Chapter 535: Driven Out by Force

Chapter 535: Driven Out by Force

Logan’s eyes turned razor-sharp in an instant.

It was nearly midnight. Selina had already gone to bed, and half-asleep, she vaguely heard him getting up. "What’s wrong?" she mumbled.

Logan’s reply was short and cold. "I’m going to the Perry estate. Go back to sleep."

But the moment Selina heard "Perry Family," she thought of Grandma Perry and jolted awake. "What happened to Grandma Perry? Did something happen?"

The hard line of Logan’s lips gave him a look of contained fury, his voice laced with killing intent. "Amelia and Paula caused a scene. They’ve already been thrown out, but Grandma Perry was still frightened."

Selina swung her legs off the bed, her eyes flashing with anger. Grandma Perry was elderly and in poor health—Amelia had taken Paula there in the middle of the night to disturb her rest... what was she scheming?

When they hurried to the Perry estate, the place was blazing with lights. Grandpa Perry’s face was dark as he barked, "Miss Paula came from so far away, and she wasn’t even asking for much! Why did you have to refuse her? Now you’ve offended the royal family of Country Y—are you happy with yourself?!"

Mr. Perry the Second and Mr. Perry both stood at his side. They said nothing, but their expressions made it clear they agreed with him.

Grandma Perry calmly took a sip of tea. "Yes. I am satisfied. What? You have a problem with that?"

"You—!" Grandpa Perry nearly collapsed on the spot.

An hour earlier, Miss Paula had set her sights on Pear Blossom Estate and demanded to stay there.

But Pear Blossom Estate belonged to Logan. Without his consent, Amelia dragged Paula over, only to be blocked at the gate by the butler. Paula, enraged, made a scene. When Grandpa Perry heard, he used the excuse that "Anna was her daughter" to open the gate for Paula.

And Grandma Perry? She didn’t utter a word—just ordered the bodyguard to drive the car straight forward. Paula either left or she’d be run over. Terrified, Paula had stumbled out in disgrace.

Humiliated, Paula was furious. She was royalty, after all! To fancy a mere estate and not have it handed to her on a silver platter was bad enough—but to be thrown out like that?

Afterward, Amelia brought her inside.

Paula immediately started hurling insults—at Anna, at Grandma Perry—calling Anna a damned wretch who only caused trouble even after death, accusing her of disrespecting royalty.

Amelia fanned the flames at her side. Worked into a rage, Paula pulled out her private social account and posted:

"An uncultured bastard girl should’ve just died quietly where she was dumped. Why couldn’t she just stay dead?"

Netizens quickly dug into her post and realized she was taking jabs at Anna and Amelia—the infamous real-and-fake daughter pair.

Anna’s death had always been shrouded in controversy, but Amelia’s role as the fake daughter and true mistress was public knowledge. Within hours, Paula was trending with massive backlash online. Before the Country Y royals could send in their PR teams, Grandma Perry had already found out.

And Grandma Perry hadn’t held back. First, she slapped Amelia. Then, before Paula could react, she struck her across the face as well—this daughter of a duke, a royal of Country Y!

Paula had fled in tears. Amelia, pretending concern, had comforted her, and then word reached Grandpa Perry. He stormed in with his two sons to confront the old madam.

Grandpa Perry fumed, "It’s just Pear Blossom Estate! What’s so hard to give up?"

Grandma Perry sneered. "Give up? That estate belonged to my daughter. Why should I hand it over just to please your precious adopted girl?"

"You—!" Grandpa Perry, thinking of Paula’s status, Duke William’s threats, and the storm that might hit the Perry Family, snapped without thinking.

"Anna is dead! If her death can wring one last bit of value for the Perry Family, that’s her honor! Must you be so stubborn? The dead will never be more important than the living. Do you have any idea how crucial Paula is to Amelia? Two hundred billion on the line—and you can’t be a little more sensible? You’re just like Anna, always—"

"Perhaps you should get this straight—the one who was murdered was my daughter!"

Grandma Perry shot to her feet, her voice like a whip. "It was your adopted daughter who killed my child! I never even pressed charges for murder, and now you want the dead victim to ’bring value’ to her killer?! Do you have no conscience left at all?!"

Grandpa Perry’s lips trembled. "I..."

"Anna was your own flesh and blood! It was bad enough that you abandoned her for Amelia, but you actually let Amelia murder your biological daughter! And now you come to me, telling me I should treat Anna’s killer better? That Amelia killed Anna for my own good?!"

Her voice rose in fury, shaking the walls. Grandpa Perry’s head buzzed from her shouting. "I—I didn’t mean it like that..."

That wasn’t what he meant—why did this old woman twist everything like this?

He doted on Amelia because she grew up at his side. Was it his fault Anna was unlucky enough to be abandoned so young? Amelia had always brought him joy—of course he preferred Amelia!

Grandpa Perry’s face flushed red. "I won’t argue with you anymore. Miss Paula has set her sights on Pear Blossom Estate. If you have any conscience left, you’ll hand it over. And if Amelia suffers because of this, I’ll scatter Anna’s ashes to the wind, do you believe me—"

"I’ve already recorded everything you just said," a cool female voice cut in from outside the door, "and uploaded it to Twitter."

Selina stepped in, shaking her phone. "It’s quite lively on Twitter right now. Would you like to see what everyone’s saying about the Perry Group?"

Grandpa Perry’s eyes bulged with rage. "What did you say?!"

Selina arched a brow. "Why so agitated, Grandpa Perry? Don’t you insist there’s nothing wrong with favoring Amelia? If you’re in the right, then what are you afraid of?"

"You—you—"

Grandma Perry let out a cold laugh. "Seems someone does know he’s in the wrong. Get out!"

"You... you two... Logan, Selina—!" Grandpa Perry’s face burned as though his authority as an elder had just been trampled by juniors. But before he could explode, his phone rang—one of the Perry Group shareholders.

"Old Master, what nonsense have you been spouting! How could you say something like that? Do you know how fast news spreads online now? You’ve made yourself famous! The entire internet is cursing the Perry Family—for killing the real daughter to protect a fake one, a mistress’s brat. You’ve doomed yourself, and you’re dragging the Perry Group down with you!"

"What? I... hello? Hello?!"

The call cut off, leaving Grandpa Perry shaken. Finally realizing the seriousness of the situation, he stormed out in a panic.

Mr. Perry the Second and Mr. Perry had also gotten the same calls. What Selina had posted wasn’t just audio—it was video. They had both been recorded right alongside him. And now the internet had dug up their own dirty history—

Illegitimate sons born of a mistress, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Amelia to bully and abuse Anna, the true daughter. Even after Anna’s death, they tried every trick to seize her inheritance and drive the old madam into despair.

Mr. Perry the Second and Mr. Perry instantly became public enemies—rats scurrying in the streets, with everyone clamoring to strike them down.
