Jiang Nan Fang Zhan Bei Jue

Chapter 1176 He's Jealous

Ge'er wanted to say no, but when she first learned about her pregnancy, she and Shang Jincheng had searched online for prenatal education.

It was indeed something that needed to be done by the father, as a father's voice could bring a sense of security to the fetus.

Since Shang Jincheng was absent, someone had to fill that role.

Although Lei Dongyi wasn't the best choice, there wasn't anyone better available at the moment.

Besides, his voice wasn't unpleasant. She could treat him as a tool and just tolerate listening.

Ge'er was silent for a moment, then said, "If you want to tell it, then tell it."

Lei Dongyi turned off the dim lights in the room, searched for fairy tales on his phone, and explained to her.

"Tomorrow I'll buy you a few parenting books to read. For today, just listen to this. What do you want to hear? The Frog Prince, Tom and Jerry, or The Wolf and the Seven Young Goats?"

She was almost thirty years old, and she never expected to need a man to tell her fairy tales to help her sleep.

Ge'er thought for a moment, "The Wolf and the Seven Young Goats."

Shang Jincheng started reading to her from his phone. After a few sentences, he felt they were too far apart.

"Do you think he can hear me like this? Is there any reaction from your belly?"

Ge'er couldn't help but scoff, "It would be strange if there was a reaction. It's not even three months yet."

"Alright then, we'll leave it like this. I'll speak a little louder."

Shang Jincheng, as if completing a solemn task, raised his voice a bit more, adopting an announcer's tone, and read the entire story with great expressiveness.

Although she had heard him give many speeches in school, this was the first time it was so amusing.

Ge'er found it a little funny at first, but then she got used to it, felt at ease, and unconsciously fell asleep.

She slept until late morning. When she opened her eyes, the curtains had already been drawn by Lei Dongyi.

Bright sunlight streamed onto the bed. The sky outside the window was a vibrant blue, looking full of life.

Lei Dongyi hadn't gone far. He was sitting on the bay window in front of the window, seemingly working.

Perhaps it was telepathy, or perhaps he saw movement from the window sill.

As soon as Ge'er woke up, he quickly turned his head.

"You're awake? Are you hungry? I bought you San Ding Bao and chicken congee from Yuehai Ju. Go wash up and eat quickly."

Yuehai Ju was not close to where Ge'er lived, and that place was quite upscale; one had to make reservations in advance for morning tea.

Lei Dongyi was thoughtful; the breakfast arrangement was quite good.

Similarly, he carried her to the bathroom. Lei Dongyi helped squeeze the toothpaste and handed her the toothbrush, then leaned against the door frame and watched her brush her teeth.

Ge'er felt rather awkward. At her age, she still needed someone to help with such trivial matters.

"Can you stop watching me? Go do your work. I'll call you when I'm done."

Lei Dongyi looked at her sleepy, disheveled face, the messy little fuzz on her temples, her smooth, delicate skin, his eyes as gentle as water.

"Then I'll go warm up the breakfast and bring it in. Don't move, call me when you're done."

Ge'er ate breakfast in bed, and he continued to work on the bay window.

Perhaps it was because he needed to handle many things for his entry into Zhonghe, or for some other reason, he was extremely busy, with constant phone calls and video conferences.

Seeing him working in the bedroom, Lei Dongyi had to explain to everyone the reason for his working from home.

He claimed he had twisted his ankle.

Everyone offered their condolences and said they wanted to visit him, but he refused, stating it convincingly.

"I have someone taking care of me. Don't worry, I'm fine."

Everyone responded with understanding: "Oh, we understand, we understand. Lawyer Lei has a lady accompanying him, so I won't disturb you."

Ever since Shang Jincheng had his accident, Jiang Jingyu had taken over most of Ge'er's work.

Ge'er now held a nominal position; no one bothered her even if she didn't go to work.

Ge'er enjoyed the leisure and lay in bed, daydreaming.

Though she called it daydreaming, she was actually watching Lei Dongyi busy himself.

Indeed, when her gaze was fixed on him, she didn't think about anything, and time flew by quickly.

Also, she didn't experience morning sickness today. She ate two large steamed buns and drank a bowl of congee. Nothing upset her stomach, and she soon felt hungry again.

Lei Dongyi was busy until ten-thirty. His work finally came to a pause. He raised his hand to check his watch and then looked back at Ge'er.

She was staring wide-eyed at him from the bed, looking quite cute. He couldn't help but smile.

"What are you thinking about? Are you hungry? What do you want to eat for lunch? I'll go buy it for you."

Ge'er didn't know what she wanted to eat either. "You can buy whatever. Just not chicken soup, pigeon soup, or anything like that."

Lei Dongyi said, "I think Yuehai Ju's food suits your taste. How about we go there again? Wait for me, I'll be back soon."

He said he would be back soon, but halfway there, a serious car accident occurred on a main road, causing a massive traffic jam.

Lei Dongyi's car was stuck in the middle, unable to move forward or backward, and remained there for a full half hour without budging.

Seeing that it was already half past eleven, he grew anxious.

Finally, gritting his teeth, he got out and negotiated with a line of drivers behind him, asking them to reverse their cars. Only then could he squeeze out through the gap, illegally change lanes, and take an alternate route back.

On his way home, he stopped by a supermarket to buy a pile of groceries, and also bought two more parenting books and essential reading materials for expectant mothers.

Ge'er's bed rest wasn't a matter of one or two days. Going out to buy food every day was a waste of time and not a long-term solution.

Moreover, if they were together in the future, and there was a child, one of them would have to know how to cook.

Since Ge'er didn't want to, he had to prepare early.

He might as well practice his cooking skills during this time.

He returned home without stopping, carrying bags of groceries. Before he could even open the door, he heard male and female voices talking inside.

He couldn't help but wonder who would be at the house at this hour.

Then, the door opened, and he saw Qin Shen.

Although the lighting at the KTV last time was dim, he had still gotten a clear look at Qin Shen.

He had thought their encounter with Ge'er was just a chance meeting, but he didn't expect Qin Shen to know her address.

Ge'er, knowing full well the doctor had forbidden her to move, had opened the door to let him in!

Lei Dongyi, knowing he had no right, still couldn't control his anger.

Carrying the groceries, he walked to the coffee table, placed the items down, and looked sternly at Ge'er.

"What did the doctor tell you? Didn't he tell you not to move? Who let you get out of bed?"

Furthermore, there was a pile of food and drinks on the coffee table, beautiful pastries, and Ge'er was holding an exquisite small bowl in her hand, which was already empty.

She had actually eaten the food this man brought her?!

Even though he had worked hard for over an hour without bringing back any food, she shouldn't eat food sent by someone else behind his back.

"What did you eat? Your stomach had just started to feel better, and you're eating random things again. Have you forgotten what it feels like to vomit violently?"

Qin Shen clearly saw Lei Dongyi's jealousy from the side and was surprised.

"Sister, who is this?"

Ge'er found Lei Dongyi truly annoying.

He was the one who had caused her to be in this state, and he was the one who had insisted on taking care of her, yet this was his attitude?

Did he feel a sense of accomplishment scolding her like a child in front of an outsider, embarrassing her?
