Chapter 210: No Way Out
"Andy!" Bella spotted her sister coming out of her room.
"Bella? How could you leave like that?" Andromeda glanced at James and his father. "You went to see the Potters without saying a word?"
"Good thing I did…" Bella added. "Are you okay? Did they hurt you?"
Andromeda raised her hands. "I'm fine. I locked myself in my room when I saw those guys." The fear was apparent on her face. "I thought I was done for when that one began to bang on my door…" She glanced at the dead man lying on the floor next to her room.
"What about Sirius and the others? Are they all upstairs?" James asked.
"I don't know…it all happened too quic—"
"Wait, shhh!" James shut her up and called for his father to come over while pointing up with his finger.
Someone was coming down.
They were trying to be sneaky and avoid making much noise, but James could hear the steps on the wooden stairs very clearly.
He made a gesture to get inside Andromeda's bedroom.
His father wanted to protest, but one look from James was enough to convince him.
Today, Fleamont Potter had personally witnessed just how scary and efficient James was when it came to dealing with this kind of situation.
While they went inside the room, James reapplied his invisibility and went to meet the one coming down.
He was dressed like the others, in a black cloak and white mask. His eyes and wand were scanning the surroundings with evident nervousness, giving away that this person was not very experienced either.
James noted the long platinum blonde hair that could not be hidden by the attire.
The blonde Death Eater arrived at the fourth floor and was startled by the bodies of his companions.
"Merlin!" he exclaimed in shock.
One of them was missing his head, while the other had been partially dissolved by Primum's corrosive poison. It was not a pleasant view at all.
His right hand was trembling as he moved his wand around, trying to find the culprit.
James approached slowly, got behind the Death Eater, and gave him a good smack on the back of his head, using his full strength.
The Death Eater let out a loud yelp as he crashed face-first on the floor, breaking his mask and losing his wand in the process.
"Hello, Lucius," James said.
"Wh…who…Potter?" He recognized the voice and turned around, trying to locate James to no avail. "Where are you?!"
"Who is up there?" James ignored Lucius's question.
"S-show yourself, Pot—" Lucius saw a spark of light hitting his chest and became paralyzed.
"Never mind, I will go see them myself." James was about to turn around and leave. He stopped and gave Lucius another glance. "Once I'm done with the others…you and I are going to have a talk about what you did to Narcissa."
Despite the paralysis he had inflicted on Lucius, James could see the fear creeping into his eyes.
With that said, he went upstairs, not very sure of what he was going to find.

A couple of minutes before James's arrival.
"They are getting closer!" Regulus Black shouted as he saw the sparks of light from the floor beneath them.
"I can fight too!" Sirius exclaimed.
"And I already told you to shut up." Pollux pushed Sirius along. "Get in there. I will keep you safe." He guided them to the last room on the fifth floor.
Druella and Cygnus exchanged a look.
"Father…what about our daughters? We need to bring them as well," Cygnus said.
"Neither Bella nor Narcissa are in the house. And Andromeda can take care of herself," Pollux responded to them.
"What? When did Bella leave? That girl is always doing what she wants," Druella complained.
"It is your other daughter who is always doing what she wants." Walburga threw her a nasty glare. "I bet it's because of her that we are under attack."
"Don't you go blaming my Narcissa for this!" Druella glanced for a moment at the Patriarch. He was the one who started all of this…this war against the Dark Lord. "We should have been on the other side. None of this woul—"
"That's enough!" Pollux shouted. "You can wait out here if you want to. Maybe they will show you mercy if you kneel quickly enough."
Druella grew paler. She knew it was too late to surrender. "N-no…"
"But what's the plan? Just stay in there?" Sirius asked as he walked inside the last room in the hall.
He had always wanted to know what was in there, as their grandfather never allowed them to go inside or even to be on the last floor of the house for too long.
Now he could clearly see it. It looked like a storage room. The walls were filled with countless shelves.
Sirius didn't have the time to examine anything right now, but this looked like his grandfather's private vault, where he kept the family's most valuable things...those that he didn't trust the goblins at Gringotts with.
"Shouldn't we be calling the Aurors before going into hiding?" Regulus asked after going into the room.
"The floo network has been cut down. That must have been the first thing they did," Cygnus responded while following his sons inside.
"This can't be happening…what are we going to do?" Druella shook her head.
"We'll be safe in here for a while. The protections in this room are the best that money can buy." Pollux began closing the door after entering.
They could all see some shadows moving across the hall.
"They are here!" Walburga shouted.
Pollux sealed the door and tapped it with his wand, activating dozens of runes all around the door and wall.
"There is no way out…" Druella muttered. "We are going to die in here."
"Shh! Don't say that." Cygnus scolded her.
"Sirius…you think Father is going to be okay? He was at the library when…" Regulus said in a whisper.
"I…I don't know…" Sirius did know, but didn't want to say it.
"Now we are trapped here, and it's only a matter of time before they breach that door, " Cygnus pointed out. "Is there no way to communicate with the outside?" he asked his father.
"No, but that won't be necessary." Pollux assured them. "Because I know exactly where Bella went."
