Fan could feel that there was still plenty of faith power that was here that the Mist Lord didn’t absorb.
Was it because the Mist Lord couldn’t absorb it, or was it because of something else.
Before anyone could do anything, there was a voice that suddenly said, "What do you think you’re doing to my son?"
The moment that this voice rang out, everyone immediately raised their guards since they could feel the power that was contained in this voice. They knew that whoever this voice belonged to, they were the one that was the mastermind behind the Mist Lord.
However, there was something strange about what they said...
"Son?"
That was the one word that stood out.
Looking at the Mist Lord, it seemed that he was scared of the owner of this voice. However, one could see that this wasn’t a normal kind of fear that the Mist Lord felt towards the owner of this voice.
With the way that he acted, it seemed like the fear that a child had towards their mother.
Then the mastermind behind the Mist Lord really was the parent of the Mist Lord?
"It turned out that he’s the second generation Mist Lord, that’s why it felt like he was a bit weak." Haku suddenly said in a voice that seemed like she had figured it out.
When she said this, the rest of the group slowly started to understand what was happening.
The Mist Lands had existed for a long time after all, it didn’t seem likely that this current Mist Lord was the one that had created all of this.
The only thing that could explain how the system in the Mist Lands was created was that there was another generation of Mist Lord and that Mist Lord...most likely succeeded in becoming a god through the same method that the current Mist Lord was using.
"Release my son and I’ll spare you all." The voice from the altar said in a cold tone.
However, Haku didn’t feel any fear towards the owner of this voice.
Instead, she just revealed a faint smile before saying, "Why should I do what a fragment of a god tells me? It’s clear that you’re no longer in our world, so what can you actually do to me?"
"You!" The voice from the altar filled with rage before saying, "Do you really think that you can do anything against the power of a true god?"
"If you could do something, then you would have already done it. After all, there’s no need for a god to actually hesitate when it comes to dealing with mortals. The fact that you haven’t done anything so far shows that you can’t actually do anything. So what are you planning to do now that we have your child as a hostage?"
When she said this, there was even a tone of provocation that was in her voice as if she was daring the real Mist Lord to do something.
"Do you really think that I can’t do anything at all?"
Right after this voice fell, the mist around them started to move as if it was gathering.
It seemed that the real Mist Lord was capable of doing something since it was the one that was actually generating the mist that filled these Mist Lands.
However, Haku still didn’t panic.
The only thing that she did was take out a stone that she held in her hands for a while as if she was debating on whether to use it or not.
