Jiang Jingyu detested having a host of secretaries follow him, so the CEO's office only had him and one assistant.
When the assistant took leave, he had to handle things personally.
To find a piece of technical data and clarify specific parameters, he went to the technical department. He chatted with the engineer in charge of that product for over an hour. Feeling an urgent need, he went to the technical department's restroom.
As he came out to wash his hands, he unexpectedly heard someone in a cubicle in the women's restroom slacking off, and they had no idea the CEO would be there today, talking very loudly.
“Did you hear? The sales department held a welcome party last night, and Assistant Zhang attended. I don't know what those crazy women were doing to him, but they dislocated his arm.”
“Oh, is that right? I didn't know. Tell me quickly!”
“I don’t know the specifics. I heard it was a newcomer named Tong An'an, and somehow he dislocated his arm. These young people are really wild.”
“Although Assistant Zhang is everyone’s second dream lover in the company after CEO Jiang, no one has dared to make a move for so long. A newcomer comes and pulls his arm. That’s impressive.”
“Alas, I think it’s a sign of the times. How pure we were back then, how reserved we were when facing men. These young girls today, tsk tsk.”
As they spoke, they opened the restroom door and went to the public area outside to wash their hands.
As soon as they looked up, they saw Jiang Jingyu was also there, and their faces turned ashen.
“Mr. Jiang, Mr. Jiang…”
Jiang Jingyu didn’t say anything. He didn’t even dry his hands before turning and leaving.
The new employees in the sales department had an additional test compared to employees in other departments: they had to interview five senior executives and record the interviews as part of their new employee assessment.
This was intended to train the newcomers' courage and wisdom, as well as test their language organization skills.
Originally, everyone would do this at least a week after joining the company, after gaining some understanding of the company. However, the sales department had a high volume of business this year and faced great pressure. The supervisors of the two departments, eager to gain an edge and speed up their growth, assigned this task to them the very next day.
“Since you’ve just arrived and have nothing to do, why don’t you go chat with senior executives and finish writing what you need to write, complete the process, and then you won’t have to take up time learning other things later.”
“I’ll point you in the right direction. You can interview the directors, vice presidents of each department, and even the CEO.”
“And they know this rule, so as long as you notify their assistants in advance, it’s very easy to make an appointment. Go back now, list the questions you want to ask, prepare well. I hope to get this done within today, and officially start working tomorrow.”
Upon hearing this, everyone rushed back to their workstations energized and began to busy themselves.
Tong An'an certainly didn't dare to fall behind. She found some previous interview records, looked at a few examples, and listed a few questions she wanted to ask, mimicking others. Then, she found the assistants of the various general managers in the company’s internal directory and made appointments with them.
As expected, everyone was very accommodating, and the appointments were quickly scheduled. To simplify things, they asked the six new sales employees to arrange their own order, one after another, to meet them individually.
Tong An'an quickly prepared four.
At this point, a new employee piped up and asked, “Who have you all contacted? Is anyone daring enough to contact CEO Jiang?”
Another newcomer said they didn’t dare.
“Since all the executives are so obliging and are letting us go in an orderly fashion, I believe CEO Jiang won’t refuse. Isn’t it said that seeing him is as difficult as reaching the sky normally? Why don’t we take this opportunity to shamelessly invite him and witness his charisma together?”
With her suggestion, another person also thought it was a good idea and then asked Tong An'an if she wanted to join.
More people meant more courage, and it also saved her the trouble of making another appointment. Of course, Tong An'an was willing.
Soon, their interviews began.
Everyone went to see the executives one by one. Tong An'an was content to wait at the back. After the first four executives were interviewed, it was already past three in the afternoon.
Everyone who went to the CEO’s office wanted to linger a little longer. After Jiang Jingyu finished his interviews, it was almost time to get off work.
Everyone returned, sighing with emotion: “CEO Jiang is so handsome, so manly! His voice is so nice! He has so much personal charm!”
“Oh my god, although he speaks sparingly, I’m almost dying of infatuation! No wonder everyone says he’s the dream god of all female employees in the entire group! Ahhh!”
Tong An'an didn’t have the mood to listen to them. There were only 15 minutes left, and she still had to work overtime tonight to organize the interview records. She had to hurry.
She rushed to the CEO’s office and was about to press the doorbell when the door was pulled open from the inside.
Caught off guard, she met the CEO’s eyes. Seeing his young, sculpted, and perfectly featured face, Tong An'an immediately remembered the interview.
Her face involuntarily flushed, and she said humbly, “Hello, CEO Jiang. I’m Tong An’an, a new employee from the sales department. We had an appointment for a new employee interview, and I’m the last one.”
Jiang Jingyu had spent over an hour talking nonsense with these female employees, and no one had offered him a glass of water.
Just as he was about to go make himself a cup of coffee, he saw Tong An’an.
She was dressed more professionally today than on the day of her interview.
A white shirt, a dark blue skirt, her hair tied up, her face clean and gentle. She looked even more like Lu Jiaying from Jiang Jingyu’s memory.
She wasn’t Lu Jiaying, he knew that clearly. But every time he looked at her, it had a calming and soothing effect on his mood.
He had to admit, at the moment he saw her, his mood had improved considerably.
Jiang Jingyu pushed the office door open and motioned for her to enter.
“Alright. Go in and wait, I’ll go make a cup of coffee.”
Tong An'an, accustomed to being a waitress, heard this and instinctively reached for the cup in his hand.
“I’ll make it for you.”
But when she grabbed it, she realized she had no idea where the pantry was.
Remembering the scene at her home when she was scolded by her mother until she was utterly ashamed, Jiang Jingyu was also eager to see her serve him again.
He pointed with his chin, “Over there.”
Tong An'an walked towards a row of complex and precise machines.
She looked around for several seconds, recognizing none of the labels. Embarrassed, she turned back and apologized to him.
“I’m sorry, CEO Jiang, I don’t know how to use this machine.”
This coffee machine was specially flown in from Northern Europe. He himself had learned to use it by following the instruction manual.
It was normal for someone from Tong An'an’s background not to know how to use it.
Jiang Jingyu felt that as long as she could stand beside him with that face, it was enough. He didn’t expect her to do much at the moment.
He walked over slowly, stood beside her, and patiently pointed to the buttons.
“It’s written in Italian. Don’t worry, I’ll teach you.”
