Chapter 106: 106
"Hey, let’s go". Trevor whispered, and helped him back inside the car after Gale walked away.
He drove out of the property while the men watched them leave with their weapons still aimed at them.
"Tristan?" He called after a few minutes.
"Yeah?" Tristan looked at him with eyes filled to the brim with tears.
Trevor frowned slightly to see it, he cussed Gale in his mind at his harsh words.
"He is not dead. Don’t listen to the words of that moron. He is probably there but not dead." He tried to calm him down with reassuring words.
"If he is truly dead, it won’t be concealed. The country would probably have sprang into war".
He continued and looked back at him but he was barely listening to him.
Coincidentally he knew the Oak tree pack, and he was glad for that.
"Where are we going?" Tristan asked after a while. There were no longer tears in his eyes. He had comforted himself with the knowledge that he would not believe he was truly dead until he saw his body with his eyes.
"The Oak tree pack". He replied without taking his eyes off the road.
"Huh?
Do you know how to get there?" Tristan asked.
"Yeah, I have been there before". He replied and they both fell into silence as they sped towards the pack.
They hadn’t driven for an hour when a familiar car passed them on the road.
Tristan pecked up on his seat and looked at the familiar plate number.
"What is it?
Do you recognise the car?" Trevor asked as he also looked in the rearview mirror but the car had disappeared out of sight.
"Can we follow it?". Tristan said suddenly and tapped him.
"You want me to follow him?" Trevor was surprised and immediately swiveled the car.
"Hold on tight". He alerted and they gave the car a hot chase.
It took them about twenty minutes to catch up and they had gotten distracted by their chase to notice their surroundings.
The car slowed down suddenly and drove into the parking lot of a small hospital. When they got closer, whoever drove it had gone inside.
"Are you sure you know who drove this car?" Trevor asked as Tristan hurried out and towards the empty car. He looked inside and was shocked by the red dyed seat.
Trevor joined him and he also noticed the seat.
"He or someone else must have gotten injured". He said in concern.
"Let’s go inside". Tristan said and tugged him along. Not giving him a chance to accept or refuse.
Trevor looked down at his smaller hand around his wrist and a smile curved his lips.
They had gotten inside the building but were stopped at the front desk by the person there.
"Do you have any issues?" She queried. But Tristan looked inside as many of their workers moved around swiftly.
He was worried and needed to see who it was.
He was hesitant to admit to Trevor that the car was Alpha Mitch’s most preferred car.
He always drove that anytime he was going to the pack house.
Since the past few days, over a week, the car is the closest thing he had been to seeing him. Hence he was really tensed by the state of the car and its presence in a hospital.
"We are here for someone. He came inside not quite long ago. About ten minutes or less". Trevor replied to the nurse with a stiff smile.
He wanted to use his charm to win her over and it worked a little because she relaxed a little and pointed over to a chair from across the wall.
"Sit down. They were two men that came in, one way shot and the other one wasn’t looking better himself. Just wait for a while". She said and returned her attention to what she was doing before they arrived.
A landline rang and she talked to someone on the phone before also hurried off.
"Let’s do as she had said" Trevor whispered to Tristan before he gently took him to the chair.
They had been seated for almost an hour when she emerged again and was surprised to see them waiting.
"One way in a surgery for the gunshot and he is stable now. The other one is also getting treated by a nurse". She gave them the update and Tristan stood up eagerly.
"Was the gunshot bad?" He asked in a strained voice.
Different scenarios had passed through his mind and he had arrived at the wild conclusion that the shot person was Alpha Mitch and the other one was probably one of his men.
"Not bad but fatal, he lost a lot of blood and was lucky to be alive". She replied. His face paled at the news and he leaned on Trevor as his knees weakened.
"Can we see the other one?" Trevor asked the nurse with a wide smile and looked at him for a few minutes before she sighed and replied.
"You will still have to wait, once the nurse leaves you can go in". She replied and they were forced to sit again but Tristan refused to sit still and paced around nervously.
A while later she gestured for them to follow, and Tristan was quick to obey.
They walked down the hallway to the front of a door.
She knocked on the door and opened it for them to go inside.
Trevor did first and Tristan followed.
Both of their eyes went to the person on the bed.
Tristan stopped suddenly as his eyes widened and tears gathered in his eyes.
Trevor immediately realised who he was and turned around to leave the room to give them some privacy.
The nurse waiting outside the door looked at him with raised brows and he smiled sadly at her while shaking his head.
His work was done but he could not get rid of the pain that squeezed his heart. For a second he had wished the Alpha was the shot one but he was definitely wrong. Ang felt guilty for thinking like that.
